Hello Mr Staszak, regarding the bypass yes we install them on the system when we have a Hot Water Cylinder and Central Heating and if having a Combination Boiler with Central Heating and underfloor heating and there is already a bypass inside the boiler do we need to install an extra one outside? I would appreciate your answer. Thank you

Hi Tomek, Thanks dzienki for asking, yes the boiler factory may include one but it's not big enough to regulate all the rads which will have changing pressure as it warms or cools down, that's why we HAVE to put external about a metre away to keep the BOILER flow rate constant. take care, George Staszak 👍

Good day, How should the air be vented from the grundfos pump ups 25-60 180 that pumps the fluid down? Does the internal bleeder screw have a special adjustment method?

Good Morning Mr A, thanks for asking, this and all pumps with a front screw, When filling or draining pump MUST be OFF. after all the rads and system are full then put absorbent paper or cloth, slowly undo the screw to release the air/water, then put a screwdriver and turn in the direction of the arrow do NOT go anti arrow because it cannot vent. Refit screw keek the cloth for any drips, switch on to FULL speed for 30 seconds or when quite, reset speed to system requirement. Hope the helps, regards, George Staszak 👍

If replacing a pump or pump head, what do the first numbers (i.e. "15" or "25") refer to? I know the second figure (i.e. "50", "60", etc.) refers to the head, and third figure (i.e. "130" or "180") refers to the distance between the 1" or 1½" BSP mounting points, but the first figure is a mystery. Someone said it was port size, but what is that - the internal or external diameter of the incoming pipe, or the smallest pipe diameter in the heating system (I, for instance, have 28mm OD pipe either side of my pump, reduced to 22mm OD for the circulator pipes, and 15mm OD branches to the rads.

Thanks for asking, lots don't know, 15-50 or 15-60 ***** 15 is mm in the inlet bore of the body, this acts as a Venturi to speed up the flow to make the impeller go faster, especially important on start up because it MUST go to MAX revs in 0.5 second or less or we get an error code (change pump or no water) The 6 or 60 means 6 meters distance from the centre to the farthest rad OR to the top of the water F&E tank. Good practice is 3 m of 22mm from the boiler valves like micro bore, this will lower heating cost + increase efficiency normally NOT done in UK only EU. Take care, George Staszak 👍

@@mrcombiBedford - Thanks George, you know your stuff! But how would you go about deciding if the pump inlet should be 15 or 25? And also when would you choose a stainless steel over a bronze or cast iron pump?
@mrcombiBedford
@mrcombiBedford Жыл бұрын
@@Benzknees Its decided by the specifier which pump is large enough, 15 is domestic 25 small Hotel / office block 35+ anything larger than that, the other metals is used for pumping water or chemicals. You need to ask them which is best to use. regards, George

Hi, wonder if you can advise me on an issue I am trying to get fixed, I’m not an engineer just a consumer. Here’s a brief outline (this btw is my 96 yr old mothers system)...New boiler installed end of 2016 Ideal Logic +15...early 2017 new Grundfos UPS3 pump fitted...since then I have had Ideal engineers out 3 times in last 2 years due to issues...on first 2 occasions they replaced most of the boiler internals Issues were varied like fault codes, noises etc), after the second visit had to have the pump replaced again same model (April this year) and recently they came out again as there is a loud knocking, popping noise coming from boiler. Sods law the day they came it was not making the noises but I played a video of the boiler/noises and they said immediately its not a fault with boiler but an issue with the water flow through system backing this up with the fact that the temp difference between inflow and outflow pipes was way over the acceptable level. They asked if they could have a look at the pump in airing cupboard and the tank in loft. Using magnets they showed areas that have a build up of sludge and they also said that the new pump had been installed upside down and this could cause issues as it is self ventilating. The boiler is serviced every year (by the company that installed the boiler and 2 pumps) and I accept that the system probably needs a pressure flush to clear this sludge but are they correct that the pump could also cause an issue the way it has been fitted? I ask only to try and clarify the position as I do not want to press this point to hard if in fact it makes no difference which way the pump is fitted. Many thanks for any advice you can offer.

Dear Ian, oh dear what a shame what a bunch of installers??? I hope you did NOT pay for any work under guarantee, Firstly the original pump should last 6+ years, its directional see the arrow is pointing to the valves. To be honest ALL of the old system should have been removed so sludge would not enter the new one. Too late, its obvious power flush was not done correctly NO or not enough inhibitor was used, Magnetic filter filter, auto by-pass ? You need to contact Ideal U G'tee get a report, if they charge, claim later Contact Gas Safe to come to have a look + report Get legal advice re claiming against installers for a new system Find an Ideal (or other make) local hero to start again looks like this system is ruined, now you know, see my blue video Heating Expansion TANK problems SOLVED All the best George Staszak❤

@@mrcombiBedford Hi George, many thanks for your response and the advice. All of the work carried out by Ideal has been done under the warrany which is in force for 1 more year. I have taken on board all that you have said and will take it from there. Watched the video you referred to so gained more knowledge about how these things work. Again appreciate you getting back to me with solid advice. Thanks, Ian.

Hi Steven, thanks for asking, all the pump covers are removed because all the engineers have to learn the short circuit test, it's just to speed up learning here. In a house you would still do the same test. regards George Staszak
