Davidovich has always had really good anticipation. Its just a shame hes always come short whenevers he was on a good roll. Nole definitely had a taste of his own weapon used against him though. A world no.1 who has played 3 matches in 4 months due to fascist political reasons? As I said before, Nole needs to focus on ATP 250 events, get as much match playing time on court and slowly build back his stamina, speed, agility, confidence. Then move to 500s, then Masters 1000s. As for slams he may try this year but, in this form, sadly I don't see him defending his titles.....

Fokina came into the match with a 4-9 season record and only 1 win in his past six matches so it's not like he's in "peak form." And there's some familiarity between the two with Djokovic only losing 7 games to Fokina in two previous match-ups. Just goes to show how tough life is on the ATP tour - if you're a step slow or not in match shape, anyone can lose. Great win for Fokina - not too many people can say they served a breadstick to an all-timer like Nole.

When I see Nole lose, I feel happy. Comparison to Rafa come back at AO, he could get the win. Many underestimate him that it is because Nole didn't participate in the game. But this has already proved that although he joins to play, he can't get the win.
@hanglythu1566
@hanglythu1566 2 жыл бұрын
Actually that's not accurate. From Davis Cup to AO22 was a quite short time, if Novak played AO22 he could regain his form in R1 R2 matches. People are too focusing on the fact he lost to Vesely in Dubai, but it's understandable considering how little he had been playing for 4 months until that time. It's not that he always, or at least constantly loses to "nameless" players like Vesely. To be fair Nadal and Federer also had many losses to very low ranked players, but people seem to forget that. Sure, if Novak played AO22 he might not win the whole tournament, but there would definitely be chances for him. Your saying "can't get the win" is wrong.

This should put things into perspective, as to the people who were critical of Federers losses after he came back last year. Even greats like Novak, Roger and Dominic need to be playing on a consistent basis to reach their highest level, and we should alow them some time to get back into form and not call for them to retire after the first few performanses. And ofcourse this makes what Rafa has done this year seem even crazier in retrospect!!
@andyroo9381
@andyroo9381 2 жыл бұрын
Nadal has something other champions just do not possess. This loss by Novak proves that. Nadal missed the entire half of 2021. Lost at FO, missed Wimbledon and USO. Loses in an early round at Washington. He then takes off the rest of the tennis season due to his chronic foot injury. Undergoes foot surgery. Plays an exhibition match in mid-December. Loses both of his matches (Shapovolov, Murray). Flies home to find out he is infected with Covid19. Early January comes and, at the last moment, decides to play AO22. Wins the Melbourne title. Plays Australian Open and almost loses to Shapo and Medvedev but wins his 2nd title at his unluckiest Grand Slam tournament. Yeah, you could say that is CRAZY but I call it an unwillingness to die without a fight. This is what makes Nadal....Nadal.

That was… a match. Djokovic was rusty from start to finish but had his moments especially in the second set. Fokina was by far the better player in the first set and for much of the second, then imploded after leading 3-0 and had three double faults in a row, dived as if he’s the son of Neymar and Bruno Fernandes, but Djoko was gassed by the third set and Fokina raised his level just enough to win. Along the way there were shouts of joy and frustration in Serbian and Spanish, and Tennis Channel zoomed in on a nearby washing line. Also, maybe he’s just tired, but to me Djokovic looked, well, old. He looked all of his 34 (almost 35) years. He was slow and sluggish and his shots sometimes seemed half-hearted. I guess it’s a good thing he can play throughout the entire clay season. He needs more matches under his belt.

I watched a bit of this match, (last 2 games of first set and entire second set) it was not a good match if you recorded it I advise you to not watch it. Other than a few flashes of brilliance by the pair (Fokina with sliding backhands, Djokovic with his returns) this was a shocker, unforced errors being bombed by the plenty, at one point Fokina choked so hard and served 3 consecutive double faults to get broken. Serving in general was really average and overheads were terrible.

HAHAHAHA...I just love Novak's' fans dunce-for-brains. Early in the year, 'he will come back with a vengeance so all better watch out!' Then here 'he'll be back with a fury...' only to lose early in both. Sure he hasn't done well here recently, but losing IN THE FIRST ROUND?!!! when he was suppose to play with a "fury" and "vengeance"? This is not against Novak but against the pop culture educated Novak halfwitted fans. Alejandro obviously played better. Practice makes perfect and Novak has been doing much of it so no excuse.
