Why are so many Sox Lantern being replaced by LED’s White Street lighting is bad for astronomy We can filter the light emitted from Sox Lamps with our special lenses due to the monochromatic light but not these new white light I have made a video about this on my You Tube channel if you care to look
@peterjones65072 жыл бұрын
I will check out your video. It's complete insanity and we should do something about it.
@LeviJamesRE Жыл бұрын
Can't have it both ways can't whinge that older lights have overspill and light up skies then whinge when newer lights direct light where intended and leave the sky "too dark"

Do those to for cutouts have a BS number for the double pole isolation? Also where are the jack pads for the MEWP whilst it was on the grass? Also banksman whilst reversing!

You could remove the fuse carrier to the head then replace it. All off course elligal as you need to be trained and certified to remove supply by removal of the service cut out as this is direct of the mains supply

We have a street lamp post that the council in Malvern deny ownership of . Its at the bottom of spencers walk that is said to be a private pathway now. . The lamp is always on. Can i switch it off at th base of the post by opening the steel plate access area.
@simonpcroot5 жыл бұрын
DIOMTV well someone is paying for the energy it will have a direct conection to the mains Just open the door pull the fuse out reomove the fuse with s screwdriver and put the fuse holder back ( it will be a bs88 barrel fuse i think)

Does anybody no how much it is to move a lamppost because I’ve got a old one blocking my drive in my new house,,it’s a old concrete one,,in England
@simonpcroot3 жыл бұрын
it depends on weather its got a electrical supply in it if it has that is permanently live with no way of removeing it as it belongs to the local electricity network provider it costs a lot to get a disconection of service approx 700£ then you need the local authority to remove the column if its no longer needed. about 150 £ but if its needed ie its still in use we would charge you about the cost of a new column instalation going in plus what you call a transfer of electrical service from old to new column by the electrical supply compony £750 in short about 1.5 k

@@simonpcroot hi pal,,yea I’ve had contact from the council finally and yes you was right,,£1539 to move it from blocking my drive,,do they dig all my front up to move it

SOX LPS is STILL teh best street lights, no glare in rain and fog, white with too much blue like LED stinks
@ijulesy6 жыл бұрын
true!
@cengeb3 жыл бұрын
@0972q8 The horrible glaring too much BLUE high color temp, are teh worst thing for roads, glare and more glare, and pure yellow doesn't annoy ya, it doesn't glare, my entire house is illuminated with all LPs 5 18W mini Sox by Philips, and 55W LPS for teh entire yard area, used to be Philips wall pack for the U.s. factory, now a Hubbell 55W Scottsdale model, now no longer made, even that is LED by Hubbell. I finally replaced the old Philips as the polycarbonate lens after 35+ years on every night began to yellow, and dull. The hubbell has been in now for 5+ years, is already showing yellowing of the lens, the Philips was a better lens, I have a few spare fixtures, cus I knew they would stop making them. Inside is all Philips components (former Philips lighting) Advance ballast, lamps, sockets, just the outside is Hubbell made
@cengeb3 жыл бұрын
And i knew eventually SOX lamps would end production, i managed to stock up, before they stopped, cus now the remaining stock prices are absurd, I have plenty of 18W and 55W and 35W lamps dozens actaully, good till I am 123 years old, should be good to go. mostly Philips lamps, I've had the best luck over the years with Philips,Philips had several stages of improved lamp designs, sox sox pro long life etc...subtle changes in the getter, etc. OSRAM are variable, and the GE relabeled THORN are also iffy. then in the final years the OSRAMS where Philips factory being made in OSRAM design, using the old OSRAM equipment, non dimpled inner arc tube style. Even a few GEC lamps, Philips had a much better track record over the decades, from the original Belgium site, to the UK hamilton facility for the last 20 years or so

Nice video of vandals at work. Goodbye to a friendly night time environment and the glory of the night sky. I wish someone would post a video explaining how to disable them. Check out the recent Daily Mail article explaining that these 'eco-friendly' lights kill 50% of local insects.
