Behind the scenes video.
It is difficult to make all the paperwork and book a studio at University so we built a green screen studio in our living room.
Now we can film any time of the day and we don' t have to spend money for travelling to university. It is also more convenient since we can leave our setup overnights.

Hey guys, awesome that the made such a useful space yourselves! What kind of green fabric did you use? Hoping to construct something similar for a music video but green screen fabric is quite expensive, wondering how you guys hacked that? thank you ✌🏻

Hey Rich! thank you for your question. Honestly we went with amazon's best option [price to size ratio] - my order was 3M x 6M Studio Photography Backdrop Cotton Muslin. It costed £49.98. We spent another £50 for the lights you don't see in this video. We put on the ceileing a squere of 4 T8 5FT 5' 24W Milky LED Tubes (6000K -sligltly cooler for the green screen). These tubes were used for fabric only.... and the last £50 spent on two softboxes +stands. (5500K - for the colour seperation)

How did you deal with the green spills

I used one of the free apps on the phone. While setting up the light on the ceiling (which can be only seen at 0:08 3d project). Sometimes I took one of the softboxes and put on the floor so it shines from bottom up. that helped a lot

any projects with this room? looked like a solid build and we are getting ready to do one ourselves. was wondering if there were any hiccups, either during or in post?
@TheReinholds

We did 1 experimental short film for uni. In post it is all down to the lighting. For background we used long LED lights attached to the ceiling to get rid of any unwanted hotspots. Sometimes had to put softboxes down on the floor to illuminate the bottom part of the green screen. Using mobile app, we measured hotspots and in that way we knew how much more powerful or how far away we need to put the lights away.

Fun With Kaylee agreed👍🏼 I thought about doing that very same thing in my home office. Never bothered, but it'd be nice to see a few actual shots of the final product in action.

Well, I would say paint is better for long term. This setup was made in living room for one month, after everything had to be in same place again

How big was this room ? Any videos you guys made with this set up ? I have a small room and I was thinking of doing this
@TheReinholds
@TheReinholds 2 жыл бұрын
I would say 8m x 3m room. The video was only for university (copyrighted material). A small room is fine as long as you can equally light the background and make no hotspots. To do so, you will need lights on the sides not only from the top. I am saying that, because they take space from the sides and even for us- 3m wide green screen; only 2m space was usable. And you definitely need space between camera and subject, subject and background (no shadows)

How much money spent to make this happen?
@TheReinholds
@TheReinholds 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremia, We spent about £30 on wood supplies from local BnQ. another 75 for two lights and a green screen. (Some Amazon Prime offer) There are four long led lights that you can't see in this video but we put them later on the ceiling (in square ) you can see that in 3D plan: 0:08 Those 4 LED lights another £40 (including the holding brackets) So in total about £150.

hey guys i have made three walls green that are 11 feet high. distance between the right and left wall is 10 feet. what sort of light should i use to light up the three walls. specially the corners. cheers
@TheReinholds
@TheReinholds 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, We used 4 led batten tube lights above. When you mount them use some free app to check your green screen light hotspots. Make sure it is evenly lit. Don't put the light close to the green screen. In general anything you go with has to be evenly spread out. Theoretically many many led tubes above, very soft light, should give the best result.

a 3D plan before (even Sketch-Up will do). Make sure each light can be separately controlled, so probably an extension lead with individual switches. about £150, some free friends, essential tools like hammer and saw, and a whole day of your time. :)
