Welcome to a fantastic MTB adventure in an awesome Scottish MTB destination - The Tweed Valley.
In this video we tie two amazing MTB locations, Gypsy Glen and Cademuir, in a brilliant ebike adventure.
In this video I am joined by McTrail rider. We both had an awesome day riding in some seriously challenging conditions.
I hope you enjoy the video. Here are some chapters to help you navigate the video:
0:00 Intro
0:21 One of my favourite MTB destinations...
1:44 This climb is a beast!
3:30 Making the summit of Birk's Cairn hill
4:29 Birk's Cairn descent onto Gypsy Glen
7:54 Gypsy Glen descent
13:52 Kermit trail at Cademuir
16:53 This trail is sketchy!
19:02 This trail nearly took me out!
19:56 This drop is gnarly!
22:34 Jerry Can trail Cademuir
24:01 Penfold trail Cademuir
25:26 Outro
If you are new to my videos then expect to see high quality riding vlogs shot in the same style as McTrail Rider and BKXC. I try to travel to the best MTB locations in Scotland finding you the best mountain biking trails to ride, enjoy and explore.
The video was shot on a GoPro Hero 10 mounted on the chin of an Endura MT500 helmet using a R3Pro mount.
I am sponsored by Bird Cycleworks. They make incredible bikes at really competitive prices. Check out their range of bikes and more at their website: www.bird.bike/

We were just up there on an Edinburgh Mountain Bikers FB Group ride on Saturday and it was great - I'm on ebike but not everyone was, so props to those that climbed it! It's was super sloppy and wet but great fun - I think it's an excellent place to learn some Golfie style trails - but man there is also some crazy stuff in there! Will definitely be back in the drier weather - really cool seeing you both ride it as recently as we did.

@@streetpigeonmtb have you transitioned between the web and regular bikes yet? How does it feel going back to back?
@streetpigeonmtb
@streetpigeonmtb 3 ай бұрын
@MindfulTrailBiker So I'm pretty strict at alternating between the two. I find that it reminds me that climbing on a proper bike is really difficult, but it also hammers home how fun they are descending. My feeling would be that you would lose some of your fitness very quickly if you just went eeb, and then returning to the normal bike wouldn't be fun. I'm not saying you can't get as fit on an eeb. I think it would be possible, however the commitment required would be huge. The reality is that eebs are great at improving your zone 2 and base fitness, also descending endurance. However, you have to go looking for high heart rates in my opinion where they happen quite organically on the real bike. Does that make sense?
@MindfulTrailBiker
@MindfulTrailBiker 3 ай бұрын
@@streetpigeonmtb makes perfect sense! The disciplined approach to riding both at all times sounds like the formula. I do most of my zone 2 training running and then rely on the usual mountain bike rides to provide the multi-zone hits with the needed zone 5 for peak fitness. Didn’t really think about the increase in descending endurance which off course makes complete sense but I hadn’t thought about it in that way. Climbing assist but your doubling your descend time and suffering that fatigue instead. Great stuff!
@streetpigeonmtb
@streetpigeonmtb 3 ай бұрын
@MindfulTrailBiker yeah! I hadn't thought about it either but I'm noticing big improvements on the descents. Just not getting at all fatigued like I used to 👌
