Great great interview as always! Dotan Saguy is so humble and warmhearted person and that's why I love about photography and also the man behind the lens

I have been shooting for a long time but never really focused on street photography as such but it will be from now on. I have just got the gear I need, completely different form what I have used for years and I am soaking up every video that Dotan has done. It’s like starting all over in some ways but I am going to enjoy the challenge. Thanks Dotan!

A video with great insight. I would add one more vital element of style, the one that completes the photographer’s visual DNA. Each person sees the world in a unique way, a unique reaction to experience. My processing attempts to bring the image back to my perception, what I saw, what I felt. Whether the result is appealing to others is secondary. The essential nature is authenticity and honesty to oneself.

Thanks for the clarification about "editing" vs. "processing." The misuse of these terms can be inconvenient.

Defining style helps to be able to distinguish the difference between street photography and street portraits. Shooting portraits on the streets does not make one a street photographer.

If I define my style... wouldn’t I be limiting myself? If my style is no style, I feel I would have much more to explore... My style can be wow the viewer

There's truth here. It's one choice, one direction. And it's certainly legitimate. That said, an identifiable style has value because it's…well…identifiable.

Style is not really something YOU define. As I laid it out in the presentation it’s something that emerges on its own once you become more aware of what you like to do and what you’re best at.

I am very curious about this scientific method of choosing your pictures...

Hi Tim. Not sure I would call is scientific but it’s definitely more consistent as a method than anything else I know.

You don't have to stand in front of interesting stuff to make interesting photography. In fact I think like this you will tend to be one dimensionally. Finding something to say about uninteresting stuff and putting it into photography will enhance your style more than standing in front if interesting stuff.
