I personally use the Timefactor live, i like the aux switch that you can use with it, you can set it up to use up and down on the banks and tap and i like that you can edit the parameters with catchup mode where you can see where the setting is stored and you can edit it from there. alot of people like the Timeline but i personally find the Eventide more user friendly

Thank you, i do comparison videos because i havent found any out there, so i thought it would be very useful for people to choose a product if they hear a side by side comparison :) yes its alot of work, it takes up alot of my time

I own an Eventide, it's great! What I love a lot about it, beside the great amouth of parameters you can set, it's also the fact that you have a huge selection of "Tap divisions" or "time Signatures" (ranging from normal to odd ones), with which you can tap the delay tempo. And since now I still didn't find another delay pedal capable of this! I have a Line6 M9, which I use when I need a lighter setup and sometimes I miss the odds time signature the Eventide does.

I have two timelines and a timefactor. I love all of them and use all of them constantly. If you have the money get one of each. Although the timeline is warmer, the timefactor has nice edge type delays so it's just a matter of personal preference. Great demo!

It isnt updated on the eventide site. Download the updater and update the timefactor and firmware 5 will be loaded

@JROCK80s9 жыл бұрын
Here are the steps I did: Go to the Eventide Website and go to the Support Tab select TimeFactor scroll down and look for Eventide Update Utility download the updater depending on what OS you use. (Win or Mac) Create an account, then register your TF. Install the updater on your computer then update the TF using USB

I thought both sounded great. I had a TF for a while and the tape mode is really nice. Agree that the TF's infinite repeat feature is great (especially with phased delay) and you can have dual delays for ANY delay type on the TF. Think the Strymon has the edge on tape sound, though the TF tape mode does sound very good (especially as you can use the dual delays to mimic a multi-head) A very good demo, thanks!

@6:30 just screams that explosions in the sky tone that people are always trying to mimic. Both pedals sound great and this demo is fantastic. I'd give the slight edge to the TimeLine but you probably can't go wrong with either here.

Just ordered the Eventide Timefactor when someone recommended the Strymon. I was worried there for a minute. The Strymon is really nice but the Eventide is just more musical to my ears. Hard to know how each would cut through in a live mix, where lots of subtleties are drowned out.
@126wfer10 жыл бұрын
if you run in stereo u just dont regret it becouse the eventide is 2 delay in one and all the kind of delays that have give you the best sound even better that the strymon, the strymon have the option to run two delays but only digitals, the eventide have a lot more options, the strymon have more dsp but its innecesary
@MiguelBaptista19816 жыл бұрын
Timefactor was the only delay pedal I had that didn't mush the sound of my dirt when on. The dirt was crisp and intact, and the delay was as present, and dark/bright as I wanted. Timeline seems to mush a but, as did my Dl4, and my memory man. Something about the Timefactor that really keeps the dry signal intact while the delay interacts with it in a great way. I guess the Timeline has its original sounds, but not that much different than a Timefactor. Had to sell it though, may get one in the future.

I like the Strymon's UI and the overall design of the pedal. Both are gorgeous Delay machines, nevertheless.

I've got the Timefactor, and I think, by looking at this video, that it takes a bit more tweaking than the Strymon might. Both sound incredible. I'd like to try the Strymon, but I've got the other two Factor pedals, and I'm not sure my OCD would permit having a different one...
@svefngenglar112 жыл бұрын
Hey man. You've got some great videos on your channel! I was planning on getting a vox delaylab. But then I came across these two pedals as they have more functionality. I'm finding it hard to make a decision. Could you tell me the pros/cons of both by any chance? I appreciate your time man. Keep up the great videos!

@bartni7 жыл бұрын
I can't listen to it because of the strat. I don't understand why most delay tests on KZfaq are made with a strat. It has a clicky and really bright sound and all you hear in the delays is this clicky attack. I think a delay test should be done with a neck humbucker preferably. If you have any, I'll be happy to hear them.

Jack Butler If you invest in a Strymon, it is more expensive and requires constant updates. They evidently put products out before they have been completed. It takes several updates just to catch up with the competition.

In my experience, TimeFactor can output the exact same sound that you send to it. You can try by seting the delay to zero/none, mix at 100% and everything else to a neutral point. The modulation seems to be set to a nicer setting in the Strymon in this demo.
@johngaynor5317 жыл бұрын
I have the Timefactor and I use it in killdry so the all digital path is a non issue for me. I do like the "truth" of the Timefactor on the repeats better. If It was my in front of amp pedal I probably would opt for the Timeline. That being said the Nemesis is on the way here to check out !....
@Mechanicthing3 жыл бұрын
Both very good. I bought the Time Factor because it’s more hands on, one knob per function and dual delays throughout. Strymon sounds more “produced”, Time Factor better for expretimenting and glitch, which is what I like.
@bluemooncollision8 жыл бұрын
Never tried the time factor, but the lack of pitch shifting//shimmer and the lack of a feedback loop for fx, and some other modes, make me lean to the strymon. However if you want straight forward clean repeats, the time factor and the dd-500 are probably better due to price/having a clearer repeat right out of the box. clearer repeats on the timeline will require messing with the grit/filter knobs, and maybe even cycling through almost every mode for a clearer repeat or just adding eq somewhere in your rig whether it be a pedal, your amp, or your guitar tone knobs. ( or processor like axe fx) the korg sd3000 has amazing analog repeat sounds

Once you test this in 2 channel stereo you will see how this is not even a contest. The timefactor has dual delays on all the algorithms, and you can easily mess with the note divisions on each seperately.

