This is not the only way to do this this is just the way i did this. I assume you could do it yourself a lot cheaper.

Well you can take highways as well as long as it will do the speed limits. Mine topped out around 72-74mph i believe then the rev limiter kicked in. I did drive mine on the interstate a few times. But yea with the racks like i had you have tons of places to strap bags on for touring. In florida they literally don't care at all as long as it has a plate on it.

Well no road is off limits except a few interstates specifically in south dakota. Other than that highways, interstates are good too as long as ur atv is fast enough. The 570 would do about 72mph so intertates with speed limits of 65 are fine.

Well i came thru there a few times again and we waived to each other as i rode past them cuz they know. UPDATE: Doing a trip to Ocala National Forrest. While i was in North carolina i had in interaction with plain clothed officers while riding my quad on the road in dunn, nc to go get cash out of atm. I came out theres 2 unmarked cars blocking in my quad. And they said my registration was not recognized in that state. I brought up their exemption under subsection 20. They said thats only for commercial vehicles. I said this vehicle is registered to an out of state business and that their subsection 20 didnt specify this. And cited the fact i drove past 4 marked units on my way there that did nothing. They said well you cant drive it on a public road here. We recommend you get a tow. But we are not going to hang around and see what you do. So i waited tried to get a tow and it would take too long so i drove back to where i had my truck and trailer parked. Waving at the marked units i drove past on my way out. So my lesson from this experience is unless you get cited theres nothing illegal about what youre doing and they are trying to intimidate you into complying with what they beleive is correct. However it always helps to be courteous and friendly towards law enforcement officers in these situations cuz at the end of the day they are going to do what they want regardless if its right or wrong and only can be argued in court. Also id pull over any atv on the road if i saw one if i was in their situation

So far no citations. Even stopped by psp they gave me a written warning cuz they didnt really know. Lebanon stopped me once they stop ya once they kinda know. But police will stop you so just know they will stop you and uneducated officers will tell you that you cant ride it on the road however they will not cite you or have it towed unless they want to challenge it in court which they will lose as it has been fought and won at the pa supreme court level b4. Had that issue in north carolina they told me they dont honor other states definitions. Same way as a guy riding a velomobile in california gets pulled over because they think its an unregistered vehicle but its a recumbent trike with a shell around it if ur interesed u can google quest velomobile with racing hood and you will see wat im talking about. But id would say almost every state in the us has to honor other states definitions and regulations regarding your vehicle, they have to otherwise the state you are currently traveling thru would tell you now ur not legal here because you dont have out license plate on ur car or state inspection hell even in pa some counties dont require emissions so they cant require u to have emissions sticker in a different county than where you are registered. Another example you had a kit car legally registered as a car. Its legally regustered insured inspected etc. They cant tell you its not legal cuz u drove it over a county or state line because they have different requirements to make it legal or there is no way to make it road legal in their as far as i know every state has exemption to registration and compliance in their state as long as the vehicle is legally registered and compliant in the owners home state. I went back and forth with pa dmv. As the officers always call the dmv. And the answer is atvs are not legal on the road in pa. However motorcycles are. And since its legally registered as a motorcycle even though it doesnt meet the pa definition of a motorcycle it still meets the definition of a motorcycle and is legally registered as such in another state. The simplest way ive found to describe it is a dual sport motorcycle, what makes them legal is how they are registered and the fact they have all dot required equipment to be a motorcycle then it starts to click with law enforcement. The only difference being it has 4 wheels instead of the state defined maximum of 3 in pa.

This is exactly what I want to do to my 2021 570 MAX... in Illinois. I found all of the Can-am OEM parts for the blinker/horn kit that they use on their European/International version of the same bike. I like the tires you chose as well, good find. I don't really plan on taking it on highways or any street that has a >35MPH speed limit. Since there are barely any places in Illinois to ride, I just want too expand my options in the neighborhood and get them most out of my investment in the ATV :-). Trailering my toys up to Wisconsin all the time is a bit of a pain. So at this point my main reasons for doing this: #1 sticking it to the man (kinda), #2 piss off HOAs, #3 Illinois is boring, time to stir things up a bit!

Well i can assure you it is very capable of going 60mph uphill above that you are pushing it. Check out my video of me riding it on the state highways you can see my speedo is usually above 50mph. With the tires i chose they say do not go faster that 50mph or 55mph. They just get a little shaky until they get worn in a little then they seem to smooth out. I will be making a newer video on this topic soon about the supporting facts ive found that says this is legal in my state. Pretty much the cops will end up citing u even though you are legal because they dont understand how its legal and they look at it as an atv. Of course you could do this all on your own instead of using dirtlegal.com but i chose to use dirt legal because i just wanted it done right.

I mean you get pulled over pretty much everywhere cuz they just assume youre riding illegally. But i actually sold my street legal atv to get a velomobile and a new motorcycle cuz demand was high so i took advantage of that. But i live near hamburg, pa. The only police that gave me trouble was schuylkill haven state police they didnt know if it was legal or not so they let me go and gave me a written warning but never pulled me over after that. Other than that most townships will pull u over then usualy once then know they leave u alone. Lebanon stopped me and was really cool about it. But pretty much as soon as they run the regustration and it comes back a motorcycle they are like what? Ok i guess ure good to go as long as its registered and insured. Id ride everywhere on it. Even on i78 ive ridden on 61 to fro in st clair plenty if times. Weird that i was never stopped on 61 though. Oh yea game comission came out ine time wen i parked it in the parking lot to hunt and was asking about it saying they git a report of somebody riding atvs illegally in sgL i said well wasnt me i walked out you can ask your scout over there. They had a scout radio the patrol vehicle its nit like they hid very well theyre in bright orange in the mjddle of the woods on the main road out of the woods. But yea they just checked my license and tags and i threw my rifle in the case in my rack and left. As long as ure not being disrespectful towards the officer they are usually pretty cool about it some of them just hate the idea cuz theire jealous they cant do it. The one told me the way i did it he might try it for himself i said check out the process from dirt legal you woukdnt be the first cop theyve done it for. I gotta say though the best state i rode in was florida only ppl that gave mw crap there was dcnr not letting me into national park day use areas. But florida highway patrol and sherriffs told me if it has a plate and street legal equipment its legal on the road like they really didnt care.

