Stunning Experience! Brussels to Berlin by European Sleeper in SLEEPER CAR!
-----
This video was recorded on Friday 28. July - Saturday 29. July 2023
Train departure: 18:01 PM.
Train number: ES 453.
Carriage 12 place 26.
Sleepers - Triple.
-----
I took the European Sleeper from Brussels to Berlin, and it was a stunning experience! Beautiful landscape throughout the journey and a great sleeper compartment. Overall I really enjoyed this trip; Both my roommates and the train staff were incredibly kind, and I slept pretty well that night. There was also plenty of food and drinks to choose from, but i ate some diner just before the train departure. 👍

I know they don't allow passengers in cars with broken airconditioning during heatwaves on high speed trains. I'm not sure wether it is the same with these.

The sleeper cars are formed Wagon Service (Slovakia) couchette coaches that were acquired from DB Nachtzug around 2020. These coaches have now been acquired by European Sleeper for this new service. Similar coaches can also now be found operating for MAV Start in Hungary.

Wouldn't the attendants have known why the compartments were locked and screened out?
@NordicRail
@NordicRail 10 ай бұрын
@@ganapathivibhu8044 I forgot to ask them, but i think the reason why they were locked was either because of broken airconditioning or serious electrical problems... (power outlets were out of service in all compartments, but maybe the lights didn't work in this particular compartment).

Great trip report, thanks for sharing! Did you not book a sleeper compartment with single occupancy? That way you could have avoided the roommate situation, but it’s great that turned out well. I will make the same trip next month. Always nice to see how other people experienced this train so far. So thanks again!

Thank you so much! Yeah about the sleeper compartment sharing with strangers, I know I could've booked a compartment for myselfe, but that would've been very costly. :D So I think I saved at least 100 euros, and at the same time I was in good company.

Definitely a channel worthy of 100,000+ subscribers, if you start to do more of these. I hope you will be able to do more trips as you say, @Nordic Rail. I just watched the Copenhagen to Berlin on Snalltaget (?) one from 2021. I look forward to equally good trips in the future. Cheers from London. It's nearly 20 years, but I miss long visits to Copenhagen and most of Denmark, plus Malmo and Gothenburg and a brief weekend in Stockholm. I would love to see Germany, Switzerland and Austria befoe I'm too old.

Thanks for the video! Do you know the age of those sleeper cars? The ones on the Canadian sleeper trains were built in 1954 and have been in continous operation since. I highly reccomend taking a trip on The Canadian (4500km/4 nights) across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver. It's an amazing journey.

Thanks for the feedback! And regarding the sleeper train age, I think they’re approx the same age as the canadian ones. I’ve actually been to Canada twice, both British Columbia and Alberta… such a stunning country! Will hopefully come back to tryyour recommended train trip.

01:50, if you want to go to Brussels's Grand Plce from Midi/Zuid station, the best way is not to walk but to take any train going through Central station: there are tons of them and it takes just 3 minutes. And no worries about the ticket: any train ticket to or from Brussels is valid between any stations inside Brussels, so you don't even need to buy an extra ticket.
@NordicRail
@NordicRail 10 ай бұрын
I didn't know about the fact that you could use any vaid ticket for the public transport in Brussels, but that's really awesome! But the walk was also nice, because you walk through central Brussels
@majy1735
@majy1735 10 ай бұрын
@@NordicRail Caution: any train ticket to or from Brussels is valid on *rail* public transport within Brussels, not on the metro, trams or buses (although, conversely, most types of Brussels public transport tickets may also be used on trains). The principle, if you want, is that SNCB/NMBS regards Brussels as *one point*, regardless of which station you use, so an SNCB/NMBS ticket to or from Brussels can be used freely anywhere on the SNCB/NMBS network within Brussels (and there are no less than 44 stations within the city).
@NordicRail
@NordicRail 10 ай бұрын
I get it yeah, but keep in mind that I think the metro would've been the quickest option to/from Midi to Grand Place, so the train was an option as well, but then i would rather just walk and experience wonderful Brussels. :)

l used to catch the 23:41 from Brussels to Hannover quite frequently back in the day, years ago !! Late 1990s early to mid 00s . After leaving Waterloo at about 21 ,20 . l remember the first stop was Liege Guillemin ,then Aachen ? . l believe in later years it had a portion for Stuttgart . Is this the same train ?

Not quite the same train, because they recently funded this company “European Sleeper” so it’s actually a very “new” train company, although i get you, because some of the train cars they are using date all the way back to the 50s… so they might be similar to the ones from late 90s. 😀
@NordicRail

Also, the train doesn’t stop at Hannover, it just skips it, mainly due to the timetable - for not disturbing the passenger’s sleep.

Thank you so much for the comment! As you can see in the video, the bike storage it there, but it's obviously not 100% safe. That’s what most people over here do too. This train caters for a very niche market, which I’m part of. I’ll take a train any time over flying or driving. We have also more and more people making environnent conscious choices over here, which doesn't seem to be the case in America yet. As for who is the richest, we’ll have this discussion again when Manhattan will be flooded under 5 feet of seawater.

Thats because you are very car dependent cant go anywhere without car. You are limited by car and plane only. We can go with plane, car, and train + we have walkable and bikable citys, and you dont. Your american car brain will never understand this simple principle. Therefore we will never understand " american sensibilitys " because they are not sensible. 😅😂
