Thank you for the reminder, that finding joy in the process is truly where it's at - as with anything in life. I am, and will probably remain, a struggling uke player for life but what I do know is when I practice I lose all sense of time. And when I get frustrated with my inability to advance on a certain uke skill it's probably because I'm challenging myself, which is a good thing. Similar to how I like to play tennis with someone better than myself just for the personal challenge. Thank you again, I'm glad I found your channel.

Something I've been trying to do is learn a new note a week and then playing a song with that new note and if I'm feeling adventurous, I learn a second note. Yeah it's slow, but I don't feel like I need to race anyone. I'm just enjoying the experience. Once it stops being fun I stop. Then pick it up the next day.

Such a great lesson! So many great advices and stories. I especially like the one about the student who worked on the same song for a year. I feel like you could work on any intricate song almost an infinite amount of time just because as you grow, the songs you know grow with you. Also the depth of the dynamics can grow even after you've learned all the notes and techniques, not to mention variations you can add to any song. So yeah. That's really cool to think about. 😅 Another way it's so easy to get stuck is getting stuck in your head. Physical impediments in learning something are challenging, but if you have the idea that you can't do something, then you may not try at all, like with me and strumming. Or fear can be another huge block. Those are the forms of being stuck I struggle with the most, but having a community like Rock Class 101, the great students and instructors there, has helped so much with those things. And the great private lessons with Matt. Thank you for that! 😊 I'll save the strum goblins for another time, but rest assured they shan't be forgotten. 😂😅 Thank you for these amazing lessons! 😊💕

Hi Matt, thank you for this video! I am new to the Ukulele.... for about 1 month. I can play some accords with strumming patterns. But I wonder.... if you play a melody (like the piece you are practicing at the moment :)) I understand, how you play the notes. But how do you know what your right hand plays? Which finger do you use? Does this have a system? I didnt find anything which explains that in detail... Best wishes from Germany!!

Thank you for the kind words! I'd recommend checking out our fingerpicking course: rockclass101.com/fingerpicking-concepts-intro-fingerstyle/ It'll teach you 3 ways to fingerpick, enabling you to determine (on your own) which approach to use depending on the context of the material you are playing. 😊

I appreciate your request, but unfortunately I do not think that's something we will offer. We do have a banjolele course that teaches clawhammer technique for high G tuning: rockclass101.com/clawhammer-technique/ As well as, stand-alone banjolele lessons: rockclass101.com/songcategories/?_sft_post_tag=bluegrass-banjolele
