A lovely couple of days in my favourite place . Mudlarking the Thames foreshore . Including a midnight tide with mi ol' mud mucker , Julia
I feel I should recommend researching the history of Sri Lanka much more than I was able to cover in this video . I was so glad of the path the finding of the last coin took me down . It's an incredibly complicated and fascinating story of colonialism and most importantly , resistance !
Hope you enjoy . Have fun folks =o)

I battle Canadian Geese to get in and out of the parking lot of my Mother's Memory Care Facility daily, they just walked away from you? As far as being blind, Kevin you would not spot the amazing things you find on the foreshore, take it from someone who has been in bifocals since 5. The Swedish coin is awesome, so is the Elephant coin. The very first video of yours I saw was a the night video when you picked up lots of pipes and saw dead fish and I wanted to know why you didn't take a picture of the fish with a pipe in his mouth, sorry just reminded me. Thanks great video, Hi Julia!

Thanks Debbie . The Canada geese can be a bit boisterous , but generally they're quite chilled . I wish I'd thought of putting a pipe in a fish mouth =o) Thanks for watching , and always good to hear from you . Cheers

Fishing line can be a death trap for years. My father and I rescued a cormorant that was caught in some line and could just reach the surface for air. It was a joy to see it dive away before surfacing some distance away, free of its certain death trap.🤗 Thank you for another lovely trip to the Thames!😊

Great video Kevin, as always. That copper alloy piece you found that you postulated might be a book clasp looks very much like a the Pugio frog piece from a Roman solider's belt- the narrow Augustan type from the 1st century CE. I can't say for sure it's not a book clasp, or anything else though.

@@medwaymammalianmudlark You bet- I hope it is too. I used to study Roman arms and armour quite a lot and recognized it right away- but it's a bit different than the norm, which is why I can't say 100% for certain. That and, as I say, I don't know if there are also other things that just happen to look just like Pugio frogs. Hopefully the finds expert or whomever you have to report it to can confirm what I suspect as that'd be one heck of a great find- a piece from Claudius' army in Londinium...

Thanks Cari . Yeah , as you prob saw in the video , I always seem to get lots of marbles when nightlarking . Shapes seem to pop out more . Although there are trade-offs . For example it's much harder to make out the darker areas that have recently been eroded

Clay marbles that seem really small for the game, are likely baking beans which were used to bake blank pie shells, by keeping the pastry flat against the pan.
