The Eastman ACTG2E is an all solid electro acoustic travel guitar. Short scale and diminutive body ensure you can take this guitar on your trips but the all solid woods and beautiful bindings never allow you to feel like you have compromised in any way. The ideal portable guitar companion.
Whilst considered a travel guitar, its also a great performance guitar and anyone who has been considering a Sheeran by Lowden Wee Lowden model should take a close look at this!! All solid woods and pickup for a fraction of the price. Check it out online here

I bought this guitar in Manchester whilst on holiday this year...I love it ..great for busking..only thing it doesn't come with strap lug, so need to fit around the headstock..fender do a "quick release" system strap which I use and is perfect...just have to widen the hole where strap fits to jack input

Yes, the 2 instruments are not perfectly comparable. The Eastman is a "regular" guitar, with the standard 14 frets and a 1-11/16" nut width. Parlors tend to have 12 frets, a wider nut, and sometimes a flatter fretboard radius, not my preference.

I have high end headphones and Richard, that Eastman sounds way better than the Faith. Much better than the price difference would suggest. In fact I think it would be foolish not to stretch that bit further and take home Eastman.

I liked both . I don't get on with Jumbo's or larger bodied acoustic guitars in general. If I was out to buy a parlour guitar ,I would definitely try both of these.

The Faith guitar sounds like a kids guitar. I have a carbon fiber CA Cargo guitar and was using it for travel just two days ago. The EAD strings sound fine but the other three strings, especially the G string sound like I'm playing a plastic box (which I am). It has an offset sound hole and those three boxy sounding strings are the farthest from the hole. I'm going to look inside and see if there is any frame work to worry about and, if not, I am seriously considering cutting another sound hole on the other side of the strings in hopes it will allow those strings to sing out. I mean, they put two F holes on the old arch tops for a reason, right? If that doesn't do the trick, then an Eastman ACTG 2E will be added to my list of guitars to purchase. I have had a bunch of travel guitars (too many to list) over the past 50 years and have yet to find one that totally fits the bill. That might just be the nature of travel guitars. The search continues...

You're absolutely right about 'boxy' versus 'dynamic' and it does come across. Sounds really good.I wonder sometimes if those smaller acoustic seem more organic in that they are less physically obtrusive when playing them. Good as well to hear 'tough' when referring to the whiners. Like Montgomery at El Alamein when he stated that he would not tolerate 'bellyaching'. Nip that in the bud.

lol thank you. As I was tuning the guitar I could hear the tapping of the keyboard warriors in my mind!! HAHA (Whilst obviously also thinking "damn - if only I had thought about this guitar before I started"!!!) However. The whole point is when you are having a conversation its organic. If someone comes into the shop and has a chat and I pickup a guitar to explain something - I will give it a tune. You are genuinely seeing real life off the cuff chat so its all comes with the package (whether you like it or not!). So I do appreciate you appreciating that aspect. Thank you!

My previous experience with Eastman guitars had left me lukewarm about them. I have had two, one acoustic and one archtop, both guitars that I liked looking at more than playing. I sold them both without regret. So I came in to this video predisposed toward the Faith. But the Eastman really did sound miles better than the Faith. Can you tell me, as Eastman seems to be keeping it a secret, what is the overall length, and the lower bout width, of the Eastman?

Lovely little guitar what's the nut width on them? Do you do any travel guitars with 45mm neck?

I think the Puplett guitar Adrian Legg has is probably the ultimate travel guitar but apparently Puplett will not build one for anyone else and no one else will either. I haveone of the Hohner Steinberger copies and it works well for me.

Review an Orangewood Oliver Jr. They're amazing! I bought one. I have an Eastman E20D and I love it. But if that's what the travel sounds like, I'll keep my Orangewood.

Solid wood....... unlike the Taylor GS mini. Just need a wider nut width!!
@pawelorlowski3515
@pawelorlowski3515 4 ай бұрын
Yes. Eastman is solid wood, well built and is cheaper than GS mini. But Taylor's sound is closer to full body guitar, Eastman more like a box. So nevermind the price and wood. If you are after a better sound pick Taylor, if you are after boxy sound Eastman.

Best travel guitar is carbon fiber. Take it anywhere without worry. I have a Composite Acoustics Cargo. Also projects like a much larger guitar!

Taylor and Martin alternatives are better sounding guitars. Although I do like the quality materials that Eastman uses.

yes they do sound better once you get above 1000. i personally think eastman is the best brand for sub 1000. its the only brand that i know of that has full solid guitars at the price point. i also tried a taylor gse mini and the martin 000 junior but this one absolutely smokes them.

Very interesting. I've just watched a fascinating Chinese upload comparing a spruce topped GS Mini to the Eastman Actg kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l9V9fqip1KetZIU.html The uploader plays a range of different styles when comparing them and also blanks out the guitars so you can enjoy yourself listening and deciding whether you prefer guitar A or B. You then find out which is which. Richard's demo of the 2e version matches the Chinese demo and also shows that whereas the Eastman has excellent bright tones, there still seems to be a lack in the low end. Richard is right to use the word 'clarity' to define the sound and tones of the Eastman ... so does it win for you when pitched (no pun intended) against the GS Mini? Decide for yourself and watch the Chinese demonstrator. He begins playing just after 2.04.
