ABOUT THE ARTIST ROBERT LEWIS
As any artist knows, creative work is essentially a process of discovery. Something in the world triggers a desire to create, make, and capture the essence of what has been experienced. The feeling one gets is not always available to language at first. One explores and is drawn to express the feeling or thought that has been triggered. So much of the time, it is unclear how the thing will turn out. But that's why I call it a process. The process itself is the most important thing. A creative person trusts in the process. Has faith in it. Follows it. I am a creative artist who works in several media. Because of this, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what I do. So, I describe my work as simply "creative". The creative process has led me to work in clay, oil paints, acrylics, wood, words, and primitive crafts using handmade tools. Not all of these things make much sense in the daily world, but I've come to trust that if it moves me, it may move others. And so, I am sharing my explorations of this creative process. My life takes place on the Monterey peninsula in California, where I explore, forage for inspiration, create, and share.
