Thanks, Struth! I fell in love with your Blood Surge build BEFORE the 1.1 patch and feel like I really lucked out as the patch had such little effect on it and even buffed it a bit. I may use this guide for early levels and then switch to blood lance later on as I haven't tried that yet. Your guides are great and I appreciate your level of detail, especially in your end game builds. PS: It helps that your voice is so damned pleasant!

Thanks for this amazing build - I ended up making some tweaks as soon as I realised how crazy powerful the decrepify and auto-corpse hearts were but this is such a cool way to level. The iron maiden for essence regen until I got my essence via auto chewing up corpses going was super good

I'm running Necro for the first time this season and have been using a Bone Spear build but this one looks fun (and seems like it has better survivability) so I may switch. I noticed on the build calculator it only lists one aspect (the one you mentioned is pretty essential). Is there a way for you to put some of the better ones to look for in the notes of the build? Also, you mentioned sacrificing skeletons when you get Rathma's Vigor. Does that include sacrificing the mages, too?

With the malignant hearts do you feel that running the buff for corpse abilities to auto proc is worth? Corpse tendril it appears will also proc in half the cooldown if using this malignant heart as I have found. This could lead to extremely high blood orb generation with corpse tendrils casting automatically, pulling enemies in, and generating orbs more frequently due to the reduced cooldown and still being able to manually cast. Additionally corpse explosion would also auto cast making it easier to maintain miasma pools. Also is corpse explosion necessary or could it be swapped out for other options? In your original build you are also using decrepify but with the malignant heart you can get decrepify essentially for free. This would allow you to run for instance iron maiden instead.

I'm looking forward to see the combo of Blood Lance with the new unique that spawns Bone Storms. This is pure guesswork here since the synergy hasn't been confirmed but combining the aspect that increases Bone Storm duration by consuming corpses with the aspect that drops blood orbs on consumed corpse would be a great way to trigger the new aspect for Blood Lance where it fires off an additional lance when hitting a blood orb. With Hewed Flesh this should be a fairly self sustaining engine. If this synergy works and with enough lucky hit chance you can spawn a lot of orbs, bone storms and extra lances which will be great for higher tiers of nightmare dungeons.

I think Echohack mentioned the number of bone storms you can generate is capped at 4. Also i believe the best roll for the corpse->drop blood orbs aspect is 30% plus you still need to generate enough resource to fire the lances and for them to hit (the blood orb generated ones miss a lot) so I see it kinda not being good, but still there might be a way for it to work I dunno.

@@MaikSpike I don't really see this as much of a combo. If it fired off lances just by picking up blood orbs, similarly to blood artisans cuirass.. I could see this being something. I think the most obvious synergy is corpse tendrils/blood lance.. since you use overpower and don't need vulnerability, you can take the blood orb version. You don't need bone storm if you get the new malignant heart that auto casts decrepify auras around you. Since your build doesn't really use crit either. I think the bone storm build will be best used with darkness skills.

I have a build like this, maybe because I’m new to Diablo 4 but I find thorns to be nice :) sometimes I find myself in the middle of a stack.

Have you considered using reapers+frost mages in place of bone prison? Reapers offer significant fortify generation (via corpse generation and necrotic carapace), and mages also give a consistent flow of essence, not to mention the additional damage and effects (which is now considerably buffed). I’ll be running this along with blood lance tomorrow - can’t wait.

This is what I'm doing, so far it's working great with full fortify almost always. Going to look for a deathspeakers pendant eventually and also build some amount of thorns. I like the idea of being right in there with the minion horde wrecking enemies.

the vicious auto-corpse heart with grim harvest was enough essence generation for me to leave bone prison out of the build

Okay.. so I'm confused. The build calls for 7 skills and there is only 6 slots. Lance, mist, prison, maiden, tendrils, surge and hemmorage. What am I missing here?

wondering if Blood lance build is better against single target than blood surge, without lacking too much of the massive AOE of blood surge

Blood lance seems to do triple the damage of blood surge, it really needs a base damage buff

Maybe a little.. but remember that blood surge hits everything on the screen. There's no setup.

@@brandonerwin7031 that's true but when it's not hitting overpower your barely making a dent, only issue I've found with blood surge is for single target bosses you should swap into blood lance as it melts
