Convenience stores in Japan are great for tasty cheap food, and two of the more popular stores are 7-Eleven and Lawson. Today I try a bunch of food from each to see if they carry better products than the other.

It's actually a substantially normal cultural thing to do in Japan, to consume the item where you got it it's actually normal. its extremely rude to eat things on the move because that usually leads to littering and in most major and small communities it is strongly frowned upon to litter.

I had 7-11 for breakfast every morning when I visited Tokyo. I was so in love with that and Lawsons. I was like hmm... I traveled 40 hrs by plane just to hang out at a 7-11? It was fun hanging out back people watching in the morning around the corner from the BnB. The U.S. 7-11 is so far removed. It's not even close to the same. You can literally find anything at these shops.

Hi I'm in Japan right now and I got a lot of the items that he mentioned, here is my personal review: Matcha cookie: Average nothing special, just a regular cookie. 7-11 Michelin star instant noodles: Great instant noodles a must try, very flavorful, even better than some restaurants. Lawson pudding: Omg you have to try this! The flavor and taste is so unique and smooth! With a distinct milky taste. 10/10 would definitely Recommend. Got one almost everyday that I was in Japan! Egg sandwich: Something that you cannot get in America, the taste is so different and good. Japan bread is very soft and fluffy. The egg is creamy and dreamy. Got one for breakfast daily! Peach drink: Very different from the fruit yogurt drinks in America. Not as sweet and more fruit flavor, some even have fruit chunks. Tried more drinks from the same line, very good. Recommend. Fruit ice ball thing that you put in carbonated water: Would recommend something else to drink, but if you want to try something new and different give it a try. Not bad but would rather just buy some soda. Thank you for uploading this video it was very helpful and informative on my trip to Japan! 😊

I don't think it's that embarrassing as you all say it is, for sure when one sees a person talking in front of a camera it just means they are filming themselves or that they are an online star. Unless you are just talking to yourself without any technology present, that, you're nuts. Y'all are pretty dense to make that remark.

One thing that struck me about traveling to Japan is that the commerce experience is like visiting a bizarro America. Initially, it feels like there’s endless variety and things to try. Visiting your first few vending machines, convenience stores, and walls of gachapon machines gives the impression that there’s so much to see it’s kind of maddening. But by the end of your trip, you realize that all vending machines and shops have the same stuff. Realizing this about the drink vending machines was especially a shock, because when we first encountered one I expected to see other ones with unique choices. One beverage company seems to have a monopoly though, so even though there’s a machine every 20 yards, they’re all identical. And gachapons are released in waves- after the novelty wears off, you’ve seen most of it save for a few surprises or region-specific ones. It’s actually nice for a visitor though, because you can try most of the snacks/convenience store meals over the course of a two week trip without feeling like you missed anything. What really surprised me though, is that for all the hype I’d heard about Lawson vs. Family Mart vs. 7-11, the selections were surprisingly similar. I’m sure that at one point there was a good reason to be loyal to one over the other, but it seemed like by now they’ve all ripped each other off for competition until they were all fundamentally the same stores. I guess my main takeaway was that these shops are good for grabbing a quick breakfast or (quiet, discreet) snacks for the bullet train, but aren’t necessary to fuss too much over. The real fun and discovery came from trying different restaurants and local places. Typing that out it seems so obvious, it really applies to any country you might visit. But it was something I had to learn firsthand.