How much did all of this cost you? Not the ATV itself, but all of the modifications to make it street legal, including the registration? And can these same modifications be made on a raptor 700r?
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Yea i forget how much all of it cost me i wanna say around 800 bux you can do it cheaper than i did i was going for an oem look so i paid more plus i wanted off road treaded dot approved tires that were bigger than stock. i know the tires cost me about 600 bux and then to mount them i think it was like another 100 bux or something like that at the dealership. Honestly thats the most expensive part other than that wiring harness is listed in the description i think it was like 90 bux and it comes with turn signals you would need a horn and a horn will prolly run ya like 30 bux and jus make a bracket from a metal peice from lowes or something prolly another 5 bux and then lucense plate lights like 9 bux they screw onto the license plate so you can just zip tie the license plate and run wires i will warn u the wires on those lights are super thin like literally 2 strands of thun wire so they do burn out but they coke in a 4 pack for 9 bux so as long as u can solder ure good you can opt for a better more durable light but these were cheap. If you dont have a brake light you will need to get a brake light and brake light switch either lever activated or get an inline pressure activated one lever ones are like 20 bux or something cheap like that inline ones are more expensive probably closer to the 60-100 dollar price range. You can probably use a dual sport tail light assembly and get your license plate light, brake lights, and rear light in one light that wasnt really an option for me because i didn't want to remove the stock light. Headlights have to have high and low beams. Mine already had this lights idk off your raptor does or doesn't ive seen raptors with no lights i know new ones have lights and a brake light because some trails actually require it like in California plus they require you to have a whip flag too on the dunes. But as long as you can find dot tires and you know how to solder you should be fine. And you need at least 1 mirror. I had the item left handed mirror that mounted to the brake lever so maybe check your levers for a place that can accept a mirror mine was hidden with a bracket and bolt on the master cylinder.

@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
This question warrants a long answer. But the short version is you gotta consider ur budget and what conditions you plan to use it in and what u want out of ur atv. Are u going to be dedicated running thru mud all the time, you gonna be on dirt roads or dirt tracks or sand, are u gonna use it more like a dual sport drive on the road most time but are gonna take it on the trails sometimes, in most cases u will not need 4wd unless u are driving in low traction conditions like snow, ice, or mud if ur using it for road use its best to go with 500 cc or more or an atv that can do atleast 65mph even if u plan to only ride around 50mph it just makes it better wen u have to pass people. This 570xt is my first atv it checked all my boxes. Over 500cc, affordable, power steering, automatic transmission, utility rack, 4 wheel drive and a winch because i always ride alone. Can ams have the added benefit of putting out more hp than any other brand, so this 570cc pretty much equates to a 700cc in other brands power wise except u save on the price tag. These brand new retail for 10k. About 4k more u get a 1000cc. Can ams have a downside that everything cost at least 200 bux to fix wen it breaks or even general maintenance. They have issues with their diffs blowing out, their fuel pumps failing, and running hot. I never had any of these issues but if u get the extended warranty like i did it gets covered minus a 50 dollar deductable which labor alone is like 75/hr. Now if you wanted to go the cheap route you can do a 2 wheel drive racing atv 250cc or greater. Those are usually not automatic, they are a lot lighter smaller lighter wheels and therefore can go faster with a smaller engine, they come with good suspension usually so that comes in handy with turning, however they are chain driven so more to maintain, however they are simple machines usually very easy to work on as everything is usually accessable without taking off the fairings and for the most part they can be purchased around 3-5k used however these atvs are usually abused and bashed around in conditions they are not meant to be used in.

Inspection is not required where its registered. Pa is one of the few states that require inspection but south dakota doesnt require inspections. It goes of where its registered for example vehicles in pa if registered in Berks county have to get emissions inspection done while a vehicle registered in Northumberland county do not require emissions inspection and you wont get a ticket for not having an emissions inspection done for driving into Berks county with a vehicle registered in Northumberland county because it's legal where the vehicle is registered. Same applies to out of state vehicles. New Yorkers or New Jersians wont get tickets for not having PA state inspection when driving in PA because their vehicles comply with the laws with where they are registered.

Insurance ... tell me about that ... in my state we are required to have coverage. Being with one of the big 4 insurance companies, they have no classification for ATVs since there is basically no registration history for ATVs that were designed for on road use. However, this is something I would like to see changed in the Ohio Revised Code so that we could purchase factory ATVs designed and engineered to meet DOT and be titled for on road use. I love all my bikes, but would certainly like to have an ATV built with a sport-bike style drivetrain. The last safety item to be considered is the rear differential. With most current designs, you're on a solid axle therefore, the tighter the turning radius the more scrub between the inner and outer rear wheels will occur. Need to incorporate a limited slip diff or open ended rear diff hence ... a differential. Would greatly improve corning control. There are some manufactures that make ATV's with limited slip diffs.
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 6 ай бұрын
Yup the canam has a locked rear diff and a auto lock front diff the rear diff went one time and was replaced under warranty. But thats the great thing about this whole process is that it doesnt matter wat ur state says. Cuz legally its registered and plated as a motorcycle not an atv. Wen the police run it, it will come back motorcycle. And since every state has to honor out of state registrations as long as they are valid and in compliance with the laws of the state they are registered in. But its not a local law that makes the atv road legal like atvs being allowed to ride on the roads in shamokin, pa. Thats a local law or like other states ohv laws. The way its registered its registered as a motorcycle not an atv which is the main difference. However this eont stop cops from pulling u over and telling u its not legal. Its been fought and won in courts of almost every state.

Do you need a motorcycle license to drive the quad? I don’t have a motorcycle and for me to get this and then a motorcycle to take the test would be a headache unless you could take the test with the quad since it’s a motorcycle
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
I already had a motorcycle and a motorcycle license. So it never was a question in my mind. Call dirt legal and ask them they wouod know. I beleive in south dakota class c is all u need. But from wat i understand anything with a saddle that you straddle you need a motorcycle license for anything with a seat you can use a regular license for. Examples would be can am spyder/ryker vs polaris sling shot. Theres a difference i think one is considered an auto cycle and one is a 3 wheeled motorcycle which you can take ur skills test and get a license for 3 wheeled motorcycles if u live in pa its a different course from 2 wheeled. Though the dmv will probably be stumped and not know if u can or not. But technically no rule saying you cant take the test on a 4 wheeled MOTORCYCLE. It does exclude atvs from general use but beings that its a MOTORCYCLE u should be able to take the skills test on it however that being said you might roll it on the skills test because these things are not built for road standards. The thing is its a thing that exists thats legal thats not supposed to be possibly legal in pa therefore theres no rules to explicitly exclude it since technically pa has no definition for a 4 wheeled motorcycle only exception is with a set of training wheels and 3 have to be on the same axle they are very specific about that but only 3 are allowed to touch the ground at a time its dumb. But if i had to guess if u showed up to a test course on your 4 wheeled motorcycle theyd probably be stumped and probably go with their 1st assumption it's not allowed and tell u to go away and call u an idiot or they might be super fascinated with it and think its the coolest thing ever probably call a few more people out to see if its legal. Ive done this and the dmv will tell you no its an atv on the road way. But the registered state makes it legally regustered as a motorcycle. Wen police run it in their computers it cokes back as a motorcycle i had multiple officers run mine cuz i truly wanted to know im like lets run it and find out if it comes back as a motorcycle cuz it should and it does and they are always saying in my xx years of law enforcement i never saw anything like this. But as lomg as u got ur dot tires and required lights theres no equipmemt violations. U can give it a try but id say its a hit or miss. Though im pretty sure u have to go by pa laws for licensing and sd laws for your 4 wheeled motorcycle.

