इस गीत को रफी साहिब ने 47 बार रिकॉर्ड किया था क्योंकि पूर्व की रिकॉर्डिंग में स्वयं अपनी आवाज और प्रदर्शन से वे संतुष्ट नहीं हो पा रहे थे। संगीतकार एस डी बर्मन ने जब यह कहा कि बस अब परफेक्ट हो गया है तो हर बार रफी साहिब यही कहते कि दादा मैं जो चाहता हूं वो बात पैदा नहीं हो रही है। जब गीत फाइनल हो गया तो रफी साहिब कहने लगे कि ऐसे में किसको कौन मनाए, वाली लाईन में अब जाकर रूह पैदा हुई है। वाकई ऐसा ही हुआ था। आप गीत सुनकर खुद ही अंदाज़ा लगा सकते हैं। ऐसे थे रफी साहिब और संगीत के प्रति उनका समर्पण। अब न बर्मन दादा हैं, न शैलेंद्र जी, न देव साहिब, विजय आनंद और न ही रफी साहिब मगर इस गीत के ज़रिए हमारे जहन में इनकी यादें फिर से तरोताजा हो जाती हैं। इन सभी महारथियों को विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि।

एक दिव्य आवाज़ आज दिवा स्वप्न सी लगती है। न जाने वक़्त की गर्दिश में कहां गुम हो गई ! माधुर्य की विलक्षणता के साथ सहज रूप से गीतों की भावनाओं को अभिव्यक्त करने वाली ऐसी आवाज़ जिसकी मिठास और सुगंध संगीत प्रेमियों के अन्तःकरण को सदैव दैदीप्यमान करती रहेगी। रफ़ी साहब के गीतों जो बात है, उसे शब्दों में बयां करना मुमकिन नहीं। केवल महसूस किया जा सकता है।

The lyrics are also amazing. I read some where that Shailendra ji was taking lot of time to write lyrics for this song and then one day Vijay Anand and Burman Da locked him in a room and he was ready with the song in 30 minutes. Simply Genius

The biggest treat in our life is having had Rafi Saab as an icon singer with the most beautiful voice we can imagine. And on the same token one of the biggest waste has been the absence of videoing all his recordings live as this one. Just imagine for a minute that all his studio recordings were available to watch. It would have been invaluable. The facilities were there but the initiative was absent.

You name them and he delivers with his unmatched effortless Rafi style.His contemporaries singers used to admit that what Rafi could do we couldn't.No wonder he is known in the film fraternity as" God's own voice.
