sin is so funny, because he wields a literal flag. the context behind it is that he asked his adoptive dad sol badguy (don't ask it's complicated) what he should wield as a weapon and sol said, "I don't know, go wave a flag or something" and he took it literally.

I love how Sin is the complete antithesis of the "they look eight years old but they're actually an eight thousand year old demigod" anime trope. Sin is 5, but looks like he's in his early 20s (because gears age faster than people) and is jacked as fuck (because of his training with Sol) but he still has the brain of a 5 year old: bro is dumb as hell and I love him for that.

In Elphelt's theme, there is a brief part which has a very similar tune to "All I want for Christmas Is you". That's because Elphelt's birthday is 25th of December.

There are other references in the song too. Rub a Dub Dub is from a collection of Christmas Nursery Rhymes, the Hallelujahs are an obvious reference, and there's an Amazing Grace motif as well.

The Key, Paracelsus, is also named after her creator (it's not his actual name but he rolls with it now), Paracelsus being the chosen name that the real world Swiss Alchemist, Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hoenheim took on later in life.

19:45 The reason for season 1 having 5 characters and each subsequent season (including season 4, presumably) having only 4 is because Goldlewis was presumably delayed at launch and was originally meant to be in the base game. I cannot remember where I read this, so my source is just "trust me bro", but it's pretty compelling considering Goldlewis dropped only 16 days after the game launched.

If I remember correctly it’s because he was found amongst the other base roster characters in the beta game files. Couple that with him coming out so soon after release and it paints a compelling picture imo.

So in the previous game Bedman was a hyperintelligent guy in a permanent coma just due to how smart he is it would kill him. He's actually pseudoconsious and was outfitted with a mobile bedframe. He ends up dying in a way that even in Guilty Gear terms scream "yeah, this guy isnt coming back." Then in Strive it turns out his soul has possesed his bedframe to protect his sister

A kid that got infected with a disease that brought him 10 billion years of knowledgeable and made him so smart that if his brain ever ran in full capacity hell die, so they put him in a coma and in a magical bed construct which he instantly takes over using his giga brain, goes to the information realm and kills a dog

Fun fact about Elphelt in Season 3: She is the actual sister to Ramlethal, a connect clone to Aria/Justice which is now one with Jack-O, whom is the mother(kinda) of Dizzy, who is the wife of Ky and Sin's mother, and technically a child of Aria/Justice/Jack-O and Sol/Fredrick. In other words: Welcome to Guilty Gear Lore.

So Happy Chaos is the former teacher of Asuka Kreuts (The creator of the gears) and is the sole reason for the limitless supply of energy, or magic, that exists in the modern-day GG world. He discovered the backyard, a dimension that exists outside of the human realm full of information and magic, a place that would crush humans because of the sheer density of information in that plain. His appearance is the result of him staying too long in the backyard and losing hope in humanity, losing himself and his purpose in the first place throughout time, he knows everything, past, present, and future. Happy Chaos truly is a broken anomaly, figuratively and literally.

It's always great seeing someone new discover Guilty Gear and it's crazy world; easily one of my favorite pieces of fiction out there, fighting game or otherwise! Also, fun fact: Sin is Sol's grandson, because Ky married Sol's daughter. This also makes Ky Sol's son-in-law, a fact both of them try very hard to forget about.

If you ever get interested in the lore, there's a great series by WoolieVersus on KZfaq, going from the very beginning up to the end of Xrd (last game before Strive), it is even approved by ArcSys. There's also "The Entire Guilty Gear Story in 14 Minutes" by Staiven which is also a pretty good abridged version. If you end up watching please react to it as well. "He can make the ground bleed?" Let me clear this up: the ENTIRE cast are mages, all of them except Goldlewis. Everyone else, baiken and Gio included, use magic. Magic in guilty gear is a complex form of energy manipulation where the mana reserves and imagination can denote how powerful they naturally are. Magic spells are closer executable files than traditional spells. Theres also shortcuts like Forbidden Beasts, Outrage, Backyard Convergence etc. How much power you want and what it becomes are entirely up to you minus your birth which can come with huge benefits like Night Kin.

