I had the same issue,so I tied it back with a Bungee chord.

I did my first batch 2 years ago and didn’t know much about the grinder 8-12” stumps was taking me 2 hours. I though because it was pine and they were old it’s why it was taking along time. Upon returning the unit after 24hrs use I asked questions and found out with this machine it should take max 1/2 hour. The guy at the rental place inspect the tooth and they were all dull which cause the lengthy grind time. The second time around which was this video was approximately 20 min on 12” stump 6” below grade. This video was on an old huge stump which took approximately 2 hrs. This particular stump was approximately 36” at grade due to big roots above grade. When renting a grinder and ask about hydraulics, the last thing you need is to manually move this machine left to right. Hope this helps.

The work can go faster when the blades are sharp. Make sure that the blades are sharp when you rent the machine.
