Don't study it, you won't find a job with it. Study a degree that is the most employable which means STEM and finance&accounting. I get that you want to follow your dreams, but be pragmatic and think about your future. I wish someone told me this years ago.

This video has helped me so much! History has become my passion not only in school but in my everyday life. People have always dissuaded me from studying history further but this video has made me confident about my decision. Thank you guys so much, it's such a great feeling knowing that there are other people out there that enjoy history and learning so much! Xxx

It's so fascinating hearing about how other countries universities teach history. I found that I had the most wonderful time learning world history because my professor was an amazing lecturer. He really made history entertaining, all I ever did was take notes, and I always aced every test because the stories just stuck in my head.

I studied History (World Wars specifically) in college and now I'm going to teach History in High School. This video nailed my experience. I loved it so much! I'm so glad you made this video. Absolutely loved it. I think a lot of people think History is boring and facts but it really isn't! Its about analyzing and critically thinking about a situation and understanding what was going on and how it affected the world and how it is still impacting us. I'm so glad you shared that with your viewers!

Hannah, if you're interested in museum arrangement, you might want to check out the work of the artist Fred Wilson! He's done some really fascinating work regarding how museum arrangement affects how pieces are perceived. Check out his Mining the Museum exhibition, I think you would like it. Thanks for making this Hannah & Ellie! Good timing, one week before this year's History in Theory & Practice students sit the exam. Sorry to have made you 'curl up in a ball and cry for about seven days'. I do miss the ridiculous parallels (like mermaid/postmodernism) and do still tell students about Ellie's revelation that enlightenment/romanticism = star trek/star wars.

(Rachel was trying to convince me to come) - I think the 'you have to glue the dust of yourself together' was also a result of HTP... but in a good way. I studied history at uni as well and really loved it. A lot of people comment on the fact that it is not really a degree that gets you anywhere, but I studied it for me, because I wanted to do something that I enjoyed rather than thinking about what job I might get at the end of it. Some might see that as a waste or whatever, but I'm really happy that I chose something that made me happy!

In America, college and university are pretty interchangeable when talking about just the general post-secondary education system. The individual schools also have varying names (i.e. Boston College vs Boston University when both provide the same level of education). The only confusion comes when talking about college to people from Britain/India/etc. when there it means the two years of schooling post-secondary from ages 16-18

As someone who is currently studying computer science at the university of Birmingham I feel i must stress that if you are going to do any sort of Engineering or science degree that you must be prepared to work you arse off if you want a good grade. Even in first year. also be prepared to be so stressed when exams come around that you have a bit of a break down. I recommend you take up running or something (trust me it helps. You can literally run away from your problems then). The university is amazing though and they're building loads of new stuff at the moment. It's going to be amazing.

Thank you for the video. I know it's been a few years. I'm really scared and indecisive about post-secondary options because even though I love history, will it be beneficially for me? People are also saying a history degree is useless in obtaining a financially-secure job but I think I just have to go for it. Debt or no debt, I don't want regrets, as naive as that sounds.
