The 2021 version has white to yellowish colored calculus. They are deducting points for tissue trauma/lacerations. Recommend using your ultrasonic to help flush out the debris. Some of our class had tight gingiva and some had more loose gingiva where they could easily see the calculus. Also, they send the manikins back to the headquarters to be checked. We have been told 10-14 days to get results back.

in this webinar the girls discussed that they don’t get points deducted for tissue trauma/laceration but just a heads up to anyone taking their exam soon- the rules have changed. points are now deducted for tissue trauma!!! so be careful and go slow. i take my clinical board exam this thursday. 😅 good luck to everyone reading this who hasn’t taken their clinical board exam yet! . ❤️

Yes to this! I was hoping Claire would make a new video for 2021 because it's much different. I failed mine due to "tissue trauma" because the calculus was white like the tooth, hard to feel as said in the video and I ended up removing some of the tooth surface with the calculus. Taking it again in two weeks and would love any new info to help

@@pattipawlowski5130 hello Patti, I’ll be taking the manikin exam in December. I have a typodont I purchased on my own and the supposed calculus is dark brown but very smooth, like nail polish. In some areas it’s even like intrinsic. Is this what the calculus is like on the exam typodonts? I hope you did well on your recent exam. Thank you for your reply, Audra

@@audram869 Hi Audra. I just took the exam and (thankfully) passed. The calculus was exactly tooth color and the gums were not loose allowing you to visualize the deposits like some hygienists had said in 2020. However, I was told to ignore anything that felt "grainy" and to instead look for that definite bump felt by your explorer in a patient mouth and that worked well! Can I ask if I am from another state and want to get a FL Dental Hygiene license, do I have to fly to FL to take tge exam in that state? This is all very confusing.

It is a really good video ❤️ I’m really nervous and stressed about all of this and I’ll have my manniqin exam in 2 weeks, soo stressed about it as we are not allowed to use ultrasonic, only hand instruments. Hopefully it goes well .

Thank youuu sooo much .. ladies you were AWESOME I can’t thank you enough for sharing these info., I’m a foreign dentist and my exam next week.. was nervous about it because I didn’t have an idea of what it is exactly, but you explained more than enough and i feel really confident now. I just took my CDCA ADEX manikin exam this morning and I feel very discouraged. I hope I passed but at the same time it was not a good representation of my skills considering the gingiva was very easy to lacerate and the calculus was very very tenacious. I was even too scared to use my hand instruments… it was that easy to lacerate the gums 😭 good luck to everyone taking it! Praying and thinking good thoughts until I get my results back!!

i don't believe it is mandatory, but my entire class wore their loupes during our clinical board exam.

I taken clinical boards four times. The manakin exam is terrible. How to feel an epithelial attachment. It’s weird. Chunks of calculus no bleeding. Tissue hugging hunks of really hard burnished in calculus. I would never choose a board patient with hard ok’d calculus. My typodont had white not yellow stuff. It was wired

Is sad to see that in that time you used to have no penalties for tissue trauma. Nowadays you get one point deducted for each minor soft or hard tissue trauma. And more that 4 sites of tissue trauma results in automatic failure
