I’m setting up obs for live streaming and looking at these devices, just noticed this was a new item in my local shop so came here to check out your review on it. I guess because Elgato is well established that it has a lot of profiles etc made for it and I like that it’s free. Your point about the Razer staying put is a good one but that’s an easy fix with adhesive or one of those non slip mats underneath. Just wanted to give a thumbs up for not playing awful repetitive music while you review, that’s refreshing these days as too many feel the need to play music while they talk, so thanks a lot for that. Glad to hear this feedback. We recently changed up how we use music in our videos due to the repetitiveness and how annoying background music can be through a longer format video. Also, the non slip mat may be a great solution! I will say double sided tape really isn’t since the entire bottom is covered in rubber and the rubber insert is fairly thick. So you would have to remove the rubber and get some very thick double sided tape. It may be possible I just couldn’t find any that would work properly.

I have my stream deck XL mounted under my desk. Have you ever tried that for fixing the moving solution?

Oh, that's neat! What material are they made from? I thought about getting a 3D printer soon and trying to print a mount. Just wasn't sure if they would be sturdy enough.

I find it curious that creators never include touch portal in the list of competitors in the stream deck space. You literally get the same functionality and then some for easily a 1/3 of the price.

I hear you! I love touch portal and used it for quite a while. The main reason I leave it out of comparisons is mainly due to how different the experience can be for users and how the cost could vary for each individual. For example if they wanted it as a dedicated device they may have to buy an additional device to run it on. I also preferred it on a tablet compared to a phone. So I feel my experience may skew someone’s idea of it compared to something like it’s competitors that are typically a dedicated piece of hardware. Thank you for bringing this up because I was unaware that I haven’t made a video on Touch Portal and I do think there is a large group of people that may not have heard about it that would be interested!

@@HowToTechHQ You are right, the learning curve can be steep. In a lot of ways the all in devices are, for lack of a better phrase, "Dummy Proof" do to ease of set up. And I can see that as lowering the bar for entry for a lot of new creators. I have wonder though as many do not even bring it up as a mention.

Ooooh, I want to know this. I have temp displayed in my case and on the taskbar, but I'd appreciate it on the deck since I'm going to be pushing my PC harder with all the streaming platforms and OBS.

No advantages over the Stream Deck. Unless you consider being more expensive an advantage.

Similar. I’d say way better build quality and the push buttons are nicer than the touch screen. Feature wise yes, just no dials/knobs.

Brothers, let's be objective, double-sided adhesive tape costs 3 euros for 3 meters. Elgato is currently cheaper and software better, .... that's how I would summarize this review

Unfortunately double sided tape will not stick to the bottom of the stream deck. The entire bottom is covered in rubber and if you were to remove it you would need some extremely thick double sided tape to make this work. I have tried this in the past and isn’t a good solution. However, I don’t think in any way it is a deal breaker obviously since I have 3 of them. 3-D printed mounts are also available from third parties but I haven’t tried any of those yet.

If you told me that this thing needed Synapse to work, I would absolutely never ever ever ever buy it. I can't even use some of the functions of my mouse without Synapse, imagine not being able to use the entire device because the software is absolute trash thankfully they're working with, or bought out that company who clearly knows what they're doing. Maybe the devs of that software should be moved over to the Synapse team so we can get something that actually just works most of the time
