They have to behave in a professional manner and take every call serious because it could actually be serious and most calls aren't pranks all the time, so they can't really joke around they are at work not a comedy show. They have a job to do and are meant to do it in a professional manner, plus if you waste their time obviously they are not gonna be happy coz you could be preventing other serious calls from bring addressed etc.
