Don't knock yourself. This is an acrobatic exercise, technically difficult, impressive even, but is mechanical, it has no heart. Dancing should be an expression of the music, dancer and music as one, not a counted out floor exercise with some sort of background noise added later. You may not have her technical skills, or her flexibility, but you just may still be a better dancer, one who really engages with the audience through an expression of the music, rather than an impressive bag of tricks.

The moves at the beginning derive from ballet because ballet is the pre-training requirement of learning figure skating and gymnastics. You have not seen enough ballet shows, but I get figure skating is so widely televised and not ballet. Those spinning moves originate from ballet and her moves after the spinning are combined with gymnast moves.

She'd have to sing and act plus dance many styles for that but yeah, a ton of talent

The beginning isn't contemporary. She's doing grand pirouettes (with good technique, too!) - which are a pure ballet move and no easy feat! Even more impressive when you see (as you can with her hands) that she's actually NOT a ballet dancer!

you land with your feet and then your arms to finish lowering yourself down. the slam was most likely her feet then hands hitting the ground. i say this because this is something we practiced in class when i was a dancer and that was how we were told to land (i can also see her use the same technique) its surprisingly not painful unless you land weird.

@mutiilatejade yeah. I'm far too clumsy for that. I'd break at least 3 of my bones and somehow 1 of someone nearby me in the process of trying this.

The thing is you need a good coach and a coach that will give you the motivation to dance. It seems like she had a great coach and abby lee would’ve crushed her spirits and her hope for continuing to dance in her adult hood. Which is why it’s better abby doesn’t even touch her.

No kidding she's not of this world. She looks like something out of a fairytale moving through her dance. Like a literal animated character moves or something amazing.

💯 talent, and 💯 hard work

You mean an amazing talent due to hard work, dedication, effort, practice....id find it a bit patronizing to be told something i did was because of gods gift.... it may be a gift to all of us to be able to watch her, but if anyone was able to go from never dancing before to doing that, id eat my phone. The woman has talent, based on, id assume, years of talent instructing her and pushing her, dedication, sacrifice, effort, focus, determination, discipline, passion, practice and having the ability, money, and distance to practice in professionally kitted out spaces with professionals who are both skilled and knowledgable as well as who are dedicated and able to work with her individually, further challenging her and allowing her to achieve greater heights in her discipline. Its not god that gave her the ability to dance like that, it was through her will and desire to do so, along with sacrificing other things that mattered less to her, and being in a place where it was possible. To say it was a God given gift is to entirely minimize and overlook all it took for her to get to that point.
