I work nine to five in a stressful office and your videos have helped me a lot with calming my nerves and regaining focus. I usually play them with earphones plugged in after lunch. Your voice is very relaxing and it's always fun to switch my gaze to see how the painting you're describing unfolds :)

Thank you. As always I enjoyed it. I learn things from all of your videos. Those are painting knives. I don't know why most artists call the painting knife a palette knife. The palette knife actually looks like a long buttering knife, and is used for mixing the paint on the palette. The painting knife is used to take the the paint off the palette and paint it on your canvas.

Sound on this one was crystal clear. 44:47 😄, sounds like my real voice, lol. Loved the misty look & the pale green highlights. The ZOOM classes are wonderful by the way, for anyone interested in improving their landscape painting skills.

Hi Stuart, just to let you know that I've watched this video and part 1 in their entireties. Yep, I wouldn't argue with your description of the sound quality in part 1, however, let's not confuse that with what was said. It was worth the effort to listen carefully - full of pearls - thank you once again

This was great to see how to get that misty look, we have a fog on occasion here amongst the woods and cypress trees. It will be quite prevalent in the fall. And cameras do not pick it up as accurately as our eyes.

Stuart I am so glad you are doing better. As for having to long a video, I have always been told that the longer you focus on what you are learning time means nothing it is the dedication you have to achieve perfection. Personally I love the long video's because it is so much easier to down something in your mind.

Dear Stuart, I don’t know if you know that any electrical power sources near your microphone will interfere with the microphone causing static noises, if that was what you heard in your last tutorial. My husband Terry has a recording studio and I paint. Love watching you painting, while I take time out from painting. Many Blessings, Annie Queensland Australia.

Aha! So it wasn’t my iPad after all. I’m glad you discovered the audio problem, Stuart. As always, this video was inspiring and soothing in equal measure. I may yet buy a couple of small canvas boards, a few “starter colors,” and take a crack at a tonalist landscape. You do indeed make it look easy, fun, and highly gratifying. Of course, only an experienced artist and gifted teacher can do so. And now that the audio is fixed on the previous video, I’m going to watch it again!

I love the perspective on this painting. could you tell me/us about gesso? I was taught that i could use 3 layers of ordinary wall paint, sanded in-between. As you have altered my way of painting I am getting through more canvasses than before, and so I am looking for ways to economise!
@StuartDavies

In your last tutorial, I heard you talking all the way through, just a bit of static coming out. Did you turn your volume up full, it might be just a bit dull. But in this one it kept cutting out about just a bit over half way, while I was typing this suggestion. Annie Queensland Australia

Not sure of your pc skills, so just thought I would suggest basics: I like working with solid state drive for faster memory upload and download, in addition to RAM. The more RAM, the faster your computer can process reading data in addition to its other processing tasks. I also close out unneeded background programs running when doing a specific job by pulling up task manager and stopping those not needed for the task. They will resume when you restart your computer. I found my best camera transfer to a solid state external memory drive saved me hours of time and kept my pc from bogging. The other part, one I have to plan, is defragment of the internal disk. Mine is now set weekly because it takes a long time if not done regularly and condenses space in use. Also, storing large files as zip file can take up less memory; there is free zip file software, just check consumer ratings.
