Cytonius here...I made the video...ummm to all the people complaining that Street Fighter II V wasn't forgotten...that's not the point of the video. This video was made to pay homage to an under appreciated anime series from the 90s.

Then why not just call the video "The underapprrciated Street Fighter Anime"?

No. Street Fighter II V wasn't very successful or popular in the United States. It aired for a brief time on Encore and Starz in the late 90s and early 2000s. But compared to other anime like DBZ, Yu Yu Hakasho and Cowboy Bebop, SF II V wasn't a well known series here in the US and it bombed in Japan. It's biggest success came from Brazil and maybe Europe in the late 90s and early 2000s
@brianpbillingsley36875 ай бұрын
I mean it was about as well advertised and promoted as an OVA could hope for in the 90s. If you had any game magazine subscription there's a chance you would've heard about it.

This was a silent masterpiece , I got it on my 13 birthday! I watched it with my brother. I also loved the creative way they introduced characters . Guile at a Bar,Sagat in Prison,Fei Long on set,Chun Li as a Tourguide, Chun Li's dad Detective Dorai in an underground crime ring, Dhalipsim with a doctor and Vega as matador! I at the time was practising competitive sports and in my later years watched it with new friends of mines! I have to say it holds a special place in my heart. There is also the beautiful Japanese song "Forever Friends"

Omni Frame this took me back down memory lane when my friends & I devoured this show in HS / college. You and I lived through Street Fighter mania and its effects on the arcades and media at large and for all you young kids out there, it was a sight to behold. The days where kids and adults would crowd around a fighting game cabinet all over North America might be over, but those memories live on... This was a neat video for sure, so thank you for making this. It definitely needed a little trimming in the beginning and the OST sections, but so much was spot on. What I'm gonna say is controversial but I actually enjoy the first half of SF2V as the globe-trotting gang busting was fun. Man I hope younger kids check this show out. I love the Japanese opening and I actually find homoerotic Ryu & Ken fine...it's young karate guys being idiots and more movies need to embrace that like John Woo. :D

It wasn't really outta no where. It was actually a pretty big deal. The show is actually distributed by STARZ in the US. And back in the day like half of Netflix's content was from a streaming deal they had for STARZ content. STARZ chose not to renew their deal so all their content was pulled. People though that it was going to be the end of Netlix at the time. It's pretty much the whole reason why Netflix was forced to begin creating their own content.

I loved it, it fleshed out the characters very good and took it seriously before alpha series came along and made their canon version. While some were good in think V did many of them better, Charlie's fate was better portrayed here and you can see how it impacted Guile . Vega was portrayed way better here , Fei Long was cocky and competitive kinda like Bruce was in when he was young , Cammy was a very cool assassin, even better than the movie. And Balrog actually being clever and deceptive instead of a money hungry simpleton was much better. Last but not least Ken and Ryu's rivalry have never been portrayed as good as this in imo. Truly underrated and I hope SF6 or any future movies takes elements from this.

More Top 10 fun facts about Street Fighter II V: 10. The entire story takes place on May 1995. 9. In this anime: Ryu is 17, Ken Masters is 17, Sergeant Guile is 21, Chun-Li is 15, Fei Long is 17, Sagat is 31, Vega is 18 and Zangief is 28. (Source: The official Street Fighter II V trading cards) 8. The giant characters had their heights toned down in this anime so they can match the live-action casting choices from Street Fighter: The Ultimate Battle (1994), ones such as Balrog being 6'0", Zangief being 6'6" and Sagat being 6'9". 7. This is the only adaptation in the Street Fighter franchise to recycle and repeat animation shots, the show was criticized because of this. 6. Balrog was done the worst out of all villains of the show. The Japanese intro (as well as some art work) shows Balrog in his boxing attire, possibly hinting that he was planned to show his fighting skills at some point. 5. Sagat doesn't wear an eyepatch, nor does he have a scar on his chest. He also has no connection with the Shadaloo. These three traits were instead briefly given to Ryu where he has deep whip-lashes, blindness on one eye, and being forced into working for Shadaloo. 4. There are three mangas based on this series: Seiden Street Fighter II V, Street Fighter II V Retsuden and Street Fighter II V: This Is Animation (an art book). 3. The first of every Street Fighter media to feature the Ken's parents Dalton Masters and Yuki Masters. However Ken's fiancé Eliza (who made an appearance in Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie) is written out of the story due to her lack of character development and no plot involvement, but she still can be seen as a cameo in one of Ken's official Street Fighter II V trading cards. 2. The Hadou-Shoryuken move can be used by Ryu in ULTIMATE Marvel vs. Capcom 3. 1. This is Fullmetal Alchemist star Vic Mignogna's first voice acting debut, he played the role of Vega in the English dub of this anime.

This anime needed a bigger and better sequel series like how Dragon Ball has. • Titled *SUPER Street Fighter II V* • Ryu and I come back wearing the ruby and gold colored sparring-gloves seen in Alpha and mastering each other's moves where I now have the Hadou-ken. • The other street fighters also having ki-summoning moves like Guile's Sonic Boom, Chun Li's Kiko-ken, Sagat's Tiger Shot, etc. • The newcomers being E. Honda, Blanka, T. Hawk, Dee Jay and Akuma as a major villain. • The other major villain being a 2nd Bison who wears red, the plot twist reveals that was who the original Bison was talking to through the eagle-head, his own clone.

I liked this show a lot when I saw it when I was younger and didn't know anything the show was talking about. This video makes me want to go back to it. I don't like it when adaptations change character personalities, but this show feels like a rare good exception to that, since it talks about the kinds of things the games versions of Ryu and Dhalsim would talk about, so it's not TERRIBLY out of character for the series as a whole despite a few individual players getting done dirty.

It’s not forgotten by me. I own the DVD collection. Not quite as good as the animated movie ( the beginning episodes have pacing problems for the type of story they’re telling), but it certainly deserves more recognition than it gets. Even the live action movie and the American cartoon that aired on the USA network for two seasons are more well received, and they’re both awful representations of what street fighter is all about and why it’s popular.

The funny thing is, Virtua Fighter animated series was aired 6 months after. The initial concpet design of Akira and Pai Chan also almost the same with Ryu and Chun Li (those spiky hairs and qipao) before they got changed. 9:05 I wouldn't say this is a male friendship. Those dudes are brothers. Honestly, they could have just left it as two opposites who are related by a common belief, but they go above and beyond to show how they support, learn from, and love each other. The episode with the Temple Treasure shows it well, but you get that connection more whenever they're under duress and the other can sense that danger.
