There was that time...late 70s into early 80s...performers like Patrice Rushen, or Champaign, or Evelyn "Champagne" King, or The Whispers, or Midnight Star, or Teena Marie, or so many others...their sounds were so fresh and new, many of them like a bridge between R&B and New Wave, all very solid musicians. They EARNED their success and didn't have to rely on gimmicks. Play them for an audience today and people respond.

My Grandmother (who raised me since birth) passed when I was 11 & I remember I heard this song for the first time playing on the radio the very next morning after she died. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but I always remembered this song & I would ALWAYS think about her when I heard it. As I've gotten older & became an adult, I truly feel this song that I heard the morning after she passed was a message from her telling me that she loved me & for me not to forget her... I didn't forget u mommy ❤

Well hello everybody how are you doing you know it seems like it's been forever since I've been out here being able to speak a couple of words that I'm one of those individuals here like I told you before I wear so many hats but for this particular evening I want it to come out and say a couple of words on behalf assuming that was such an angel she was the songwriter the best noted for being a wonderful wonderful beautiful singer and she could hit notes on the left level of a six and I remember when I was living at home so long ago and I asked my mom and dad when I heard her sing and her voice was so beautiful high I said could she make a glass break and I just looked at me and I said well the only reason I'm asking that this is because I've never heard anybody think so high before well this woman that I'm speaking of ladies and gentlemen is many rippleton she was actually born mini Julia rippleton Rudolph which is the last name of her husband and he had two beautiful children a daughter and the son and unfortunately misfortune found out that she had breast cancer and unfortunately we lost her July 12th 1979 that was a very dark day for so many people because like I said she was a very beautiful woman and had that voice of an Angel I know there's a lot of you out there that are not aware of who she is and there are a lot of you out there that definitely know who she is and that's why I would like to take this time an opportunity on behalf of the KZfaq family to play if you are for songs in memory of her and her family I thank you so very much and I will get started thank you. Loving you by Miss Minnie rippleton, good afternoon wasn't something beautiful it was just awesome and her and Mariah Carey believe it or not they say that their ranges are basically the same this next song by Ms tripleton is nothing forever and I would love to play it for you thank you.memory lane next. 💕 love and it's glory beautiful simply beautiful there are two more songs that I'd like to share with you again depending on where you are And those two songs are memory Lane and the other would be loved and its Glory now we have so many songs from this beautiful thing and we will be playing them and we hope that you enjoy what you hear and for this evening I just compare very compelled to come out is here a little something with you because you're only here this morning there was a tear in my eye and you guys are no that I love you and I think very very candidly about what I feel and I feel so very good about the legacy that miserable them had and we lost her way too soon for the best thing you can do is for those of you that were too young to know her with them listen to the music and learn about other genres and for those of you that know thank you so very much and for the very last but I'd like to share with you all and that is love and its Glory and then we have DJ disco cat and again I thank you all for being so sweet about this and I'm going to go ahead and turn this back over to DJ and again have a wonderful wonderful evening day or night stay safe I love you guys and send those comments and to me okayK You just wante gave the opportunity to share a little bit of this with you until yo know but it is here for you to hear I thank you so very much for. I once knew a woman named Elizabeth. She was a wallflower at parties. She sat straight in chairs, no fooling. This song came on and she got up to dance. She twirled to the music and was flamboyant and slide across the floor. Her hair was flying all over. Elizabeth could spin around like a top.Everyone gasped at the sight of her amazing moves. She dance for about 7 minutes with out skipping a beat. She danced back to her chair. Everyone was stunned at her performance.

1) they do. You just don't hear about them because marketing/music production and consumption under capitalism. 2) there has to be a drum machine on this track like many songs of the 1980's did. 3) This is good music, but you have nostalgia filters on.

@@JSmusiqalthinka You might be right, partially, about the nostalgia factor. The point though is in the 1980s and 1990s you didn't have to go looking for excellent music and good musicians because they were in abundance, and we probably took it for granted at the time. Back then, the barriers to entry to the music industry were much higher so you had to have real talent to become a star or at least have longevity. It wasn't enough to be flashy and have a big following on social media (which didn't even exist then). 😀

We watched the ”UNSUNG” episode featuring Ms. Pat Rushen. My then 6-year-old daughter took a liking to her fashion, hair and voice. It was so refreshing to watch her embrace the 80’s in 2020! Stay safe during this pandemic everyone! Peace and blessings to all of you!

Prince was crushing hard on her back in the day. He wrote "I Feel For You" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover" about her💜

This brings me back to a sweet time in our history. (Yeah: They ALL say that!) Ms. Rushen: One of the most salient soundtracks of my adolescence. Thank you.

This song will forever be in my memory, high school and my early military days in the 1980, i was so young and in my 20s. It was a very emotional time, the 1980s was such a wonderful time for me.
