Күн бұрын

This Drawer Cabinet is made Super Strong with Concealed Aluminum Frame to hold a HUGE Ratrig V-Core3 3D Printer on top. The Aluminum Frame is Completely Concealed with a First-In-The-World Paneling Method, Combining Aesthetic with Strength. In 11 steps, I will show you how it is done.
Built to handle the vibrations of a demanding 3D Printer, and to remove the industrial aluminum extrusion look for the sake of domestic use, and also to provide drawer space for sufficient storage, this may look like an ordinary cabinet, dresser or drawer case, but it is definitely not. This is no ordinary furniture. This structure is built for accepting a demanding payload. These are what aluminum profiles can offer.
In this video, multiple 'Art-Of-Joinery' methods to handle aluminum extrusion will be explained, and the 'First-In-The-World' method to apply paneling onto aluminum extrusion will be showcased. Multiple 3D printed accessories to help with the build will be demonstrated.
This is probably the most innovative way to DIY aluminum extrusion profiles, and you may already download the files from the website to build one for yourself! You may custom-adjust the dimensions of the 3D Modelled file to suit your own needs. Make sure to share your build with us on our Instagram channel!

I appreciate your custom tools and technique. Surprised with all the precision & extra strength in the frame, you didn't use screws in the drawer box construction! The brad nails are great to hold until glue dries & kept waiting to see you add screws for the mechanical strength. Amazed you didn't do that, especially for the bottoms, which rely only on a bit of glue (not enough rabbitted) & brads 😮. Amazing construction of the frame & exterior, and do love that work bench!

Hi, I am having to drill wholes to add quick connectors, would you know what would be a good drill to use. I know I need to go a bit smaller before I go to 11mm per haps start with 8mm. But would any HSS drill do, as I am having trouble drilling the holes, as my profile core is a bit thicker than the profiles you are using. Or would I need to start off even smaller like a 4mm drill? Would cutting fluid help?
@TheAluminumCarpenter
@TheAluminumCarpenter 10 ай бұрын
The drill bits you seen in my videos are meant for aluminum. The key thing to take note is, the pointed tip of the bit must be sharp. If you are using old bits, its fine, but u need to sharpen and renew the tip of it. If not, just use new bits. It will be a huge difference. Tapping fluid may help only a tiny bit. You dont really need to go too high a speed. If your bit is sharp, it will go through within 10 seconds.

The strength of this cabinet does seem to be crazy high and the result is quite elegant (I'm a fan of simplicity). I have two questions/comments. First, those corner brackets add up $$$ and I've found the small (single bolt) brackets can be replaced with small pieces of aluminum extrusion cut and drilled to accept the bolts with little/no loss of frame strength. The cost of DIY corner brackets is pennies per bracket and some of your time. Second, The drawer bottom attachment (glue and brads holding butt joints) seems like a potential weak spot. Drawers get banged, racked, twisted, all the time. Drawer bottoms get things dropped into them, liquid spills and humidity do their dirty work, lots of insults over time. A rabbet on the bottom of the edges and some small l-brackets or an extrusion would add a lot of strength right where your heavy items land.
@TheAluminumCarpenter
@TheAluminumCarpenter 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. 1st, i do have the luxury of bulk orders due to customer orders and i am using just the leftovers which is extremely cost effective. 2nd, the drawers were meant to house 3d printing accessories and because of that, i need not invest in stronger drawers and till today, the drawers seemed to be an overkill. Nevertheless, i took in your words and will take note in the future. Enjoy watching! I have a backlog of content to edit. Stay tuned!

lets say (1) i want something, but i cannot find someone who knows how to make such, (2) lets say we found someone who can build it for me, but at what cost? customized build is not cheap. (3) i strongly believe my talents can be found here, amongst creative and engineer, why not use it (4) i have been doing DIY my whole life (5) i always wanted to make videos for ppl to learn, thats some reasons off the top of my head.
