1874: The Saturday Down stud farm was founded with a herd of Lipițan horses from the Lipica stud farm in Slovenia, where the selection process for this breed began in 1580;
1913: around the outbreak of the world war, the Saturday Down stud farm was permanently moved, with its entire staff (322 heads), to Babolna in Hungary;
1920: The Romanian state re-establishes the Saturday Down Stud Farm, as a national stud farm, with 3 nursery stallions and 22 mother mares;
Between 1990 and 2002, the Saturday Down stud farm was part of the former "R.A. Horse Breeds". and "S.N. Race Horses S.A.";
November 2002, the stud farm passes to the administration of the National Forests Authority. Within the complex there is also the "Brukenthal Castle", a building declared an architectural monument that is part of the national heritage. The castle was built between 1750-1760 by the nobles of Count Brukenthal, the brother of Samuel Brukenthal - the founder of the Museum in Sibiu.
