Here ia a string pulling art for beginners demonstration of how I like to do string pulls.
I make painting trays out of wrapping paper tubes that I cut in half and line with a strip of freezer paper. I like to hot glue a piece of foam core to the bottom to keep the tray from rolling around.
I lay pieces of cotton twine in the tray and pour different colors over the string. I use a palette knife to make sure all the strings is coated with paint.
I lay the strings on the canvas and pull them one by one. This allows me to create an interesting composition and a layered effect.
This technique takes a bit of practice and finesse. The strings sometimes have a mind of their own. Don't get frustrated if your first paintings don't turn out how you intended, mine sure didn't.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
