I'm with you Bill. Once geared up with waders, belt, bag, crampons, jacket and rod ready to hit the surf it changes you. The determination is possessing. Theres no floral pattern neck gaiters n soft teal shirts in this gig. Its battle. Cold, wet, tired, hungry....Good. Youre doing it right, keep casting. Real men are in the surf.

I'm a west coast stripped bass fisherwoman. I'm 67 years old , fished since I was a kid . Firefighter for 13 years and both wrist are now shot to hell. So I get to the beach , put my Calissa Nuclear Pink lure on my rod , strap a wrist splint on each arm and start hurling my lure out to sea . I'm in heaven ! Get water down my chest wadders...don't care ..gotta catch that stripper . Nothing else matters !

Nice, rock on! Try CBD lotion (the strong stuff) on your wrists, works wonders. Tight lines.

Montauk Striper fishing is the real deal. The vids I've seen of people pulling fish from there... serious monster stripers. Great stuff!

Fishing Montauk in a 50 knot NE blow, and 50 degrees, is an experience, for lack of a better word. Word's can't describe the exhaustion you feel after fishing all night in those conditions. My body still hurts 30 years later! I was always smart enough to avoid the point when it was really snotty, there is no fish worth being killed over. The ride, and the crowds are just too taxing now, I've found other easier places to fish.

No matter the wind at your back or the nor'easter in your face. No matter the sun of the morning or the cold moon of the night. No matter calm water or bitch angry sea. No matter an illusive lone sideliner or the absolute chaos of the blitz. Why not the comfortable bed or the warm cottage? Why do I leave for the midnight tides? The hunt goes on and on and on and I know, that I am alive!

Such overfishing of stripers now its sad. Im lucky in Quebec that the lake I fish at has responsible anglers who almost 100% catch and release.

Great video. I love to surf fish for stripers too but this one day I was in my kayak after a 40 plus inch striper when I hooked a great white shark. Part of my video was recently used on the Discovery Channel episode called The Great White North. Toss me a subscription if you like, I only need a couple more to get 1000 :) Cheers

It is an addiction sometimes. And sometimes it destroys lives/ takes lives. I think there are many types of anglers, it’s a interesting sport, so much to it.