Hey great video! Question I have been looking to find out my state regulations for the plate transfers anyway you could point me in the right direction I live in MASS. Also do you have insurance from your state or from S/D. I know that in MA you must have insurance, so would it be alright if I obtain insurance from my state & be registered to another. Thank you!!
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
According to my insurance company Progressive. Your insurance is supposed to be wherever you actually use it the most. So since i live and drive in pa i insure in pa. Regulations for plate transferrs will not work if ur state doesnt have a definition for a 4 wheeled motorcycle. So once u register in SD you just keep it registered there. You can find everything in chapter 90 in regards to vehicle registration. Go to malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartI/TitleXIV/Chapter90. However your state does have a low speed vehicle law that allows them to operate on roads with a speed limit no greater than 30 mph, your state also allows the registration of 3 wheeled motorcycle if it has an enclosed cab like a slingshot buy they can put speed restricyions on your registration if they beleive they cant go above 40mph. But for your out of state registration it is exempt under title 90 section 3 exemption for non residents. You will need to register to an out of state LLC really doesnt matter what state but u need to so ur LLC cant meet their 30 day operating rule where it says no more than 30 days per year without transferring to your state. But since ur LLC is not conducting business in that state and u can say ur LLC is wherever regardless of where you physically are makes you exempt. To try and clarify its confusing. You are not your LLC. So you can physically be in one location and your LLC can be in another. Also 1 thing to be aware of you renew your registration in SD based on the first letter of your last name they use to determine when your registration will be due. So it will be due the same month every year for every vehicle you own. Say your last name determines your reg is due in march and you just purchased ur vehicle in january and bought registration. You still need to renew in march.

@@johnnyrodriguez9767 sorry for the late reply didnt see ur comment in my notifications i just sww it in my email today. Butt yea dirt legal does the paperwork end they dont charge tax on their prices what it is on their website is what you pay. However to transfer your title to another state you will need proof u paid sales tax wen u purchased it. Otherwise you will be charged i think 5% of fair market value for taxes wen u transfer. But as long as you put all the proper equipment on your dirtbike you should be able to just change the definition on the title to dual sport. Im pretty sure its just the same process south dakota has where u sign an affadavit swearing u installed the required dot items. Now with that said ur bike will have to then pass pa state inspection every year. Honestly imo you should just keep it registered out of state to an LLC that way u never have to get pa state inspection again. I actually just had them do this for my motorcycle with a cut exhaust so i got a sd tag on there now. But id def give dirt legal a call they can at least point u in the right direction. Honestly im pretty sure pa has a couple forms to fill out and u have to have a vin verification done by either a police officer or mechanic u have to do this no matter what so be sure ur bike isnt stolen.

I live in Lancaster and i wanted to know what class license m dose it fall in what about bumbers and how do u inspect it
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
No inspection required as its registered out if state and they dont require unspections in their state. Just like if u lived in northumberland county they dont require emissions inspection it doesnt make it illegal to drive to berks county where they do require it. Its a regular class m license due to the engine size and the fact it has a seat that u straddle. If you do it with a sxs that has bucket seats you only need a class c and its considered an autocycle. Bumpers are not required on a motorcycle. Mine did have bumpers though they really kept the damage minimal wen i hit a deer with it. The only items you must have are described in the video and thats pretty much the universal requirements thruout the us except california who has additional laws for how close your lights can be together so u cant run combination tail lights with integrated turn signals well its like that in most states but usually not enfoced usually turn signals have to be min 14" apart. But since u live in pa like i do the same thing i do is legal for u. The issue now is that departements are having extra hate towards atvs both legal and illegal due to the wreckless actions of those riding carelessly and destructively in the cities like philly. But the fact is this was already found to be legal by the supreme court in pa. But i know i recently read a news article stating they were going to be targeting atvs registered out of state they are claiming to fake businesses. But an llc is valid as long as it has an asset and if u assign ur atv to it as an asset its perfectly legal and legitimate theres no need to have ongoing transactions or tax records if youre not selling anything. The LLC is an asset holding which is perfectly legal to do. Trucking companies and small businesses do it all the time especially wen theres more than 1 owner that way they can only sell assets with consent of all the owners im not gonna go in depth with this but needless to say i encountered no issues wen it came time to sell mine to a dealership as far as title is concerned because u are the sole owner of the LLC. I even registered my regular motorcycle to it to avoid inspection cuz i had a chopped exhaust in my sport bike needless to say it wouldnt have passed pa inspection. And replacement was over 1k for that exhaust alone. You can do it for cars as well. If u have an off road suv, truck watever. As long as u slap dot tires on it and have lights and plate on it no inspection required so u dont have to legally tow it to the trail anymore u can legally drive it or just reguster it in california where u dont even need an windahield on ur car if u register as an ohv. Or if u dont wanna have to deal with inspections anymore just do it with ur daily driver too. In like 5 years it will pay for itself with all the crap mechanics try and tell u that u need to replace to pass inspection. Mechanics only get a 25 dollar penalty for lying and can lose their inspection license if they are caught so not much at stake if they do lie.

No its not. The insurance just goes off wherever you drive it most according to my insurance company progressive. My pa license is valid. It wouldnt match the registration because the registration has the name of your business on it. However south dakota does allow you to register as a non resident so your south dakota registration can legally have your pa address on it because the state of south dakota allows it.
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Other states that require things to match they can still match. The reason why you do an LLC is because most states make exemptions from the requirements to register in your home state if the vehicle is registered to an out of state business. Thats why you register it to an out of state LLC doesnt really matter what state as an LLC cant meet the requirements to establish residency so you can register in any state you want. That way your LLC owns it and you own ur LLC. So you still have the same authority to sell it under your company name because you are the sole organizer. If there was more than 1 organizer then youd have an issue because youd have to get all organizers permissions to sell it. And the states that require things to matvh cant make that requirement for a business vehicle other wise every township or state worker would have to have their name on the state owned vehicle they are driving. Same as construction workers or contractors that go to another state.

Cant do it with pa plate. Pa doesnt let u do it because their definition of a motorcycle limits it 2 3 wheels. 4 wheels is only allowed if ony 3 wheels touch the ground at the same time and if 3 of the 4 wheels are on the rear. Im assuming this is for stabilizer/training wheels on a motorcycle. Also vehicle reg is usually done by vin so u get off road vin or on road vin. The reason why it works for south dakota reg is because they actually let u register your atv as a motorcycle legally changing it from off road vehicle to motorcycle without changing the vin. So u have to keep it registered in that state. However if u go to florida with a pa plate the state police told me as long as it has a plate with valid registeration and insurance we dont care. Now i dont think the trooper realized we actually have to register and plate our atvs by law to ride on state property. But our plate is an off road registration. But idk it seemed like everything goes in florida most of the police are very laid back. Ive only been stopped a few time in pa riding back and forth from fro property. I also used it to grocery shop, run errands my local police doesnt usually pull over atvs cuz they just assume its a farm vehicle. But i no longer have it i sold it street legal to a motorcycle dealership. I wanted money to get a velomobile i had half the amount saved up and it was a grab the deal now type of oppurtunity to get it for a good price.

@outtyoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
This is not legal advice: You may be able to fight it in court by stating its legally registered as a motorcycle and present your valid registration card. 1st thing they will say why havent u transferred this to your home state because its registered to your out of state LLC and therefore not required to transfer as per state sectjon bkah blah blah usually the vehicle code that states registration requirement in your state will have an exemption for vehicles registered to an out of state business. As long as you have all required dot equipmemt they cant hit u on equipmemt requirement. As far as definition as far as im aware it goes off the home state its registered in to define what the vehicle is but theres no law clearly stating this is the case in most states its the judges call except states like i think new york specifically states its defined by the home state its registered in. So the ticket if u get one will most likely be illegal operation of an atv/off road vehicle on the roadway. This is clearly false as atv/off road doesnt apply to motorcycles. You can also reach out yo dort legal they are usually happy to answer any questions u may have. My experience wen ive been stopped they dont beleive it can come back as a motorcycle and they come back with a good attitude and check the vin like thats pretty cool. Of course a positive attitude helps a lot.

Almost every state has what's called a reciprocity law. Which is the law that allows vehicles registered in other states to legally operate in their state. See nj title 39 3-15 you can find it in the link below. Basically as long as long as it complies with the state it's registered in its legal and as long as ur not renting, leasing, or for hire with it you are not engaged in out of state business. You will be operating it as a non resident as it will not be registered directly to you. This is why you need an LLC that way your LLC is the owner of the vehicle and since ur LLC can't have residency it is a non resident in every state. Your LLC doesn't have to have any business records unless u are using ur LLC to sell things and u have an income. Since ur LLC doesn't sell anything you don't have to keep records for ur llc just a certificate that ur dues for the LLC is paid even then the police will never ask u for this because they have no idea what is going on. They will argue that you have x amount of days to register in ur home state however you are exempt from doing so if the vehicle belongs to an out of state business thus the LLC is needed unless you are engaged in regular business in NJ. And since you are not selling anything you are not conducting business in the state of NJ. Your LLC is there completely for show but is legitimate because u paid for the LLC name in watever state u choose to have it in. An LLC is considered valid as long as its properly registered and has an asset watever you assign to it will become your LLC asset. Yes you can sell it even wen its titled in the name of ur LLC i had no issues wen selling mine to a dealer that way. I wouldn't put it in your home state because the police may try and argue that the LLC is in NJ therefore u have to register in NJ it's not true but just so u don't gotta argue about it. The reciprocity is also backed up by 39:3-6.21 so the commissioner can't just revolk ur reciprocity. So as far as ur state laws go it seems it's the same as any other states. But that being said u will get pulled over, and do pull over to run with plates on. In NJ there's a no chase law. Most times I just see police sitting there watching ppl ride thru the parks with dirt bikes and stuff cuz they aren't allowed to chase. law.justia.com/codes/new-jersey/2021/title-39/

Do you need a class m license?

So this is kind of a grey area. Technically yes and no. Yes if it has a seat that you straddle and handlebars and is registered as a motorcycle id say u need a class m. But also no at the same time because pa doesnt have. Adefinition for a 4 wheeled motorcycle so therefore technically its not cinsidered a motorcycle in pa but u have a pa drivers license. And the state ur license is in determines wat license you need to operate it. I have. A class m anyways so i new i was good either way. Its weird because the state its registered in defines the vehicle but the state ur licese is in defines what license you need if that makes sense at least from my understanding an experience on the law. A sxs wouod be different because they have seats and a steering wheel so they are usually considered auto cycles and u only need a class c. However same grey area cuz pa only says autocycles only have 3 wheels so technically still undefined. Wen i asked dirt legal about it they said u do not need a class m for them. But i would say if its registered as a motorcycle id say its best to have a class m so theres no argument either way about licensing with the officer.

The issue is in west virginia they still register as an atv/street legal special purpose vehicle. So it doesnt get a motorcycle registration. Its a state law that allows it to be used on the road not a definition of the vehicle. So to answer your question no you cannot ride it to pa without issues. Because pa doesnt have an ohv or special purpose vehicle ordnance that allows them on the road. Thats why in south dakota they have 4 wheeled motorcycle definition. Because then its a motorcycle and abides by the laws of a motorcycle which is what throws cops for a loop because they beleive its registered as an ohv in another state wen its not. Though most states with ohv laws dont make you get turn signals on ur quad, also they are not required on anything with a seat that you straddle sxs you would have to however you will have to use hand arm signals in place of turn signals so i put turn signals on cuz id rather keep my hands on the bars because atvs you have to muscle in a turn where regular bikes u just lean. But turn signals on motorcycles are not a legal requirement in any state as far as im aware of. However in california if your turn signals are not so far apart you can get a ticket for it. So people that do fender elimination kits out there get tickets for that. But yea sadly its just their state law that alows it not the registration. And from what i recall it was only around hatfield mccoy trail systems. And they also are not allowed on highways or in heavily populated areas or residential areas. At least thats what i heard im not 100% on that west virginia i know doesnt have an issue with my registration. Because i called and asked because i was going to ride out there to do hatfield/mccoy trails as an overland thing and certain sections only street legal vehicles like motorcycles can drive on.

Very rarely will they register them in a state that requires annual inspections because then theyd have to drive them all the way back there to get inspected. So if say ur a pa resident and drive a uhaul pickup truck registered in lets say texas most are registered in texas you dont have to get pa inpection in order to drive that on thw road because it belongs to an out of state business even though the business that leased it to u is physically in state.

@outtyoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. It would. However you would contantly be mistaked as an ohv. But theres a difference between an ohv registration and a 4 wheeled motorcycle registration. In south dakota they have ohv reg and then the ability to make it street legal by equipping it with dot required equipment for a motorcycle your atv will most likely have everything except a mirror, horn, license plate lights and dot approved tires and reregistering it as a motorcycle and u sign an affadavit swearing to DOR that you have equipped the necessary items pretty much just honor system they dont check or inspect it or anything. However you could get a ticket if you get pulled over for every dot item that is not equipped or not working properly. Same as you would on a motorcycle. Look at it like the dual sport conversion process but instead of a dirtbike its an atv. And since it's registered as a motorcycle it goes by motorcycle laws so anywhere you can drive a motorcycle you can drive your quad. Pretty much none of the officers i have run into swear in their 15+ years of experience theyve never seen anything like it and they just assume its not properly regustered or that the local laws of the state its registered in is wat allows it on the roads. So like west virginia you can register and inspect your atv for road use however it doesnt get reregistered as a motorcycle its the local laws that allow it to be on the road as an atv, utv, etc. Just like in florida u can drive golf carts on the road for local travel on the far right side of the road thats just a local law that allows that. In the process i went thru it legally redefined the atv as a motorcycle. And states can say they dont honor it but if that were the case they wouldnt allow dual sports on their road that were converted in other states. Thing is they see atv. They think atv. They say it cant meet their definition of a motorcycle which they are correct it doesnt and it cant however the regustered state does and their state law has to honor non resident registration otherwise they would be able to legally ticket someone for not having that states plates on their vehicle. The same issue comes into play with inspections they cant legally give you a ticket for not having pa state inspection when you have california plates where inspection isnt required just annual smog however a state cant enforce another states laws as they dont have jurisdiction. South dakota says you cant use the atv registered as a motorcycle on their highways. However they cant give you a ticket in a different state for violating that law as they dont have jurisdiction. This all being said you will get pulled over almost always and they will tell you what you are doing is wrong, when its not. The best thing you can do is be kind and explain it to them. If they dont wanna hear it let them cite you and let the judge decide however its on a case by case basis. So u can get cited multiple times and have to go to court multiple times however it would not be wise of the officers to keep citing you when youve already won in court.

The main difference being the way you are seated. Motorcycles have seats that you straddle (legs down both sides) and autocycles have seats that u sit in (legs go off the front). I was told that you dont need a motorcycle license for a quad either but i dont think that's accurate, but technically a 4 wheeled motorcycle doesnt exist by definition in most states so its kind of an unknown, id rather have it and need it, than need it an not have it.

You get a new title doing it this way stating it's a motorcycle correct? So why not just transfer it to PA?
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Because pa doesnt have a classification for a 4 wheeled motorcycle the most wheels pa has a definition for motorcycle for is 3. And both wheels have to be on the rear. So like the can-am spyders and rykers are technically not even allowed on the road in pa but the law has been ignored. However that being said in almost every state their law states it goes by the state that it goes by the owners home state since the owner is the LLC it doesnt matter. Currently im in Florida and down here if it has a plate on there for road use they leave you alone. I called florida highway patrol and the local sherriff and they both said as long as its legally registered as a motorcycle and has a plate on it you are fine.

My main question now is, would you have to do any additional annual paperwork with the dummy LLC in south Dakota(TAX FILINGS,ETC.) or are you able to leave it completely dormant, just for this purpose? Planned on doing this with my current dirt bike and eventually with whatever ATV I decide to purchase soon. Thanks!

No you dont do anything tax wise because you have no profits to report. And it depends on the state u get ur LLC in how often you have to renew it. My LLC was done in New Mexico so it has a 1 time fee of like 59 dollars to register it. Then to make it legitimate you have to register an asset to it. That asset being my outlander 570. The LLC is merely an asset holding company that you are the main organizer of. You will have a difficult time doing this if you financed your vehicle. As the finance company would have to let you register it to the LLC. The LLC is only required if your state has a requirement for you to register in your home state within a certain amount of time. The LLC part is only to make you exempt to this rule as most states have a reciprocity agreement if the vehicle is registered to an out of state business. Now you can register to South Dakota as a non resident of south dakota meaning you put your current address on it and they have no requirement to transfer from their state. However you do have an annual registration of like 60 bux in south dakota. And of course you have to keep insurance on it.

Just so I'm clear and didn't misunderstand you: If I registered in south dakota, I could keep it registered there regardless of what PA laws are? @@PanamanianKilla1 yes you can keep your south dakota plates on there because if you lookup pa title 75 section 1303 says this "1303. Vehicles of nonresidents exempt from registration. (a) General rule.--A nonresident owner of any foreign vehicle may operate or permit the operation of the vehicle within this Commonwealth without registering the vehicle in this Commonwealth or paying any fees to the Commonwealth, provided the vehicle at all times when operated in this Commonwealth is duly registered and in full compliance with the registration requirements of the place of residence of the owner" as long as you are not using it to transport persons for hire, regularly conducting business within the commonwealth meaning your not using it for business here. And it goes on to define these things that dont exempt you. But short story as long as your not using it to conduct business your exempt.

@@PanamanianKilla1 another issue would be its electric. South dakota has a minimum requirement for it to be at least 200 cc and this is for atvs to become motorcycles and at least 100cc for dirt bikes to become motorcycles. However i do beleive you can register it in pa legally you pretty much have to do the dirt bike to motorcycle process where you pretty much go ahead fill out the proper forms you will have to submit an affidavit stating you installed all dot required items for the state of pa as well as get the vin verification done by state police or garage you have to send in your title or have your certificate of origin turned into a title usually u have to prove you paid sales tax thats equal or more than pa wen u bought it if not then you have to pay the 6% sales tax for it and then you have to wait for your title. Then you do the paperwork and process mentioned above to convert it if it says off road. Im pretty sure thats all you do. I think it would fall under motor driven cycle if it has less than 5 brake horse power. Other than that its a motorcycle. I know theres a way to convert dirtbikes to dual sports. However if you do this just know you will no longer be able to use it on any public dirt bike trail in pa except for those designated specifically for dual sports. Its dumb. But honestly dcnr was unsure of how they would exclude the street legal atv and couldnt give me a definitive answer however the registration department said if its not registered to pa dcnr then it cant ride on any public trails.

why not just transfer it to your state after its legally titled as a mc from SD?
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Because pa doesn't have a class for 4 wheeled motorcycles and South Dakota does. So if u transferred it back it would just be classified as an atv again. Where its registered is what gets to define what it is. Not where you operate it. For example dune buggies in California can legally be used on the roads other than highways as ohvs. However you cannot come here and use them because it's only a local law that allows it and doesn't change the definition to a road legal vehicle. The difference between that and this. Is wen u register is south Dakota it's actually redefined on the title and registration as a motorcycle and that is linked to ur Vin and plate. Where as ohvs are still titled as off road vehicles.

@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
@@adamnasrallah4101 the short answer is no you cannot drive any motor vehicle on a public road way without a license or permit. Depending on yoir state you may be at legal age to get your license or if you live in a farming area and belong to a farm you can use it as an implement of husbandry which that only allows you tot ravel between properties idk if you need a license or not but i have seen menonite use sxs on the road that were roughly 13 years old so... And 16 is actually the min age to ride these even on popular atv destinations set forth by the park policies and usually require an adult to be present. So no if you dont have a licenese i beleive the only motor vehicle you can ride on a public road way depending on your state is a restricted ebike pedal assist or throttle varries by state and city, or a motorized bicycle with 50cc or less must be limited to 25mph, no more than 5 hp, and even then it varies by city and state laws for those some cities or states will prohibit them or require u to possess a class c license to operate them and/or require you to register and put a registration sticker on the rear portion of the bicycle. Some cities like San Diego literally require you to register your bicycle with the city. Bicycles become a complicated topic especially wen you look at things like velomobiles, and micro ev's which laws have yet to be developed in most states except california, ny, nj, major cities with high polulation areas. Keep in mind that the ada also comes in handy as well so if you have a disability you may be able to legally use an atv as a mobility device and go places normal people cant even take their atvs like state game lands usually allow persons with disabilities to use and hunt from atvs on SGL with the proper permits. But in short for the procedure i describe in my video no would not apply to those who dont have a license. Some states only require a class c for motorcycles with more than 2 wheels usually meant for trikes. But i already had my class m. In case you dont know the difference theres several classes of licenses class C, M, B, A, AM, X, etc depending on the state. The 2 commons are C and M which is car and motorcycle the others you cannot obtain until after you over 21 federal guidelines. Some states restrict the age of which you can obtain a motorcycle license to an older age than a class c.

