The music on Studio One Rockers covers all areas of Reggae such as Ska, Rocksteady, Roots and Dancehall, all areas in which Studio One led the field. Studio One Rockers features many legendary Studio One tracks brought together for the first time by Soul Jazz Records. From the beginning of Reggae, when the Skatalites developed a new sound of Ska in 1962 up until today, Studio One has been the number one innovator in Jamaican music. Included in this compilation are classic Ska tracks ("Phoenix City"), Rocksteady ("Feel Like Jumping"), Roots music ("Truth and Rights"), Dancehall (Freddy McGregor, Michigan and Smiley) and many more.

This original version is so much better than the 90s remix

Lots of people say that, but in this case I don't think so. The original jams harder. This version has a groovier, haunting quality I prefer.

💯 It's hauntingly beautiful. I love the 90s version too, but this version just hits me right in the gut every time.

Not many people know it, but this is a rock steady, dancehall cover of You Don't Love Me, 1960 by Willie Cobb, which was also played by the Allman Brothers, and is itself of remake of She's Fine, She's Mine, by Bo Diddley, 1955.

It's quite the song and has gone through many covers! Another great cover version of it is Bloomfield, Kooper Stills super session version.

In my mind this is one of the finest 60s psychedelic doom tunes ever recorded on tape 🔥💀🌿

@@gerentedeproduto Cool, I like that. nice and groovy : ) I actually mentioned doom specifically for this song cause its kinda dark for a reggae tune, and that bassline with the vocals is straight up acid drenched w3ed...or w33d drenched acid, not sure lol.. I can't help but allude it more to the slow heavy doom metal vibez of the 70s, if you're familiar with Black Sabbath. I never in my life thought I'd ever associate doom with reggae, until I heard Jackie Mitoo's Ghetto Organ, which this song is a reworking of...yeah, really am a yuuge fan of this. Apparently theres some very strong parallels you could draw from raggae such as this, with something psyched out and heavy doom like Shinki Chen's 1971 album :D :D God I love that album, nasty as hell straight out of a dream

,,Penn had originally recorded a version of Cobbs' 1960 song "You Don't Love Me" in 1967, incorporating elements of its music and lyrics. It is claimed that the Cobbs song was, in turn, based on Diddley's 1955 song "She's Fine, She's Mine". (Wikipedia)
