Because knitting in the round is essentially a spiral of stitches, changing colors for stripes creates a "jog" or a vertical column of staggered lines. Lots of people accept this as the natural outcome of hand knitting, but if it bothers you, there's a way around it! Check it out in this tutorial!

Great question, Lori! This technique is best used when your stripes have more than one row per color, as there is a slipping of the lower knit stitch to cover the spiral you're knitting. While we don't have a tutorial for that specific method, a search for Jogless Stripes One Color Rows, might lead to some fun experiments!

Does this technic works the same when there is only one row of each colour?

I'm afraid that this technique is not suited to one-round stripes, since it relies on a slipped stitch at the beginning of one of the rounds. While we don't have a tutorial for that yet, I'd recommend giving it a search, since I bet other creators have their own takes on this technique!

Every time I try this technique, I get a hole where I slip the yarn. How can I avoid that?

Let's see if we can help, Lexi! When you've finished the first color round, are you utilizing the "twist" method shown at minute 1:51 in the video? That may be causing a hole when you slip the yarn. Let us know if that's the issue or if it's another issue entirely. We're here to help!

@@leximassey7931 Hmmm without seeing it it's tricky to diagnose. Are you getting the gauge you need for your pattern? And has blocking the final piece resolved the issue of the pucker? (Maybe blocking a swatch would help?) Just brainstorming - Let's see if we can crack this issue open!
