I worked in a restaurant for a Cantonese couple. Their favorite dessert I made for them was a plum wine, cherry reduction wrapped in wontons, fried, then dusted with powdered sugar. Not very sweet, and a bit tart.

Yes but the problem is, if you don't put a ton of sugar in sweet things, you can't hide the fact that it has no good taste of its own. That's why all the cheap candy is so sweet.

@@j.d.4697 most candy is majority sugar in itself, if considering gummies, candies, boiled/hard sweets etc etc. cakes and desserts etc can absolutely be made with less sugar, sugar is majorly used because of how cheap it is and the volume its processed at is easier to acquire in bulk amounts for companies. i find the technique in which you cook determines the quality of overall product, more so than the 'quality' of the products being used themselves. well not for everything but a lot.

@@Dockhead I think most people who eat a lot of these cheap readymade pastries have desensitized their tastebuds, so they don't get overwhelmed by the excessive amounts of sugar. And so companies kept up by making things as sweet as possible. People who don't eat sweets regularly aren't their regular customers anyway, so they don't care if we don't like them.

I love Vietnamese food. It’s so fresh, tasty, a bit of spice and crunchy texture. The banh mi is fabulous (gotta find a good place though). That first restaurant knew they were onto a good thing with Mikey in the house.

Even if you know him... I think watching it YT can desensitize me to what it would be like to watch a man of that size down 6 McDonald’s sandwiches and sides and drinks. And those little fast food visits are on the smaller side of the meals he orders sometimes!
