Love the 1950`s look of the Studebaker....That car you showed was awesome !! I never had anything like this personally..Ie CD player...But did have a portable cassette radio player with huge chunky headphones that i`d wear whilst out delivering mail,in my earlier days....Don`t use any portable device now,to be honest.Great review..The times i have played Come Fly with me !!!..cheers..Ade

I haven't seen a portable CD player like that in years-I had a Sony player that was in a metal case-trying to remember what I did with it.Replaced it with a Radio Shack Maximus or whatever player that was well liked by the high end Hi-Fi magazines.The RS machine does have an incredible sound quality on a headset or played thru a hi-fi system.Used to use these players while riding on airlines or buses,trains during travels.Now its DVD players or a IPad.Do like the look of that Studebaker CD machine.Lucious color.Someone told me CD's and players may make a comeback as LP's and cassettes are doing.

I LOVE portable CD players! In fact, I just picked up a Panasonic SL-S140 player at Value Village for $7. Works perfectly, but it doesn't have anti-skip, like a lot of early portable CD players.

I am intrigued by the Studebaker. It does have the sleek retro design going for it. Your sound test review, the Studebaker seemed okay, I also am looking for portable CD player, with an AM/FM radio, so this is definitely a good thing I think

I was considering getting an expensive Crosley Fleetwood but now I'm leaning toward a portable CD player like this, since I already have a nice stand alone radio. My freshman year of high school was the last year only rich kids had iPods so I was still carrying my CDs and cd player in my backpack each day. I was a pretty geeky kid but I remember some of the jocks who usually wouldn't talk to me being surprised by all my punk and old school hip hop CDs. Fun times!

I just got a portable CD player. I got a cheap one that was $17 and it sounds really good!! It has fm radio but the screen doesn’t show what channel it’s on :/ that’s the only downside.

One and a half year later... It still works? I am thinking about buying one and in the Amazon comments there are a pair about it was broken after less than a year.

Would you do a review on the Studebaker hifi Workstation? Is it true it cost half the price of a Bose Wave Music System IV but it's better??

I had the black non clear window dual aa battery and dc output power adapter for continuous power supply for playing non stop...it was the first version of the car discman before it was called a walkman or the car ready kit,, and the Panasonic mash Marlboro version both had shock protection

Although they are portable and meant to use with headphones, does the player have its own speaker which I could listen to music with out headphones? If not what CD player do you recommend with speaker output I’m really interesting in buying one that’s good for an affordable price

These do not have speakers....you need to connect an external one. Maybe try a portable cd boombox?

You will need earphones......there are no speakers.

Just got it yesterday. I found out that its bass boost isn't as aggressive with the distortion as the Sony D-E350. The quality wasn't so good until I fixed it by wiping my headphones connector. I had to get it because one of the hinges broke off, and I was worried about the other hinge breaking and being ruled unable to play in my pocket.

The notches on the bottom sides of the Sony are for mounting it to a pedestal type mount expensive option but designed for use in the vehicle before the car discman and the following car ready discman before the switch to the walkman and the new design logo holographic look

When I was in high school, Discmans were superlame, you just *had* to have the MP3 players, the USB drives with a screen on it. People actually got bullied for walking around with Discman bags, it was the equivalent of walking around in sandals with white socks. Looks kinda funny when a Discman has a 50s design; would be even better if the casing was made out of enamel with a chrome metal badge on it 😜 Does the Studebaker has a loudness or bass boost button? I think that could make the difference even smaller!

I agree it could be a tad smaller, but I do love the design elements presented with this device! It does have a base boost system which works good

This is happening all the time..when i was in highschool the discman was a must..people with cassette walkmans got bullied..i bet before that, those walkmans was the super cool thing to have 😄

That's the car kit version of the sony i had the model just after it but before it was relabeled the car discman

I like these videos. The only thing I don’t like is the music he chooses. Always 50s or Cartoon soundtracks. How about some rock or pop?

He doesn’t like rock or pop for the most part! He mostly plays big band music, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, etc.

Sold by: CCHKFEI ...the particular device retails for a little over $51 at Amazon. The company has more than one model but this one is the 51 dollar bluetooth device I refer to. And I have had several koss brand cvs from the 1998-2001 3 actually personal cd players and most of them fell off the dash of my 78 Chevy c20 and snapped the lid off except the one that missed the edge of the seat and hit the floor board transmission tunnel in a th400 automatic large transmission tunnel hump, and broke the display right off

And my Sony dnf walkman has tv weather and am fm and mp3 and bass boost hyper bass.. and if I could afford it or find a few examples in great functional condition I would buy a few Panasonic shock wave versions of personal cd and mp3 shock protection players great systems but they are pricey even used
