So unfair! My teen daughter has been "dress coded" many times at her middle school unfairly for clothing that I felt was completely appropriate. One of the biggest problems with the dress code is that it seems to only apply to certain students, and always only females. Time for rules to change! It's not the 1800's!

The main issue I think is who enforces the dress code. In high school this girl was basically humiliated when the teacher told her that the shirt she was wearing was too short even though it covered her stomach. She then proceeded to talk about how important the dress code was and of course we all knew that no one was dress coded.

If your body should not concern us, keep it covered up. Most men do not have breasts. Their areolas are smaller compared to most women. I think this country would be a much better place if women like you were sent to Afghanistan to be taken down a peg, while their women are brought here, where they can appreciate modesty without suppression.

I’m so glad someone else recognizes this. Girls at my school constantly get dress coded for wearing something that 1. Isn’t distracting the boys and 2. Is actually following dress code. And it’s not right that dress codes are mainly focused on girls either, I’ve just barely managed to not get dress coded because I wear a hoodie over everything. I’m a boy. Everyone at my school knows girls are a target to dress coding and I say it should stop too. The boys are the ones always getting detention for having hoodies up or hats on. When a girl’s never get bothered for that stuff, but way more strict code.

I swear this also just instills more insecurities in young girls, it definitely messed with me in school cause I’m a bit …larger… up top so I was always getting called out for something I couldn’t control and then get made fun of by kids after😭 thank you for making this and helping inspire other girls that need to know it’s not THEM it’s boys that haven’t been taught to keep their hands and eyes to themselves

I still some times do even when working in places I very obviously shouldn’t be getting hit on and tbh I’ve had to do a lot of telling people off. Even in front of bosses who luckily stood by me. I’m proud I have a voice but I hate that since it’s been a thing from a young age I’ve always just kinda wanted to be hidden. I’m 29 now and I will occasionally dress cute but it’s not often and I almost never wear make up. I’m at that weird stage of trying to be comfortable with myself but still not wanting attention from others.

@@The_first_something_weird the video it’s self definitely not but how people treat dress codes and the children wearing the clothes def does in my opinion/experience cause getting dress coded and told I wasn’t allowed to wear things cause they basically s3xualize our bodies at a young age cause “it’ll distract the boys” it’s always “oh your too tall so you can’t wear a dress/skirt/shorts -that completely cover you- simply cause it’s *distracting*” or “oh you’re more filled out than the other kids so even though your strap on your tank is 4 inches wide and the requirement is no less than 2 inches wide you still can’t wear that cause it’s distracting to the boys” I hated it and it made me so uncomfortable in my own skin especially cause other kids would pick on me rather than stand up for me. I had to find my own voice and fight it any time they did try something. Inches on the strap “okay lemme grab my ruler right quick” “too short? Last I checked it had to go past my finger tips which it does or do I need to ask admin for the student handbook”😫 it’s ridiculous how teachers and principals pick and choose who to get on to simply cause we are tall or a little more curvy than most others in our age group

I was wondering why the boys didn't get in trouble, in situations like that, it could be counted as verbal sexual harassment, what women wear is not an invitation or a sight to see, women should feel comfortable in clothing they prefer and shouldn't be treated anymore different then a beautiful women that they are. it is completely unfair the standards held against women and their clothing choice by society.

I got dress coded at work for shorts and it was 100 degrees outside and they sent me home so I stayed home. Let’s just say I don’t work there anymore. They let the men wear shirts and I can see their nipples through them but want me to wear a bra. It is the most sexist thing because men can’t keep it in their pants and then they blame women… the only time I’m for dress codes is if you are dealing with certain machines or equipment where your hair could get stuck or chemicals spilled on you. Everything else you should be able to wear whatever. Society is so dumb. No I don’t want to wear a pant suit I want to wear jeans and a cute crop top.

My opinion is there should be a dress code in schools, But it should be equal for boys and girls. If there is no dress code students won't wear properly because they know that they won't be dress coded. You come to school to study not to show your shoulders and stomach 🤷♀️

The dress code is always so strict on girls, like why are we getting in trouble for the fact that some other people are distracted. The other day I got in trouble for wearing leggings, with a top that didn't pass my @$$. Then I saw like 6 other people get dress coded for tang tops, shorts, belly buttons, bra straps showing, TOO ripped jeans, and dumb stuff like that, they were all girls, and the other day my strap was showing, and my teacher was like pull up your shirt and I did then I got cold and put on a jacket and she was like Much better. Then today they come on morning announcements and are like we have seen so many girls with "short shorts" and showing "midriff" or "shoulders", then they literally said, "we shouldn't be seeing anymore FLESH" Like what!?! It's just not fair and at this point it's become a joke amongst most of the girls like "omg, Abby your ankles are showing that's like so distracting you're going to get in soooo much trouble". IM done with the dress code and kind of want to purposefully go against it. if anyone knows they go to the same school or even the same county i think we need to do something about cause im over it, if you have ideas pls tell me, this is a real issue. the dress code is so old and $exi$t.

