Great reaction. Here is some info that might interest you: Juko (guitar) writes all of the music and gives demos to the others to learn their parts. He originally didn't even want to play guitar (his grandmother bought him a guitar and he didn't touch it until after she died...) and Sokoninaru actually started as a Ling Tosite Sigure cover band... Misaki (bass) was originally a guitarist (and better than Juko) and started to play bass because she wanted to join them and they needed a female bassist. They don't have any musical education and can't read musical notation, just play by ear. You are absolutely correct about the not-a-virtuoso part. Note that his playing -- even when tapping or playing solos -- is not ego-driven or boastful, but very pragmatic: he uses the guitar as a tool to produce various sounds -- including things like the weird scratching sounds etc. He does everything live with a pedal board. Most bands that play "progressive" music (and modern metal etc.) tend to make the music overloaded, while he has a good natural grasp of how music is not just about the notes but the gaps between them, how fast is meaningless without slow, loud is meaningless without quiet etc. -- he keeps playing with those elements and makes music that is well balanced and playful, so as intense as it might be, it is not tiring or boring.

I don't think I've heard any other band write songs this overcomplicated and chaotic but still feeling coherent in the end. The sections just flow very well together. Nothing feels out of place or added in just to show off.

Sokoninaru are just amazing! Insane chaos in beautiful composition. Misaki Fujiwara is one of my idols as a bass player in a way even though her playing style is totally different from my own (I primarily play fingerstyle and some slap).

I first heard this band several years ago when I checked in on their live cover of a 'Hello Sleepwalkers' song (another Japanese progressive punk band that you should check out) ... They did a live 3 person cover of a complicated song that was originally played by 'Hello Sleepwalkers' a very good 5 piece band (who like Band-Maid, One Ok Rock, Kalafine, Angela, are Japanese bands that have no bad songs.) Babymetal back in 2014 caught my attention for the world of music that was coming out of Japan, which eventually broadened out to the whole of Asia ... The Asians address liking it ... The good Western bands still exist, but are free and far between, in Asia there are just so many musical geniuses it's scary ... And awesome.

Fun fact: they started the band as a Tk from Ling Tosite Sigure copy, then they started making original songs.

These guys have become one of my favorites. It does take listening to them several times I think, but once you have it's stuck in.

I wish everyone did multiple songs at once like you. This is a great format, bcs one song doesn't tell enough of a band. This band doesn't have too many MVs, but their album tracks are good too. Hope there will be more

loved seeing your reaction to re:program, i still feel that way even after listening to it so many times, so mindblowing. apart from the song writing, arrangement and tightness of their coordination, their ability to sing and play complex parts at the same time is shocking to me. this is more apparent on their covers of other bands that have 2 guitarists, where he often does complex picking while singing. i can't even sing and do power chords at the same time haha.
