Streamliners 2022 - Celebrating old Australian diesel locomotives - Featuring Bernie Baker

Australia’s Railways has a long and rich history of Electro-Motive Diesel Locomotives built by Clyde Engineering, and used by many of the state’s former Government Railways, a vast number of which still continue to operate revenue service on the mainline with now private operators in many forms, such as freight trains, works trains and heritage rail tours. Much loved by railwaymen and railway enthusiasts for their aesthetically pleasing streamlined ‘bulldog’ noses and the noises generated by their EMD power plants, these locomotives continue to be a savoured sight and sound anytime they venture onto the mainline.
This video visits Streamliners Australia 2022, the largest gathering of these diesel locomotives in Australia, and celebrates the history and legacy of these locomotives, both in their form as a recognisable workhorse on Australia’s railways, as well as the may model forms they may be replicated in, such as model locomotives or miniature scaled down model engineering replicas. We also look at preserved locomotive CL17 (Formerly CLP10), acquired and restored by the Streamliners Australia team, this ambitious project hopes to preserve and run the last ever built EMD streamlined locomotive in the world!
Famed Train Driver of television series “Railroad Australia”, Bernie Baker, tells the story of his passion for EMD Locomotives, as the lead organiser of this event, and narrates this documentary through an interview with him as well as many other parties who make up this event.

@@wezza60 Unfortunately not! The first Streamliners was held in 2016, then this event held in 2022. Organising an event like this (Particularly when a lot of it is Bernie Baker and a small team) takes ALOT of effort!

Great video love streamlines . My father was a engine drive he was lucky enough to have started on steam than moving on to diesel power from Dubbo than moved to Sydney and was based at Delec. Where he still drove steam but they were on the outer . He told me he’d rather drive diesel’s than steam and as kid I use to go to work with him on the odd accession. Before all this OHS.

Yes I have lots of story's about my father as a child I use to spend a lot of time in Dubbo with my grandparents so that mental lots and lots of train trips. With Dad knowing some many drivers we spent a lot of time in the cab with drivers evan in the silver city comet.

@@Rheilfforddlas llamamos "Chatas" por su peculiar forma de cabina que se asemeja aún bulldog o sin nariz 👃 En mexico operó muchas locomotoras de esas y eran EMD F7 y EMD FT-A; actualmente se encuentra una en servicio y está ubicado en el museo de ferrocarriles de Puebla, México 🇲🇽

Otra locomotora peculiar que tuvo México fue la ALCO FA ('Locomotora Mundial'), que también se construyó en Australia bajo licencia, y era la "Clase 44" o la "Clase 930" dependiendo del operador. También como encuesta, ¿viste este video con los subtítulos traducidos automáticamente al español o lo viste en inglés? Tengo curiosidad por ver cómo los espectadores internacionales pueden ver mis vídeos. ¡Gracias por su tiempo señor! 😁 (I understand now, and yes, Mexico did operate many examples of the EMD locomotives like the F7, which all look pretty stunning! Just as a survey as well, did you view this video with the subtitles/captions auto translated in Spanish, or did you watch it in English? @@Rheilffordd Si, si vi el video con subtítulos traducidos y me sirvió mucho la verdad; esta función lleva desde hace un año y me ha facilitado muchos los videos en Inglés El modelo de ALCO que hablas,la Universal, México 🇲🇽 nunca lo tuvo en su flota, lo que si tuvo es la ALCO PA-1, una locomotora legendaria que quedan muy pocas operativas en el continente Americano Otro dato curioso: Mexico y Australia son los únicos países que conservan la ALCO C628; dos se encuentran en México y uno en Australia 🇦🇺

Sólo un puñado de ellos se construyeron bajo licencia en Australia para un ferrocarril aislado de mineral de hierro en Australia Occidental, pero recuerdo que prevalecen en México y Estados Unidos. Uno se conserva, ¡tienes razón! ¡Gracias por ver mis videos por cierto! Only a handful of these were built under license in Australia for a isolated iron ore railway in Western Australia, but I do recall they're prevalent in Mexico and the United States. Although A Classes are indeed streamlined locomotives…. how do you suggest they get one to Goulburn? Abit of a track gauge problem there 😜

@@Rheilffordd several are now preserved and like the B and S class can take SG bogies - though due to emissions legislation, an A would have to be dead attached .... Nevertheless would complete the collection if it could be done!