bro our dress code is actually reasonable cause we cannot wear anything revealing that shows our stomachs, private parts, etc but we can’t wear sandals or flip flops or anything that shows our feet because they don’t want anyone stepping on our feet plus we cannot wear those for PE but one thing that is stupid, they have to be able to see our ears so we aren’t allowed to have our hoods up in the halls but I do it anyway and never get caught or at least the teachers don’t care if I wear hoods except my engineering teacher hates when we wear hoods

thank you piper for making this video to truly show how unfair it is for the girls to get dress coded even if some one is wearing the same thing, the other girl would get dress coded just because she has a different body type. we are all built different for a reason and just because somebody doesn’t have the same body doesn’t mean that you should dress code them. coming from a fellow 13 yr old

I would always stood up if something wrong happens . Especially when someone creates a disparity between girls and boys dress codes . Standing for someone who is right is a right think to do . I have always stood up for my friends whenever something wrong happens or some kind of disparity is there . We also have dress code in our school but it is same for both boys and girls and i am thankful for that . Anywyz love you pipes hope you have a awesome day 💖❤

one time i wore tank top to school before during summer when it was super warm outside at school and the teacher made me put on a sweater for the whole day. That same day a boy also had a tank top on so he was showing his shoulders also but he didn't have too put a sweater on. Its so unfair, just because some boys are inappropriate and pigs sometimes, doesn't mean girls should not be allowed to show some skin. Boys go out in public all the time with no shirts on and they don't get in trouble. I believe that boys and girls should be equal and hopefully someday they can be

Piper thank you so much for this video. I am homeschooled but I deal with my parents dress code. I’m almost 15 and my parents need to exam my outfit to make sure it’s “modest” enough. I am so tired of people saying “ your going to distract the boys” or as my father says “ you don’t know how a boys mind works. We should all be allowed to wear what we want and it shouldn’t matter what other people think. I totally agree that you should wear what makes you feel confident and pretty. Not for anyone else but for yourself. I’ve watched this video about 5 times because it really makes a very point and helps me. Thank you so much Piper. Keep up the good work!

Teachers be like: your distracting the boys with your outfit, it’s too revealing. Ok then, how about we teach the boys not to get distracted when they see us. Us girls wanna wear what we wanna wear, you never dress code the boys, but if girls even have the tiniest rip in there jeans, they get in trouble for it? Like teachers need to actually realize what they are saying, and not yell at us for wearing what we want. It’s a free country for god sake.

We had a new girl coming in class halfway through the year. She has a larger chest and wore a crop top. (It was summer 2018, most girls wore one) she was send away because it was “distracting”. One girl spoke up right away and said why the other girl was send away but she wasn’t. The teacher said that she was wearing a “tighter” shirt. (BS) A group of girls all left together, I also left at that moment. We went to a cat cafe after. Sadly this teacher never changed and the girl started wearing normal t-shirts instead of croptops… I wonder how she’s doing now and if she’s wearing what she wants to again….

If you are all so comfortable with what you deem as appropriate to wear then you should have no issues at all when boys look you over. It is obviously being worn for a reason other than just comfort in these cases.... Just saying if boys have to accept how you look then you need to be accepting of the looks back, because that is the real reason you wear this type of stuff.... truth hurts, I know..... save the "comfort" for when you are out of high school and try learning instead of putting on a fashion show for the jock who only wants 1 thing and will just forget you after graduation anyway.

I love how this video directs attention to girls and young woman being criticized on the things they wear. If someone doesnt like or cant stop looking at you in a certain shirt, pair of pants, or even a whole outfit then they should deal with themselves first. Why should girls have to limit themselves when boys cant keep it in their pants.

I remember that we cannot show those shoulders in class and we cannot wear miniskirts or anything that time I was only in 4th grade and now I'm in 6th grade and we got like dress coded and then all of my students were standing up for me. And then I was wearing a white tank-top it has to be like less than three fingers but when I went to my first day of 6th grade they don't have dress code is.

I just wanna clear something up, yes, feel comfortable in your skin, you should be pushed around, but schools are doing it *for your safety* there many teenage pregnancy because of this, someone shows there stomach, a boy dates her, things go to far and bam. Also keep in mind alot of weird people are at school and will be waiting after school for you, consider predators, creaps, stalkers, old men, kidnappers as a prime example and could be attracted to you because of it and do who knows what to you. When your an adult you can do whatever you want and wear whatever but schools do care about your safety and you need to be aware that this is only to keep you safe! Hope this helps.

In middle school, my bestie was getting bullied by someone so I did my best to help her and stand up for her. Everyone should stand up for kids who are getting bullied or how they dress and what they look like, when you help one you helped everyone. Love these videos piper keep it up 👍❤️❤️🦋🦋
