Officially the craziest thing Coyote Peterson’s ever done: stick his arm into a box of 200 angry Yellowjackets.
“Hey Coyote, will they still be angry at you if you stick your arm in the box after 15 minutes?”
Yeah Coyote. Yeah they will.
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you stuck your arm in a Yellowjacket nest,... here’s your answer! You’re welcome.
Honestly, how much do you think this man’s insurance plan costs? It’s downright ridiculous.
Anyway… Coyote vs 200 YellowJackets. Guess what happens.
IMPORTANT: Risk of allergic reaction or anaphylaxis is possible after receiving a sting from any stinging insect. Call 911 or other emergency services if you're having a serious reaction to an insect sting. Do not try this at home.

What's up Coyote Pack and Brave Crew - CP here, hope you enjoyed the video but I have to be honest, this one went in a direction we never imagined would turn out so painful. I have done some crazy things over the years while enduring some insane levels of pain but taking this many stings at once was next level. I want to remind everyone that Yellow Jackets are a species that can be found right in your own backyard so please be careful if you notice a nest never approach or antagonize these easily angered little buggers!

I'm fortunately one of the few people who are resistant to Yellow Jacket venom. The stingers still hurt, like any puncture would, but I don't get any swelling and barely any inflammation of the skin, even in sensitive areas such as the face and once even the nipple. I still run like hell when I stumble across a nest, because those stingers still hurt in the moment.

I got swarmed by wasps around age 8-9, and it was incredibly traumatic. It's been over 20 years now and I still vividly remember how it felt. My dad and my sister were swarmep at the same time, and after escaping them, my dad had to try and get any off of us that were stuck in our clothes, then find the nearest chemist to get antihistamine for us ASAP. The headache, the nausea, the tachycardia, the swelling and burning, and getting these twinges of electric shocks at every sting. My whole body would spasm randomly for hours, then it would itch but your couldn't scratch it because it was like stinging yourself. -10/10 would never recommend

@NiaJustNia
@NiaJustNia 8 ай бұрын
@@paulwalsh6734 The nest we disturbed was pretty much invisible inside an embankment. Basically my sister hit a fern out of the way with a stick like if she was sweeping the path, and the vibration was somehow just enough to disturb them. It was in the late autumn when they were in hibernation, so there wasn't any flying around back and forth to indicate a nest at all. My sister was terrified of wasps after getting swarmed at around 18 months old after being left unattended by our mother, and had been told that getting stung again had a high chance of triggering anaphylaxis, so she had grown up petrified of them. If she'd seen even one, she wouldn't have even walked on that path, she'd have had a meltdown and refused to go. I think the fact they were still so drowsy is the only reason the injuries weren't worse. Some even fell asleep in the wrinkles of our clothes, and many didn't manage to give a full venom dose. It's like if it was mid summer, we'd probably have been screwed, but it also probably wouldn't have happened at all because we'd have known about the nest because of active wasps

Wasps in general get a bad reputation just for these guys! They're more aggressive in late summer/early fall because food gets scarcer. Wasps really aren't that bad, folks! They just like their space and, unlike bees, can sting multiple times. (Believe me, if bees didnt die after just one, theyd sting as often as wasps!) Edit to add, it doesn't help their nests are underground and impossible to see unless you catch a glimpse of the ones outside.

I used to hang out outside the cafeteria at my college, where they had massive wasp issues. I say "issues", but those guys buzzed around me all day without the slightest intention on stinging me. Mostly they preyed on the abundant fly population. Then one day I got it in my head to go and sit on a bench around the corner of the building. A single yellowjacket calmly, premeditatively, landed on my bare knee, and stung it. Far as I know, I had had no previous interation with this animal, but in retrospect I realize that I must have inadvertantly gotten to close to her nest for comfort. Lesson learned: stick to where the bugs ain't bothered by you.

@@tch1724 the reason why is pretty interesting, actually. When taking a sting, your body attempts to neutralize the proteins in the venom and slow its progress through your body (hence why its important to stay calm after a venomous sting or bite). Now your body attempts to remove these proteins (histamines) by creating antihistamines (what normally causes you to sneeze, cough, and make you get stuffy). However, your body can go overboard and cause your throat to close, and send you into anaphylactic shock.

This brings back terrible memories for me. When I was a teenager I was swarmed by yellow jackets for was stung an estimated 300-500 times on my head and chest. Tips: If you are in a wooded area and disturb a yellow jacket nest, you may be able to shorten the chase distance by ducking through foliage. In my experience, they chase farther over open ground, but not as far through dense foliage. The other side of that coin is that you are more likely to encounter another nest in a wooded area than on a trail or road. If you are on a trail, fail forward - run in the direction you were going anyway, otherwise you'll have to wait a long time for the nest to calm down, and any pheromones you got on you may only antagonize them faster. It also helps to be near the front when hiking in a group. Whatever is lurking on the side of the trail is more likely to strike or sting after a few people have passed unmolested. Finally, I'm not sure if this holds for yellow jacket venom, but bee stings are a cure for some kinds of arthritis. I think Coyote may be able to check arthritis off of his list of worries.

Thankfully, the pain was very tolerable and was just annoying to me but the swelling sucked the most. Hi, I'm a bee keeper 👋 We could have told you- they can smell specific people, and honey bees for example can hold a grudge for up to two weeks.

I was swarmed by yellow jackets in July of 1981 while prepping a bivouac sight for troop training. I can only remember the first few stings before the training officer ran in to pull me out of that situation which saved me. He was so brave and I am so grateful to him.

I was 5 and stumbled upon an entire nest. My mom was across the yard mowing the lawn with ear protection on and still heard my screams. They’re no joke.

Growing up in the country of New Hampshire with 3 brothers, we were always outside exploring nature. At least once a Summer, I would get attacked by yellow jacket ground nests. I still fear those things as a 40 year old.

Yep we wandered into the woods and got destroyed by a swarm of yellow jackets as kids, broke open a massive log they were living in by accident and they were mad. They bite too

I recently came across a yellow jacket nest out camping. Jumped off a rock felt instant pain in my leg, turned around to see a swarm coming up and ran like hell. I have been stung by wasps and bees and would have to say it was the most painful sting I have experienced to my recollection and the itching later on was intense. I can't imagine having as many stings as Coyote.
