So many experts on turbo lag here do people not realize normally turbocharged cars already have multiple feet of piping plus all the air capacity inside the intercooler which you might be able to even bypass an intercooler in this case cause of how far the air travels which would cause less lag... cool set up!

0 turbo response. You press the gas, gasses need to build up to the turbo, spin it, turbo needs to pressure up the ENTIRE way to & through the intercooler and then go into the engine. Oh and 1 puddle and your turbo DROWNS
@justinsorci59983 жыл бұрын
A rear mounted turbo works fine if the proper size turbo is chosen. Also, the rear location allows the turbo to run cooler, so no intercooler is required. If you need instant boost for racing purposes, you can add a port to the turbo, and add compressed air to “pre-spool” the turbo, so you’ll have instant boost when the light turns green.

@sirkrow71183 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing you r talking about the turbo setup being so far away? It is quite a bit away but this is a pretty typical setup for Zs cuz engine bay room is quite limited. Having it that far back will cause a bit more lag but for how much boost it is getting (I’m assuming stock block which can handle up to 8 pounds) it’s not too crazy to push 6-8 psi back up to the throttle bodies. I’m gonna go out on a limb tho and guess he has some other mods done to the car tho since he’s aiming for 450 hp cuz stock hr block is good (to what I’ve read) to about 400. That being said this is all info based off what I’ve read from forums/build guides/ KZfaq videos.

Im just curious. Why locate the turbo at the rear of the car? Having the air intake so close to the ground, plus the length of the intercooler piping would seem to have disadvantages compared to a forward mounted setup. Not criticizing the build just interested why this setup was selected.

With this single turbine, the capacity is not enough, so I think it will run out. With a VQ engine, the boost pressure shouldn't break at all even if you apply 1.6kg. If it is the same turbine, I think x2turbo is just right. Even if the compressor is a little bigger, the torque is thick, so it can rotate normally from below.😀