@@bryancortes7557 the dirt legal one shows it wen they first transfer it it will be in ur name then u send it all back to them to transfer to an LLC. They said the reason why theu do it this way is because they deal with a lot of states and not all states have a mandatory transfer to their home state. So registering it in your name is no issue in some other states. But thats why you pay for the LLC processing separately. And wen i got my stuff back it all had my LLC name on it. I was stopped b4 it had my LLC name on it honestly all the officers didnt know what to do. They said it came back as a motorcycle wen they ran it and they would just let me on my way even with my name on it because legally its a motorcycle. And it had my pa address on it and they were just like how can u have ur pa address on an out of state reg? And yea you can do it the montana way or the south dakota way. They are both the same. Street legal sxs bully people who dont do it their way. At least they bullied me wen all i did was share my experience and wen i asked for explaination on their stance why their way was better they said little to nothing and just kept calling me and other commenters stupid and wrong and saying we are doing it illegally needless to say it ended with me telling them they are very rude and disrespectful and i was even part of their facebook group and they banned me wen other members were cutious about the sd way its done and wen i was explaining they agreed it was pretty much the same process with 2 differences. 1 the LLC for montana is in montana their way the sd way the llc is from anywhere cuz the llc doesnt have to be from the state the vehicle is registered in so you save money on the LLC end too. The street legal sxs way cost a lot of money and its the same result except sd has annual reg renewal where from wat i understand montana is once and done. But either way sd is like 59 bux a year. I cant justify the 3k that streetlegal sxs is charging for their services at the time idk wat it is now but the first reg is the most expensive on their end. As far as them saying you save on sales tax well you dont cuz u paid the sales tax of pa if you bought in pa so it doesnt save you any. Plus you will still get pulled over with their reg as well. It even says so on their website its the nature of the beast.

To get around the no atvs on the road law, all states have a law that allows non residential registration usually under the rehistration requirements part of your state vehicle code otherwise people would just get tickets for driving into that state with other state plates on, make sense? States also allow out of state registration for non residents your business is the owner and is the non resident. Your atv is legal because its legallay registered as a motorcycle and complies with the laws of its home state, they wont beleive you and tell you to get a tow, dont listen to them tell them to run ur reg it will come back a motorcycle they will be scratvhing their heads and say they dont know wat to do if its a statey they will usually give u a written warning and cite illegal atv on the toad way which is not valid because its registered as a motorcycle kinda same difference between a dirt bike and a dual sport motorcycle is just the registration and the lighting. If you watched my videos i explain all the requirements uou have to meet for it to be street legal they dont check or nothing its the honor system you sign a paper stating you conformed to the legal requirements of course if u dont the police can give u a ticket for the things u are not complying with you basically just comply with all requirements a motorcycle has to except the 2-3 wheel thing i think people who do this conversion are most commonly gonna be cited for illegal atv on a road way watever that citation is in ur state which is not true take it to court for sure if u get this ticket show your motorcycle reg with ur vin number on it they cant cite you for an atv if its not an atv and the next question they will ask is how long has it been here and ehy havent u transferred the reg to your state just say its registered to a business and show the law that allows it and then little things like non dot approved tires cuz its hard to find good off road dot approved tires in this size, no tag light cuz most people just zip tie thier license plates on there and dont bother with a tag light, etc. As far as LLC name you just make one up. To legally establish an LLC all u need to do is apply for it in the state u wanna have ur llc registered to the state you LLC doesnt have to be the state youre registering your vehicle in because businesses can register their vehicles out of state. In most states to make it valid all u need to do is pay the LLC registration fee and assign an asset to it. Your atv is the asset wen you register it to your llc. No you dont need to file taxes in another state unless youve made more than 500 bux in that state. Which since your llc is not selling goods or services youre not required to keep records a certain way. An LLC is not required to sell goods or services. Companies that use LLC are usually owned by multiple people that way legally all money is split evenly amongst the owners and one owner cant sell without consent from the other owners. So like in this example say you and your brother decide to buy an atv together. You both want equal ownership so you can reguster it to an LLC and have you and your brothers names down on the LLC that way your brother cant just decide oh im gonna sell it and keep all the money cuz they cant sell it without ur consent to sell it and they cant keep the money because all is distributed evenly legally. But an LLC doesnt have to be registered to more than 1 person wen u do it thru dirt legal you are the sole owner/member of the LLC. So wen i sold mine to a dealership they said its just like doing a dealer to dealer transfer. You just sign the title normally and you show your proof of ownership of the LLC which is usually just a reciept showing that you paid the LLC fee in that state and that you are the sole member and youre good. Most people get this idea that you have to make money thru ur llc or its not legit, or that you have to be in that state to make an LLC well you dont. Look at most trucking companies on the road that say LLC. Their LLC will usually be somewhere other than where their company is and have indiana plates, but wen u look on the side of their truck it says theyre from florida or something else. So yes its legal to do this. It depends on the state you get your LLC in what requirements you have to meet like annual LLC fees or not. And you dont have to have you LLC in the registered state. My LLC was registered in New Mexico the physical address listed was a law firm. But it gets sent to the mailing address they put on there. So it may sound fishy or illegal but the law allows you to do this with LLC as long as you pay the state fees and the name u picked aint taken yet they dont care. State fees are like 100 bux total and most states its a once and done deal. The terms of an LLC are determined by the state but dont worry dirt legal has a lot of experience doing this so they know what states to use that you have minimum fees and usually 1 time and its good for life. They can even set u up an address forwarding service if you really want to do that but its not required usually.

