A few additions and corrections: 1. SF1 was a tournament organized by Sagat, and it was the only straightforward one, no evil organizations, no plot to take over the world, just a martial arts tournament 2. If i'm remembering correctly SFIV is a few months after II, it isn't explicitly stated in the game but it is told in supplemental material 3. SFV story mode retconned some parts of the story, Nash's canon ending is the one from Alpha 2, not Alpha 3. In 3rd Strike Chun-li is stated to not having fought for years and was the one that took down Bison, now the one that took Bison is Ryu and Chun-li never stopped fighting 4. Sakura is not a schoolgirl anymore, Ono said that her school uniform is her fighting uniform 5. Captain Commando and Street Fighter 2010 are also on the same timeline as Street Fighter, but set on the future 6. With the addition of Zeku the Striders are now canon to the SF universe too

Instead of letting Rival Schools rot like most franchises they don't bring up today, they should just make their characters playable in Street Fighter V as new DLC. It worked for King of Fighters (sharing the same universe with Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Psycho Soldier etc)

The only thing I hate about it is there is so many versions of one game that it makes the storyline's confusing and that one plot hole about Rival Schools being in the same timeline when The SF Alpha series is supposed to be in the late eighties when Rival Schools is in the late 90s early 2000s, great video btw !

gimme makoto in SFV, she's the only character I want :( Also funny note about Makoto As far as I understand, makoto is in high school in street fighter 3: 3rd strike, and 3rd strike takes place something like 5 years after street fighter 4 and knowing that mel masters ages between street fighter 5 and street fighter 3 (as shown in 5's cinematic story and one of the endings in SF3 2i) we know that there is no "sliding timescale" between the games and all characters age linearly throughout the series' timeline. this means that at most Makoto was 18 years old in Street fighter 3, and AT MOST 13 YEARS OLD IN STREET FIGHTER 4, POSSIBLY YOUNGER also something I'm not sure if you noted or not; since street fighter 3 takes place in 1999, every other game takes place before 1999, so ages are a lot closer together than if we were counting the year in which the game was released as the game's chronological setting, especially since that would wildly fuck with canon. that's how i understand it anyways, I don't think there needs to be a sliding timescale to explain everything anyways

I feel like I should mention that Alpha 3 really can't be consider canon at this point, Guile, Charlie and Chun-Li as well as a few others storylines in that game aren't considered canon and several interactions, events and deaths are retconned as well. Guile's ending A3 suggests that Charlie dies in Thailand whilst his SF2 ending says he dies in Cambodia. SFV presents Charlie's A2 ending (he's shot by a chopper and falls off a water fall) as his canon death but retconned the place as Brazil I think... Also Cammy's story in A3 would mess up the timeline alone with how she meets Ryu early on in her career as Killer Bee and has her ending suggests that she is freed and joins Delta Red within a the same year. In short I think it works better to have very specific events in A3 to be apart of your timeline, trim the fat and only keep what we know for sure from the lore. It would certainly make it easier to include in the timeline to pluck certain events and cutting out the rest. This video was lots of fun, studying the timeline and lore of each adaptation (movies, comic and games) was a big deal for me during my adolescence , thanks for the memories.

Akuma's appearance in Tekken is probably part of the Project X Zone/Super Robot Wars shared universe in which all of these games, several other Capcom, Namco and Sega games as well as some mecha anime and Fire Emblem all take place in.

I like you timeline Waaay better than the real one simular to the one I came up with but yours is way cleaner and fits everything perfectly.

Theory:what if evil ryu's story in street fighter 4 is actually takes place in the far past and who we are seeing here isn't really ryu,it's actually akuma,very younger and we are seeing a glimpse of how the satsui no hado consumed him,eventually leading to him becoming the master of the fist,ryu is being used a metaphor

Akira's story in SFV would be ( AGAIN ) ...searching for his brother Daigo . since capcom FG dev brought up a character from rival schools and assuming that there's hope for a new RS franchise , is best that they remake the whole Rival schools saga to integrate into the SF Canon , additionally the project justice endings is a bit of lackluster because the voice actor for Hyo died suddenly. In the remake say why not we add Makoto, Ibuki and maybe Sean in the Rival schools story arc ?

Even though I would love for rival schools to be part of the street fighter universe I’m still not 100% convinced it is (at least not yet) one of the main points given to why it is, is that rival schools characters show up in the background of a sf5 stage while kens alpha 2 stage has a plethora of capcom characters from strider to darkstalkers so not sure if background cameos are grounds for confirmation of a shared universe

Ken was actually never in the world marital art tour meant, ryu was the only one there, ken went to the all American fighting tournament , that’s why Ken was known as the American fighting champion

Great job! It seems silly now but with the success of Avengers: Infinity War, a more badass overall story is accepted without thinking too much of the crazy timeline.

I've come back to watch this at least 10 times since it came out because there's always something I miss. The thing that never makes sense to me is Cammy and Bison. I don't even know if Capcom knows. Sometimes Cammy is human, possesed, sometimes a "clone" body. Yet she still appears to age. Same with Bison. He apparently keeps dying but whenever he comes back he shows age like greying hair and such....like...if you were a soul that just goes into a clone when you die, why choose one that looks older? Want to keep up with your real age?

Honestly, the best thing that could happen would be a total reboot. I mean start over from the very beginning with Street fighter include every character from every Street fighter game and whatever characters are cross reference that are applicable. In other words make a whole new series of game for the timeline is far more clear. I mean if other franchises can do this I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be hard for the street fighter franchise to do this and people would certainly buy it all up.

You could have mentioned Sagat's eye was missing because of Gou Hibiki, Dan's father and now Dan wants revenge and went to train with Gouken, bringing everything full circle to the Satsui no Hado. World Warrior Tournament 1 winner was Ryu, WW2 was technically Ryu, but it's unconfirmed since the sponsor of the tourney was an evil dictator and he got slaughtered by a demon, WW3 winner was Alex. The S.I.N. tourney was unofficial and had many endings in (U)SF4, and a la fighting game fashion, could all be "what ifs" but most could make sense and happen at the same time because there are multiple SETHs. This video is 2 years old so you need to make an update on SFV because it seems Capcom wants to do a second cinematic story that follows A Shadow Falls. Zeku is the first Strider, almost confirmed canon. C.Viper seems to have a prototype of Captain Commando's tech.
