@ Amanda I don’t understand why people jump to the conclusion that the previous owners just didn’t want animals any more? I’m sure that’s true in some cases. But in others, especially in impoverished countries and communities, where people can barely afford to take care of their own needs, a dog is another mouth to feed, another family member who needs costly health care. Think for a minute before you judge. Animals *and* humans need empathy.

While it's true that we don't know the specifics, and we also are watching an edited video, it isn't far-fetched at all to worry that someone didn't do wrong by this sweet puppy. It also wasn't really the main point of this post -I can see if they had been over the top ranting why you might take offense, but they weren't. As a real question, I am curious as to why you went into a critical mode, vs just saying something that isn't contentious ...

@@63artemisia63 the dog had a collar on. It was abandoned. I’ve been in situations where I was homeless with no money, and my dog ate instead of me. But usually we shared. All dogs have to give us is their loyalty, and love, and they give it fully. We owe them nothing less. You don’t abandon your dog. Ever.

Absolutely. Cats too. I saved some stray cats and adopted them in my life, and they are all so so thankful!

He may have just gotten lost. I had a dog who was an escape artist. One time a lady "rescued him" from my front yard and thought he was a stray lol. He just hopped in her car. She had him for like 7 days until someone saw my flier and knew her. She was just going to keep him. Now I always chip my dogs in addition to the collar tag.

@ Corey Hall What you and others call “cruelty” is ignorance, fear (of the unknown-when people haven’t grown up with animals) and financial inability. Lots of us assume that feeding and caring for a dog or cat is cheap. But when you barely have enough to buy food, shelter and health care for your family, an extra mouth to feed can be overwhelming. There are 10 million people over 65 in the US and the same in the UK who struggle to feed themselves. Millions of children go to bed hungry every night, but because we don’t see them, we assume they’re “cruel” for choosing to feed a child instead of a dog.

@@63artemisia63 Yes, I am aware that some people can't afford to take care of their pets for a variety of reasons. Living conditions, financial struggle, or the place where they are living won't allow a pet or allow a certain number of pets in a area. I am just saying it is heartbreaking to see some animals looks sad and miserable and some animals are too curious and will get lost.

@Anita Yang Like the US, UK and other countries, Bali has a shocking number of hungry, homeless people. Sadly, that translates to shocking numbers of hungry, homeless animals.

@@63artemisia63 hi Lynn, I agree but when I was in last in Bali, an injured pup needed help. I took him to the vet and they had to amputate so we did. I asked where the closest shelter and they said there were none. Driving around Bali and asking businesses and local homes, they felt the animals were fine out on the street. I think we all have a homeless pet problem but here in the US, and in the UK, there are more resources and a cultural difference. It was nice to see this pup make it =)

@@63artemisia63 well, its cultural. Even my parents living in the US for most of their lives do not understand why I spent 60k for my dog after being attacked by another dog. In Bali, they are poor so it makes it worse. My parents (Chinese) see animals differently. I saw this mentality a lot in Bali, Hong Kong, Spain, Taiwan, Slavaina, even Cape town and others so when I saw someone helping the animals in Bali, I was over joyed. Lynn, I'm guessing you are in the US too?

I have over a dozen rescues in last few years let alone adopting out kittens in the last decade. As a kid I had three Mama kitties and 24 kittens. We found homes for all of them. People are ignorant to what we do to wildlife. They get mad deer raccoons other wildlife were in their yards. Well the last thousand years that was their home. Some expletive bought the property and built the neighborhood. You're actually the invader. The cancer. Keep smiling humanity you're dumb