Also unfortunately on the side of the road everything is at the officers discretion. However if they wanna be a dick you can get them on charges like unlawful detainment, unlawful seizure of property if they have it towed, slander if u end up in the paper for it, the officers will get a good talking to by the supreme courts as local courts usually uphold officers claims, the traffic stop itself will be valid so dont try and run cuz they can pull u over with reasonable suspicion that ur violating a law even if ur not and if u run u add evading which just makes almost every cop that ids u in the future take ur keys/ get nasty with u. Im just saying explain wat u can on the side of the road if u ever chose to do it. If u have all required equipment u have nothing to worry about. But if ur in a rural area most officers assume u are using it under the laws of husbandry pertaining to farm vehicles thats a whole other section and only works if u own multiple farms locally. Also be aware if ure riding like a dick popping wheelies doing burn outs, etc thats careless/wreckless driving. Dont do it on the road save it for private property where u are legally allowed to ride. Even then dcnr can have a field day with u by claiming ure disturbing habitats just look at the guy that drove thru a small stream on his friends property with his ford raptor they are pursuing him.

Can you just put a slow-moving vehicle sign flashers on it and be done with it because you don't go over 25 no way bottom line is a slow-moving vehicle is a vehicle that cannot reach a high rated speed of not more than 25 miles an hour or less
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Im not sure where you got the idea the atv only does 25 and that ur not gonna go faster than 25. This 570 does 72-75mph the 1000 version will do i think around 85-90mph i have taken it on the interstate. But no, a slow moving vehicle placard is only for slow moving vehicles that are allowed on the road like farm equipment and horse and buggies or any other vehicle that is limited to 15mph under the posted speed limit. Id have to double check but i dont beleive a slow moving vehicle placard is required if u have flashers or a safety beacon. Rural mail carriers only use safety beacons or a light bar on their jeeps around here. A slow moving vehicle placard doesnt make it street legal. Thats why you need to register it this way because it allows it to be legally registered as a motorcycle. And when any cop runs the reg it will come back as a motorcycle. However, when registered as a motorcycle you need to have all the equipment thats required by law to be on a motorcycle including dot approved tires. Cuz they can still write u a ticket for not having the proper equipment. A couple cops said i probably dont even have dot approved tires on it i showed them the dot approval on the tire hes like you really did everything on this, im like yup im tryna follow the law to a t. I do the speed limit, i use my turn signals though u can skip installing turn signals and use hand signals instead, even had tag lights. The one officer was really surprised i even went so far as to put tag lights on. But unfortunately no matter how much u follow the law they will still pull u over cuz its unusual, i never got cited and ive ridden in in multiple states down the east coast. But speaking if odd vehicles I even get pulled over on my velomobile and thats not even motorized or electric assist just all pedal powered just cuz its odd. The main things police care about is if its registered and insured and has functioning lights and that youre following the law. Its kind of a grey area that this operates in but its legal it has been brought to court several times and they found in our favor i carried around the copies of the cases where it was found legal in our state by the courts. And one case went to the supreme court of pennsylvania. Because they have to honor out of state registrations and as long as its compliant in its home state (where its registered) they have to honor it they dont have a choice says so in our state law. This is different from ohv law because the state ure currently riding in has to have an ohv law otherwise ur riding an ohv in a state that doesnt allow ohvs on the road. When its registered as a motorcycle every state allows motorcycles on the road. But i was told last week by an officer at the va cuz he remembered talking to me about my street legal atv he said that the attorney general announced they wouldnt reciprocate the registrations anymore for atvs registered in montana or south dakota however i have found nothing on the matter simply because the ag would not be allowed by federal law to deny it. I beleive the officer was misinformed.

@@outtyoutdoors how can you classify that or registered as a motorcycle has four tires not two or three
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@stevenmay8763 because south dakota allows you to register it as a 4 wheeled motorcycle as long as u put the street legal equipment on it. And its legally registered as a motorcycle in that state. Which means its legally a motorcycle in any state because its compliant as a motorcycle in its home state. The only reason why you cant do this in pa is because pa law doesnt have a registration for a 4 wheeled motorcycle unless 3 wheels are on the rear and only 3 wheels are touching the ground at any given time (stabilizer/training wheels). Pa defines it as atv if it were registered in pa. However since its not registered in pa even if its not legal for pa state laws it is legal as long as its compliant in its home state. This is the pa law title 75 section 1303. "A nonresident owner of any foreign vehicle may operate or permit the operation of the vehicle within this Commonwealth without registering the vehicle in this Commonwealth or paying any fees to the Commonwealth, provided the vehicle at all times when operated in this Commonwealth is duly registered and in full compliance with the registration requirements of the place of residence of the owner". Since the owner is ur LLC which by law cannot meet the legal requirements for residency is a non resident. Trucking companies fo this all the time. For example Maverick Transportation LLC their HQ is in Little Rock, Arkansas however all their trucks, trailers, etc are registered in indiana. Another example vehicles regustered in Berks county pa are required to have emissions and safety inspection, however northumberlan county only requires safety inspection. So if u drive over to berks county pa with ur vehicle registered in northumberland county, you cannot be fined for not having a vslid emissions inspection because its compliant in the county its registered in. But the way south dakota does it for atvs is very similar the way pa does it for dual sport motorcycle conversions for dirt bikes. Its basically the same thing but with 4 wheels instead of 2 or 3. However just because its legal doesnt mean the police wont give u a ticket or try and impound it. Its more of a fight it in court later. But like i said i havent been cited the mskt i got was from state police was a written warning because they said "we really dont know if this is legal or not". But i drove by the same officers and waved and they waved back since even after calling me and sayung they spoke to penn dot and they said its not legal. I said penndot is confusing ohv laws with registration laws. But they were just like well just lettin u know ure not supposed to have it on the road. But my process was let them give me a ticket and we will find out. I never got a ticket. And tbh once they pulled me over ran the reg it was valid and was a motorcycle that area's officers usually didnt bother me again. In florida wen i rode it down there they literally dont care as long as it had a plate on it. Even pa reg plate they didnt care cuz all they wanted is it to be registered and insured according to the local sherriff i spoke to and the fhp officers is poke to. However apparently national parks are considered private property and make up their own rules that u cant even park in the parking lots.