Bridget took me completely by surprise. All drama aside, Bridget is the most fun character I've played in any fighting game, and completely unlike any other character I've ever used. She's riduculous. Weak damage, amd squishy health, but an absolute blast to control.

To answer the questions at the end, season 4 is confirmed to be coming. During the same announcement trailer, they showed the silhouette of the 4th character for season 3, and everyone is certain it is Slayer, a fan favorite character that is an op vampire like Nagoryuki, a Nightless.

Johnny's old kit had gambling. He haid coins, if you hit your enemies with coins, one of your special moves gets stronger. But only on hit, and you had a finite amount of coins. This is essentially gambling: a finite amount of money and more opportunities to fuck up than not.

So basically the reason there are so little Japanese characters in the game is because for somewhat good intentions, Asuka nuked Japan. However, since Japan is gone, any Japanese characters automatically get access to Ki, which basically puts you on par with gears for some reason.

To be fair... As much as it's a trope, it makes sense biologically due to the benefits. Reach maturity fast to be at peak physical strength, increasing chances of survival, like Dizzy does (Although I guess that's also peak magical strength). Or Reach maturity fast to increase the rate at which offspring is produced just like rabbits. The only difference is that gears get to just *stop* ageing after like 4 years of being alive, unlike rabbits who have a short lifespan due to their fast ageing.

Sadly the way Bridget was changed was lame to me, they should instead have made a new character or something. Like the boy who is forced to be a girl because of his superstitious parents attempting to prove to them they don't need to believe that way ends up doubting themselves and changing just how they wanted. To me it simply resembles grooming. Don't really care about Testament since he's always been kind of a neutral character regarding gender.

Season 4 is currently in development possibly dropping in with the first character around august or maybe september. Seasons 3 final character is teased to be Slayer, a returning character from XRD.

the character design is what got me to start playing and thr DLC has delivered EVERY time. even if characters tend to release a little underpowered, all of them are unique to play and have incredible attention to their design

@@ChocolateKieran thanks for the compliment. But if you actually consider to actually do a tournament. I would recommend looking into strives online features. I don't really fight in online private matches but I think there is a feature to invite people into a small room so they can interact or fight each other. And I would also recommend using discord or some place to post about the tournament (well if your actually going to host a tour. But all I am doing is giving you some ideas lol)

I've been playing GG since XX on ps2. Character designs have always been super wacky, but Strive cranked the dial to 11 and went ham with it. Love to see it.

so bascially, sin is half a gear, so he grew up to be physically an adult by the age of 3. his mother, Dizzy is the same as she's currently 10 years old but is basically an adult in terms of physical and mental age. by being a GEAR they also have near immortally as Sol has lived over 100 years with it being estimated him being 184 by strive.

You should look at the Guilty Gear XRD Rev 2's Character Intros, Instant Kills & Victory Poses. Its the Guilty Gear game before this one, but it has a lot more depth into its animation unlike Strive

Johnny does have some gambling aspects to his playstyle. Sometimes going for the cards is risky and his dash is very high commitment because of how risky it is (you can't really block out of it), but all of it is more of a byproduct than intentional gambling.

Character Guides were also released with all the DLC characters which might be also worth reacting too. I think there are some really cool aspect to some of these characters that isn't very obvious from the trailers, Goldlewis and Asuka for me. Enjoyed the video.

Johny more like Yamazaki from Fatal Fury / King of Fighters or if you want more close resemlse to SF - Poison from SF5. Long reach normals, stance special with 3 angles long reach hit. He also not so mobile but he has tricks. In GG XX and GG Xrd he can toss coins that buff his special slash attack. In Strive coins was changed into cards. He throw card and you can slash it to make additional hit

I do wish that they didn't change the play style of Ramlethal and Jack-O in strIVe. They were my favorite characters to play. Not i can barely stand playing as either of them.
