Are struts actually your friend? THE ANSWER MAY SURPRISE YOU but keep in mind this was a version ago, they pretty much got fixed since so yes they are fine now. This was the video that I had to put aside for the 1.12 update, but still managed to finish editing it before the end of the month! Woo! I genuinely am trying to not bunch videos towards the end of the month but it always ends up like this, ugh.

Being guilty of exploiting the lack of self-collision, I've some insight. Normally, parts don't collide with other parts they're connected to. A shortcut that lets the game run at over 3 FPS. This lets parts be inside of each other without causing a singularity. But when accessing the EVA building system, the game partially enables collisions in some situations. Specifically, when placing struts, the parts need to occupy the same plane of existence to be able to be connected to one another. So the game phases them fully into reality, which can make parts that are inside of other parts suddenly experience the pain of existence and violently disassemble in protest.

So my idea of a minmus base was to build the whole thing in the aircraft hangar then ship off the segments of it. Problem was the segments were on the top of it and my idea of connecting them with docking was to gently hover the segment over the wheeled moonbase then probe-drive the base of the structure underneath it so i can slowly land it onto the docking port... 3 times. For one of those build-a-base contracts.

Something i discovered accidentally when i damaged my ground station, if you have a landed vessel with extended solar panels, and you use a kerbal's EVA Jetpack to fly into them and break the panels, (On a low gravity body like the Mun) the Kerbal will levitate, and can walk around on nothing, you can use the jetpack to very slowly move up or down, and you can fix this by quick saving and loading. This might be patched though, i have not tested it yet. Hope you can do something with this!