Congratulations. You’ve discovered a loop hole that allows you to drive an atv on the road. I’ve been a cop for 15 years and realistically, there is very little anyone ever has to fear when it comes to registration, insurance or moving violations this day in age. But God help you if the IRS ever latches on to you and you don’t have your ducks in a row for your LLC. The IRS can make your life a living hell in ways that will leave you wishing you hadn’t been born. Stick to a real motorcycle, folks. It isn’t worth the headache for most people who think it’s as easy as filling out some paperwork and filing annual income reports and paying filing fees. If this becomes a trend, the state will conduct an audit and you’ll be toast…unless you have legit revenue to report in South Dakota.
@outtyoutdoors
@outtyoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Theres no audit for an llc that is purely for asset holding. The llc doesnt even have to be in south dakota because llc can conduct business in any other state lije u can have. Say u live in new york u can have a florida llc and your llc can register vehicles in south dakota because south dakota allows non residential registration. Theres no paper work that youre required to file other than registering the llc and meeting the requirements to register an llc in the state u make the llc in the requirements were to pay a 1 time fee to register the llc and your llc must have an asset which is the atv to make it valid i checked everything b4 i did this as i was super skeptical as well. Let the irs come theres 0 profit made so nothing to file for taxes unless u make over i think 500 bux in which case you would just answer that in ur taxes wen it asks if u made anything outside your state its an issue if u use ur llc to make money primarily in another state so if i used my llc to sell stuff here in pa regularly id have to get a pa llc thats the only time ud have an issue but if ure gonna run a business in pa have a pa llc for the profitable business seperate from ur llc thats for asset holding which an llc is valid as long as its being used for a lawful purpose we are using it to hold our atvs as an asset which is legal and we are using it to comply with the law for our atvs to be legal on the road which is not breaking the law. The sales tax on the atv are paid at the time of sale so nothing to report there either even wen u do this process if u cant prove sales tax you will be required to pay sales tax b4 u can register it to ur llc. No records are required for an llc thats purely for asset holding other than something stating that you are the sole owner of that llc. Trucking companies do this with their trucks all the time to register them in say indiana wen their hq is in arkansas. Because the indiana registration is cheaper. And yes it is a legal way to do it. Would u rather somebody do it illegally? And take off dangerously thru a neighbothood possibly injuring people or u? Like the recent events in philly where those illegally riding in the streets and u have no way to identify the owners of those atvs that are illegally and wrecklessly riding on the roads. Or do the proper thing and do it legally? Now most people who do this just wanna drive their atvs around on the road respectfully. If they dont u can give them a wreckless driving or destruction of property citation like u would a motorcycle rider. Honestly wats the issue with having 4 wheels on a motorcycle instead of 2 or 3 but some reason 4 is too much? It costs a lot to make it legal. Its not just paperwork you also have to put dot required items on it like dot tires and license plate lights and make sure it meets the requirements a motorcycle has to meet with the exception being the number of wheels. And had i been riding my motorcycle instead of my atv id probably be dead right now from the dumb deer that like to just run out in front of u here in pa. Hit a deer going about 50mph luckily the push bar took the brunt of it. The dynamic power steering absorbed the impact and allowed me to stay upright. And i didnt get thrown from it like i wouldve on a regular motorcycle and i sustained no injuries. Also i used it to help get cars unstuck last winter. Also its not very safe to ride a motorcycle in the winter time its safer to ride a street legal atv at least if u hit an ice patch u wont lose control and risk a slide out. I have a lot of respect for police officers and i thank you for your many years of service it takes some balls to stay a cop that long in this day and age u never know what stop might be ur last and just all the other mental and family challenges officers have to face some people dont know the struggles. I was in the marines so i have an idea but i wasnt in too long but it still affected me and other veterans i know.

But not for nothing people do the same thing with the Can-Am spiders and just regular pedal bicycles! And i dont drive it wrecklessly wen police pull me over they are kinda like wat the heck and dont know wat to do bout it. Moat of them quote the law atv bot legal on the roadway but i point out my motorcycle reg. Kinda the difference between a dual sport motorcycke and a dirt bike. WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. What is with you small plate people? "Oh its an out of state plate. Oh its an LLC". Getting your ATV registered out of state, whether its to you or a business, does not make it safe or meet safety standards. Would it qualify for a PA Safety Inspection Sticker for a car since it has 4 wheels? No. But since you got your plate, that makes it ok. Listen, states receive federal highway funds in exchange for meeting fed safety standards. Part of those rules is to not issue large unrestricted plates for vehicle that are not DOT compliant. States have the option to authorize non-compliant 4 wheeled vehicles on their own roads but only with small plates. Those plates are valid in every state but are only valid for on road use in other states with like-legislation as non-compliant vehicles do not qualify for interstate reciprocity, only state reciprocity. Meaning, a SD plated ATV/UTV could be used in TN if that vehicle also met their minimum standards. There is a reason federal regulations exists so that you cannot just drop by your local Polaris dealer or jump on craigslist, buy an ATV, throw an out of state plate on it, and then self appoint it now as a quadracycle or motorcycle in a state with no law classifying such vehicle. The vehicle does not meet federal safety standards. This vehicle does not even meet 49 CFR 571.500 standards. It also does not meet PA vehicle standards. But since you got a small plate, that makes it ok? Since most law enforcement are not trained on what I just stated and since they see a valid registration and let you go, that makes it ok? None of this is my opinion and everything I mentioned can be google searched. Please do not suggest this to people do this in states without road use legislation for non-compliant vehicles. If you want your ATV on the road in PA, convert it to safety standards and get it inspected and approved like everyone else. And please do not ask me how to do that. PA has a procedure to do it. By the way, Dirt Legal has several investigations open by the FL HSMV from their antics on title washing and changing body types that do not match the vehicle. You can call the FL HSMV investigative division to also verify that.

Idk about any legal action open against dirt legal. But i know they use different states have different regulations. And yes my atv atv does meet and exceed all pa inspection and dot standards. Has all mandatory dot equipment pa requires on a motorcycle plus i added turn signals, and a windshiled which by law and inspection standards are not required to be installed. The only part that makes it illegal is the pa definition because it has 4 wheels instead of the max of 3 for a trike. And the LLC makes you exempt from having to transfer back to pa. Thats really the only reason the LLC is needed. The reason why u register in south dakota is because south dakota legally allows you to define it as a motorcycle as long as you have installed all equipment required on a motorcycle and has a min of 250cc. Beacuse it has legally been defined as a motorcycle on the title and registration it works in every state its not a local law that allows it on the road like in west virginia, florida, etc. A definition is different than a local law allowing atvs on the road because local laws dont change ur definition from atv to motorcycle it is left as an atv by definition and usually is classified by the state as an ohv or off highway vehicle like in california but ohv doesnt make it a motorcycle ohv means ohv. Motorcycle means it abides by the rules and laws of a motorcycle some states dont require u to even have a motorcycle license to operate a motorcycle with more than 2 wheels. However technically youre not supposed to ride it on certain highways in south dakota which is specific highways specified in the south dakota law.. But all other states u can because in other states it has the same privledges as a motorcycle because other states dont have this type of definition. Which is also where your LLC comes in handy because they usually have to honor out of state definitions of vehicles registered to a business. But i called florida highway patrol to verify it was legal to ride on the road there wen i went down to the ocala national forrest to ride. They checked it out and asked about the dot items and yup had all dot items and they said well if its got dot items and a plate on it we have no issues with it. The only people that gave me issues was the park rangers wouodnt allow me to enter day use areas with it because they get to make their own rules on privately owned lands. I even offered to have the officers come down and explain to them how it was legal and the one ranger really made a fuss about it. Cuz they were like well we dont want atvs in here doing burn outs and donuts and tearing up stuff im like well if i do that you give me a wreckless driving charge and charge me with destruction of private property, and damaging wildlife, etc the same way you would wen u let a dual sport motorcycle in here and they decide to kick up some dirt, sand, and mud. All hefty charges and potential loss of license offenses.