The Tapedelay is much thicker and more realistic on the Eventide. However both do not come close to a Echoplex or a Dynachord Echocord S65/ Echolette Ng 51. If I have to choose I would go for the Eventide.

@GenYuden18 жыл бұрын
I have both. When I bought the Timeline I was expecting it to replace the Timefactor, but the Eventide simply has a much better Digital Delay, so I kept it purely for that. The Timeline does pretty much everything else better, the modulation is beautiful, but the digital delay isn't anywhere near as pure and clean as the Eventide.

I sold the time factor, because on the fly, it wasn't anywhere near as easy to use. There are a lot in the eventide boxes, and with midi you can pretty much create millions of delays. BUTTT the time line just beat it. IF YOU HAVENT TRIED, get your hands on a space. THAT PEDAL IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!

But honestly I do not use the Timefactor too much but maybe I'll dig a little deeper.
@josethealvarez8 жыл бұрын
timefactor all day...the strymon colors your sound, a good sounding color (i own a blue sky and a timefactor), but the timefactor gives you a cleaner crisper sounding digital delay, not to mention the dual delay modes on every type of delay setting. the strymon looks cooler and thats about it!
@Astralwurksdk7 жыл бұрын
You are massively underrating the Strymon. I like the fact that it slightly colors the sound. That is something all legendary pedals do. It makes them recognizable among other pedals.

Evantide is also a twin delay, meaning on any setting you can individually adjust the milliseconds and number of repeats for two separate delays. It doesn't seem the Strymon has that feature. The STrymon seems to have more delay options, I am a little disappointed in how few delay types the Evantide has available.
@christopherventer639110 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have that feature on every machine like the Timefactor. However the Timeline does have a Dual Delay mode which can do this. For me, what puts me firmly on the Strymon side of this, is the analog dry path, the great analog and tape modes, and the ability to also produce a nearly identical repeat if you want to (also the preset changing is instantaneous).
@Ghost3dOnline10 жыл бұрын
And also the ability to bank up and down with your feet, without a secondary foot switch. I have owned both, needless to say the timeline is on my board and the timefactor is not :)
@126wfer10 жыл бұрын
Nate then sell the timefactor, i like them booth the eventide have the twin delay that im looking for
@javiceres9 жыл бұрын
Bear in mind that the Eventide was released several years sooner. Actually a lot of the Strymon fx are "inspired" in classic Eventide effects. Anyway both are great. BTW in any mode in the TFactor you can also set the mix for each of the twin delays, si for instance in ducking delay you can have a compressor in a delay line that's not delayed and replaces the original signal and still have a regular delayed line... And mix in some dry signal if you will to achieve parallel compression.
@javiceres9 жыл бұрын
For me, I couldn't live without the TF's dual delay freeze mode available at any time. That's also great with synths and rythm machines, to create poly-rythmic miniloops with tape saturation etc. Single delay freezing sounds way too boring and repetitive to me. But if it was going to be my first "big" delay pedal and haven't tryed none of them, I'd perharps go for the Strymon based on variety of sounds available. I'd feel a bit sult for opting for the "copy" instead of the pioneer though... :B

I'll stick with my Belle Epoch and El Capistan delays these 2 are very nice but I'm more on the analog tape side, plus I didn't have to pay something equal to a damn down payment on a freakin car! 🎸🎵

On that shoot-out the win goes to the TimeLive. The TimeLive for lack of a better word sounds more musical whereas the TimeFactor sounds overly processed.
@jorgepeterbarton10 жыл бұрын
I would say anything really! The space of course covers a lot, but i lost interest in the timeline, because its very reverb-like and those shimmer/ice sounds are covered...its got a hi-fi, thin-sounding perhaps quality that gets lost in mixes, and would like a fat dynamic delay, so went to the vox delaylab which is like this, has plenty extras but they are more like multi-fx than ambient settings on the timeline, it costs a lot less and the comparison demos i actually prefer its standard delays
@pabdiary10 жыл бұрын
Some people mentioned liking that the Strymon and is more crisp and cuts better. I don't think you should consider this when picking one pedal. Your amp can make the Eventide brighter with the treble or presence knob. I think it is better to focus on which pedal has more options that you can use for your style of playing. The eventide is cheaper I think.
