These sessions sure bring back memories. I was 11 yo when this was filmed, by then I had been skating for about 4 years, rippin’ the ramp doing bunch of tricks (e.g., judos, antis, airwalks, rockets, methods, and so on). I’m 47 now and still shred once in a while with my son. Great times! Thanks for sharing! 👊🏻✌🏻

For those who no longer live in Boise, in July 2003 the 8th Street Cinemas were torn down and replaced with a Regal Theater. The houses you see here are gone too, replaced by a PF Changs and other businesses. The Warehouse building is intact; it was declared a landmark so the developers built around it.

There are posters for "Legal Eagles" and "Karate Kid 2" hanging up at 8th st Cinemas - this is the summer of 1986

This is Skateboarding history straight from the old days. I'm totally remembering the 80s vibe watching this. Even tho I was about about 6 years old at the time I was already skating for 2 years and as much as I could. I still remember the 80s skate scene like it was just a few years ago. Time sure flies by pretty fast. I'm 43 now and still Skateboarding as much as I can. Hopefully in another 36 years from now I can say that same, if I'm still blessed to be walking among the Earth.

So crazy how much skating has progressed as a whole. I was born just a few years after this and grew up skating in the early 90s. My mom wouldn’t let me skate because she thought it was too dangerous but my dad snuck me a board for my bday and I never stopped.

If I could turn back the clock. I think 86 was best year of my life. I was living in california and skating was booming.

Not from Idaho. Still find it interesting. I started skating a year after this and it’s just cool to see what everyone else was doing. Pretty cool we all kinda did the same thing without the internet. Traveling as a kid, always saw kids in each region dressed and talked a little different but skaters were the same everywhere. Whether I was in Atlanta seeing my moms family or in the northeast for my dads the skaters all had a look and a vibe that was universal. Now everyone in the country has the internet so everyone follows the same trends. We all did that with very little media coverage. Dope look into the past.

Oh my fukin god I remember that car! I remember a couple Saturdays you parked it directly in front of the RecEx and spent hours doing this stuff. We were all inside, going "fukin kids". Thanks for the memory! This is LIam BTW.

this is pure skateboarding, even if the tricks are so primitives. Skateboarding doesn't need to be tech and stuff, just rolling on the roof of a car is rock n roll, it's just nowadays we are use to kickflip and handrails but in my opinion this is way cooler because it's just simple fun and having a crowd to inspire young kids and piss off olk folks is the icing on the cake.

Did yous put anything, like duct tape, on the car's windshields to keep it from breaking? In about '88 we had a demo/contest in Boulder CO with a car. Some guy launched up to the car's front end and somehow punched his arm through the windshield causing a severe gash with lots of blood. They shut the demo down for about 5 minutes to roll him outta there and put duct tape over the hole and on the windshields, then started it back up and finished it, lol!

It looked a bit rough for sure. But fun. Those were the days for sure.

This is the year I got my first skateboard a blockhead Sam Cunningham mini, I was 10 and lived in Paradise California, What a cool time...Kids were cooler back then today their so easily offended…
