Mr. Davies, you sir are so far from "extremely boring" that you're teetering on "phenomenally interesting." Between being a wonderful painter, a writer, a book cover designer, where you live and your time on Earth, I believe I could sit and listen to your stories for hours. People have always had a fascination with other people's lives. How does it compare to ours? Is theirs normal? Weird? Cool? Now with your improved cameras, the glimpse into your studio and watching you move about, teach and speak art all the same time is a great package. I say thank you.

So nice to see you walking around your studio, it made for a more complete painting experience 😊 Love the sky, there was a face in it just above the cliff edge which you finally almost completely obliterated, though I can still see it because I know it’s there! Really lovely picture, you’re a genius

Your skies are tumultuous- not depressing. I love it when mother nature gets cranky lol. I grew up on the ocean, watching storms from my front porch... Like you cannot paint a "calm" sky? I can't paint a calm ocean. I also don't particularly want to.

I just took my first plunge two weekends ago and went to a local art store's class. Very basic introduction to types of paints, brushes, strokes and how thicknesses of paints react to trying to do certain things. The one thing they talked about was how board kind gets floppy the bigger it gets and she suggested a backer of thin plywood to keep it a bit more rigid. I figured I'd say that since you mentioned it in this vid. I'd like to note that if the cliff is a little older and weathered many plant types can find purchase on such a facing. I've seen a lot of prairie 'cliffs' almost as steep as that which are filled with grass and brush. About all you'd need to do is add a few spots of darker black or brown to make it look like patchwork brush.

Living in Iowa, I viewed the rolling greens of summer farmlands to the golds of autumn. Then to the High Plains of east Colorado, the Great American Desert, with the browns of summer where the skies are Not cloudy all day. I see your clouds and remember the forever blue skies of Colorado.

I thoroughly enjoyed part 2 of Poldark's Pass, and am happy to be one of your Patreons. Congratulations on another masterful finish to one of your paintings. It's interesting to know your thought process as you dance around the canvas before diving in. I do all kinds of things in my pre-painting dance as well.. I was invited to have a solo exhibit of my paintings this summer, to show October through the end of the year, in a beautiful church in downtown Colorado Springs. I had nine oil paintings ready to go that were studies of well known master artist angel sculptures. In 2 months I painted nine more land and sky paintings, using your quick big brush, blending techniques. They are 18"x36" and 30"x40", some on gessoed 1/2" birch plywood panels, and some on 1/4" masonite, that my husband cut for me from 4x8 pieces I got from Home Depot. As I could not afford to frame them all, they are unframed, hung with canvas stretchers mounted on the back with velcro and glue. The collection is named Earth & Sky and Angel Warriors. Thanks for your inspiration and generous sharing of your technique, Stuart, you are a gem!

I just found your channel yesterday and loved part 1 of this tutorial (or whatever😂). I’m thrilled you didn’t find music to add to it. I’m probably your age or a little older and retired from a profession far removed from that of a starving artist…which is what I would have been. Listening to you talk your way through the video gave me a lot of insight into your thinking process. That in itself was invaluable. I’m here on KZfaq because I’ve had to turn away from traditional oils as one of my young dogs couldn’t tolerate the solvents. Water colours, acrylics and pastels are not my forte so I’m learning to adjust to water mixables. Concepts are the same. I love your style. I also love skies and was extremely happy to be able to watch this video and see the change👍. OK is OK. Dramatic and powerful skies are are always so much more awe inspiring ! Half way through I can see where you’re heading. Love it better already. I limit my FB time but I’ll be checking out your website when I’m done here

👋Hi Stuart, I love this finishing touch for the clouds. They appear more voluminous and a bit more natural now, although I also liked them before. But now they are WOW. The cliff and red band in the sky also look very realistic after the few changes you've made, although I saw green cliffs as well. I wouldn't add the moon. This work of art is excellent as it is. - A word to your book: It's still not here, I think because of Brexit, ordered in August, but that is not your fault. In the meantime I've ordered it for the 3rd time and it hopefully will have arrived by Christmas 🙂 I'm patient...Have a nice week, Stuart, and stay healthy.👍❤

Well I must say I do absolutely ❤ the dual cameras. I hope that’s not a lot of extra work for you. The addition of those white clouds, & how you achieved the effects is gorgeous. I really like the addition of the darker blue on the left for additional contrast. The added grayish-blue added to the cliffs reminds me of the colors of the many granite cliffs in the northern Appalachian Mountains 😊 Ty! Ty! I was excited to watch. Really enjoyed it.

Beautiful addition Stuart! I’ve loved every sky you’ve painted and I think I love this one the most! My family and I binged watched Poldark, what a fun series. It was rather hysterical how often he galloped on his horse down the path in one scene and then back in the next scene. I can just see him in this painting. I always get excited when you bring out the big brush… I know that magic will ensue. It happened again this time. I didn’t mind the green cliff but I love this rocky one too. Thanks Stuart as always for the most wonderful inspiration.

I'm an avid follower of yours, and I always stay to the end of all your videos. I have started a couple paintings in your style and I am happy with the results so far. I am impatient with the waiting for the paint to dry so I can do the blending. In the meantime, I shopped for a large blending brush, but wallpaper brushes are like Hens teeth on the West Coast of Canada (Vancouver). However, I found a 5" brush that is meant for DeckStain that will do the job just as well. For your Canadian fans, they are available at Home Depot stores for $18.00. I recognised your painting of the cliffs at Beachy Head.. I lived in Hastings before emigrating in 1963. I look forward to your next video.

Lovely finish. The clouds made a huge difference. Perhaps you could do a sky in a purplish/plum haze sonetime Stuart.. ? You seem to have had one about 7 years ago which was a speed painting but youtube is hiding your older videos. I watched it some time ago but cannot find it now. I looked on your website and I think it may be the second painting in your gallery. Anyway, those are the colours I would like to see in a painting. 😊

You think your studio is untidy! I recently finished a biography of Francis Bacon and watched a few KZfaq videos about him . Some photos and shots were shown of his studio at Reece Mews; somewhere among the piles of material and detrius plus paint splattered walls, was a paint stained easel at which he created the beings that peopled his canvases. Your studio is quite tidy by comparison :-)

I purchased online six rolls of industrial size paper towels, thinking it was like what you use. It is thin and slightly textured and not as stiff as I had expected. But I think if I twist it up enough I can get the same effects you use with your whipping technique. 💕🙏 Nonetheless I paid 30 bucks for 6 rolls so that's going to go a lot further than $30 worth of grocery store paper towels for other uses! Hope you are enjoying what's left of your Sunday. 🙏💕
