I know this video was produced awhile ago so this may no longer be necessary feedback but for anyone watching this for the first time it would be. A point I noticed when I was using the same glue as you. The Tandy cement is water soluble, when you use water in edge burnishing it dissolves the glue at the very edge and delaminates/squeezes out. I would really recommend using a non water based glue like barge or any other brand doesn't really matter. At 9:00 you can see delamination occurring near the mouth of the pocket and you can see squeeze out near the corner after you finished the edges. This can be exacerbated after/during stitching because you squeeze the dissolving glue very tight and force it to the edges. Also, when ending your stich lines, just cut the ends short to a few mm and melt them down, tying a knot and trying to melt a big glob of thread down is unsightly especially on something that will cost as much as a shell wallet.

You burnish with saddle soap? I’ve never seen that before, cool! Also, what weight do you use for your wallets? 2-3 oz? And do you mind sharing the steps for the dremmel sanding? I’m interested what Frits you use. Thanks!!

Hey, yes i use saddle soap with water for burnishing, it makes edge more slippery when you swiping it with wood burnisher. Shell Cordovan thickness varies, even in the same piece its different edge to edge, in particular video here is about 4-4.5oz. Now with dremel im using i believe 320 grit sandpaper drum its for rough sanding only after i go by hand 1000-1500 grit.

Hi - love your work. I purchased the template and I’m curious - what are the measurements on the inside stitch line to mark and punch so the money clip is secure and fits? I see you have a template mold to mark the lines, but can’t tell how far away from pocket you are marking. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks for all the great content!

Fallus LaThug im using soap with some water, it work best for me to burnish edges. After all im adding bees wax and melting it with high speed rotating burnisher

That is just trimming off the "mushroomed" edges of the leather. As you cut or sand the edges, they flare out and the little trimmer allows hi to just take off the extra that sticks out, giving him a nicely rounded over edge for finishing. Hope that makes sense.
