Manon's got the right amount of ego and humility. She's so sweet and charming, I thought she was gonna be one of those prissy, no dirt types, I'm glad she's not.

Her liking Orangette is a nice little touch that fits with rest of her character. She loves rigorous excercises with elegant touch (Ballet being the most obvious). Orangette looks like a very simple dessert that can take tedious amount of time to make well.

@@isaacyeon6334 lol I’ve been doing the similar pose in real life in my practice. Harder to do with Uchi Mata because I lose balance (though I kick high to unbalance opponent already) but I found it much easier during Sasae or Hiza Gruma (tripping with right foot and bending forward with left leg going back up)

Savate is a broad methods in French martial arts. Started as Foot fighting, boxing, and practical self defence. It's also thought that Karate got its higher and more elaborate kicks from it. Savate Boxe is the sport fighting variant. Savate Combat is the much more ultra practical variant for street fighting and real life scenarios. And yes, Savate includes La Canne which does take from fencing, and was largely encouraged in developing middle classes in France during the 1800s.

In the 1986 manga/anime Yawara!, there was a Belgian woman called Belkins. She was also both a fashion model and a judo champion. I wonder if Manon was partially inspired by this.

I'd say the closer character from Yawara is the secondary main character who did Ballet until she got too tall and ended up doing Judo with Yawara. She heavily utilizes leg based techniques and gets known for Ouchi Gari and Uchi Mata. Manon does Uchi Mata twice during World Tour cutscene and Uchi Mata is her back throw while Ouchi Gari is her forward throw. Meanwhile she does Ouchi Gari faint for her LV5 throw. And in real life, Daria Bilodid is a tall and thin Judoka who won Bronze Medal in Olympic and does modeling from time to time. Judo community joked about Manon being based on Daria who even did model/Judo commercial in Japan.

Karin exists but I think Manon is done far better overall thanks to the more modern take. Not to mention her graceful take on Judo makes her absolutely unique. There's a lot of small details on Manon that makes her more in-depth. but I think that's unfair for me to say since Karin likely could have gotten the same treatment if she was in SF as well.
