I felt so, so sorry for Jackson, Bryce, Ryan, and Sebastian. Nobody, especially a child should ever have to go through traumatic experiences or be ignored by their parents. Mr. Wang was absolutely incredible to these kids...and he helped them to become better people! Dhar, thank you so much for this video! Keep up the great work! With test scores lower than ever and more and more troubling students with bad backgrounds coming in, someone who can resonate with students on their issues and passions and feel like they can trust and connect with teachers is who we need in schools. Even if you threaten with detention, suspension, or expulsion, they don't care. They want someone who makes learning fun, resonates with them, and grows with them

This is the kind of teacher i wanna be. I want to be able to help students feel comfortable and better about themselves while also ensuring them that school can be a safe space where everyone gets to be who they want to be without hiding. I wanna be someone that students feel like they can talk to if they need help or if they feel the urge to let out their feelings somewhere, i wanna be that “somewhere”. Imagine being the reason and motivation to why students are able to go to school, it’s such a heartwarming feeling.

The reason why students fail to enjoy school and get motivation is partly the teachers too. Most teachers have 80-100 students. It is virtually impossible to give that much attention to each one sadly. As a teacher myself, I try to do what I can and as much as I can, but it is never enough.

It is a *joy* to teach a class as small as the one depicted here because in a class that small, you really can (and really should...something I make a point of doing) get to understand and tailor your lessons for each student.

Wow! I must say that after I heard the backstories of Jackson, Bryce, Ryan, and Sebastian, I felt so bad for them. Nobody should deserve to go through traumatic experiences or unsupportive parents. I'm so impressed by the way Mr. Wang understand their situations and find ways to help and support them out; that way, they can change for the better. In my book, he's the best teacher the school ever had and everyone is lucky to have him as a teacher. "You attract more bees with honey than you do vinegar."

I am a uni teacher, and even if at that level you are not supposed to get so involved emotionally as in lower tiers of the system, nor the students need it, I nevertheless try to be a little Mr Wang in my lessons

I feel bad for these four guys because of their troubled past. When I was in my early teens there was an older guy in our school. He started to pick on me a lot and bullied me, but when I fought back, I was the one to blame. Because he gaslighted the teachers and my mom. He was on the local football team, was a school DJ, active member of the local church community, so he was a "golden child" in the school. And I was a teacher's kid, who was just supposed to be pitch perfect, not to fight back, not to swear, etc.

As a 13 year old who suffers from bipolar, severe anxiety and depression, I lost my aunt when I was nine years old and I can't let it go. I always feel guilt and wish I had gone instead. So I've been in and out of school due to trouble and it hasn't been better at home because my parents are always fighting or my dad drinks too much and gets abusive. I had trouble fitting in let alone telling anyone about it until I met my 5th period teacher Mrs Taylor. She saw I was struggling to pass and that I spend most the time sleeping or crying in her class. She always takes me outside the classroom, gives me a hug (which makes me cry so much more.) And comforts me. I once had to be sent to away due to wanting to commit. And I was gone for a week and when I got back my parents didn't really care. It broke my heart. But when I went to school, 5th period Mrs Taylor was filled with joy and she hugged me. She told me she could not stop thinking about me because she was worried. She's been there through the roughest times. And I can't thank her more.
