This year the whole "LPL gauntlet" narrative started all the way back in quarters and arguably even groups (yes DRX's run obviously started from play-ins, but nobody remembers those games, it wasn't really until they upset GenG that people started to say ohhh, shit)

JDG changed Hope with Ruler just to lose 3-1 against T1 AGAIN in Worlds semifinals like last year

T1 actually did really well separating them during fights because that is JDGsstrong point. And in the last game, it was all about side laning which is JDG's weakness that was exposed by KT during quarterfinals, even Ruler did an Emerald mistake of ADC farming on the side that's why Keria caught him

T1 truly beat JDG at what they were best known for.

i mean they "won" both of those games but got outplayed hard by T1, especially Faker Guma and Oner they outdid themselves this time around

JDG was unlucky they met the only KR team before finals, KR teams start choking when all the pressure is on and Weibozo is too weak to take out T1.

Tbf Kanavi saved game 2 it was omega doomed with the level one but he brought it back. The rest of JDG are equally guilty they vanished all series.

@@somegalulbad642 SKT and DK have been "closest" to the Golden Road, both losing it because they didn't win MSI, were 1 game off. Third closest was G2 losing at Worlds finals 0-3 but that will never happen again. So it's not that out of a question T1 achieving it, they went 18-0 in 2022 spring split. I don't remember what year that was but 1 year SKT lost 1 game in entirety of Worlds, 1 game out of a Bo3 and they mega trolled against a weak team.

And there is GenG, which is tailored make to only win against T1.

Arguing that people have been, "historically proven wrong," is a bit disingenuous, since 2021 and 2022 were both two years where an underdog wins over the clear-winner. 2019 FPX was the superior team and 2020 DWG was DEFINITELY better than Sunning Gaming. Even in 2017-2018, it was clear which team was going to win even before they played. You're also forgetting how MSI was predicted, almost down to the games they'd play. JDG was the clear best team in the tournament. They proved that. In Worlds, JDG wasn't as good a team as expected, but they still matched every expectation. Gen.G even matched expectations by choking in Quarter-Finals, like they always do.
