We in ja; rarely heard both motown versions ( Berry Gordy protecting his companies popularity with white America) so Whatnauats version that actually came after Heptones version,it did very on the R/B charts. Detroit Spinners felt it the most they were struggling badly and needed an hit, to add insult to injury their rendition was better than both Temptations and Whatnauts, so in comes Stevie Wonder with 'it a shame' the beat goes on.
