When we hit our first goal of $500/mo I will do 1 weekly live stream for 30 minutes to cover a business topic in depth, and answer your questions live!
I will be stripping and waxing vct floors. These floors have been damaged by a forklift and I plan to get rid of as much of the damage as possible by doing a strip and wax. A strip and wax needs to be done about once per year on most vct flooring, but we need to do the complete strip and wax every 4 months for this customer to protect the floors from further wear. Its always a challenge to know which floor pad to use, and typical when you strip a floor you want to use the black pad. But with floors in this condition, I decided to take it up a notch and use the purple stripping pad. On a final note, you really need to know how to strip and wax before you attempt to do this for a customer. I've been waxing floors for several years and still even today run into problems every once in a while. So dont run out and start trying to strip and wax for customers, there is a lot to it and this video doesnt show everything that you need to know.

If you're in this facility every 3 months try a 3m high pro pad. Do a top scrub and recoat 2 coats. It'll pull the yellow right out of the wax and you'll end up with better coverage. Strip ever year.
@FreelanceJanitor
@FreelanceJanitor 6 жыл бұрын
I agree, that is a common procedure. The reason I strip the main room every time is because the forklift causes too much damage to the existing wax. But in the hallway, restroom, and break room I usually just do a scrub and recoat as you suggest. Thanks for the comment!

luke A it’s all good man, I’m here to help you out. Stripping and waxing floors is actually pretty dang complicated. I mean, the process is pretty easy, but it gets tricky when you work with different floor types and every floor has its own challenges, so you really need quite a bit of experience before you find customers for that service because you can really screw up a floor. And the floor is such a big surface that any mistakes will be very noticeable. You could offer it as a sole service though, I think there is plenty of work out there to do very well for yourself. When you work in the kitchens, pay attention to the tools you use and the chemicals. Just get really good at it and that is an excellent service to start with!

I never do. I have a friend who likes to do it, but it’s overkill honestly. You want to burnish weekly or daily to maintain the shine. Then scrub and recoat monthly. Most customers don’t want to invest so much into floor care and don’t follow this plan.
